For this forward yesterday.
Circa 1999.
The building next to Cyber Towers was Wipro campus (now Broadridge).
What a massive transformation in the skyscape.
Madhapur 25 years back.
The only building I recall that existed after Cyber Towers was the Cyient building. Had gone there for a meeting with some visitors from Chennai and they were wondering where I got them. There was also Ascendas IT Park which housed Baan Infosystems.

I called a friend of mine with good knowledge of politics and close connects too with senior leaders of various political parties. He answered in one word - ahankaram.
Thoughts anyone?
A Swiggy delivery person near Hiranandini Powai (Mumbai). Studies under street lights in the night preparing for civil services exam. Gets on the job at 6 am onwards.
Respect what you have and don’t assume that it will always be there. It’s a karma thing.
We may have moved on to escalators leading up to the entry, shiny glam interiors, cushioned seats, recliners, food served on our seats but the joy of watching English movies at SANGEET will forever remain etched in our memories.
Those who have watched would agree. Right?!
Everyone coming to Hyderabad WE won't impose any language restrictions on you. You will be treated as a part of our city & equal contributors to it's growth.
Together, let's make this city convenient, equitable, accessible, safe, affordable & culturally acceptable to everyone.
To,
Everyone Coming to Bengaluru
You will be treated as OUTSIDERS in Bengaluru if you don't speak Kannada or make an effort to speak Kannada.
Write it down, Share it around. We ain't Joking.
BENGALURU BELONGS TO KANNADIGAS PERIOD.
How is this a gift?! Are they spending their personal money?
The money paid as taxes has to be utilised for the common good of the citizens. It is the right of citizens to get a better infra, it isn't a favour.
An air cooled theatre started in 1950s called PARADISE had a small tea, samosa joint to serve snacks during interval and later became the famous biryani joint by the same name.
Circa 1980s. The Hyderabad-Madras Express approaching the Khairatabad Rly Station.
The mud path alongside the railway track with two people on the cycle is now probably the periphery of the Necklace Road.
The Black Rocks (Naubat Pahad and Kaala Pahad) on which now stand the Birla Mandir and Planetarium.
This picture has been taken from Fateh Maidan (LB Stadium). What a glorious sight!
So many memories of Sangeet Theatre.
Thanks
@NallariNaidu
for the share (2nd image of door inside). Took me back to the days we used to stand for the sandwich.
Every Hyderabadi must have had some unforgettable memories attached with this theatre.
70 years of Paradise Biryani
After Mahatma Gandhiji's death in 1948, late Todupunuri Anjaiah Goud erected his statue at James St. (MG Road) to commemorate Gandhiji's visit to Sec'bad before independence. The statue was unveiled by Jawaharlal Nehru in 1951 (1/n)

Before the era of cabs, metro, private vehicles, 37S bus used to be the primary commute source for people living in ECIL, AS Rao Nagar, Sainik Puri, RK Puram. The service was discontinued few years back by
@TGSRTCHQ
The bus service is back now.
The reality of
#Hyderabad
isn't the fancy drone shots with some catchy, insta reel trending music in the background & some borrowed caption to go with it. Get the drone down and the reality will be exposed.
Finally the Secunderabad Cantonment will cease to exist and will be merged with GHMC. Hope the roads get wider, better and the land bank is not encroached.
Went to pick biryani from Bawarchi as I was on that side of the city. Decided to check the new steel bridge (flyover) at Indira Park. I saw this.
Atrocious.
Penalise them heavily. Counselling and all is utter waste.

@CVAnandIPS
The passage of time has cast its own effect on single screen theatres which fell prey to chain of multiplexes in the past decade or so.
Throughout the 70s until early 2000, SANGEET was the destination for movies. It was sheer nostalgia!

) Thanks for this.
Financial District/Knowledge City needs something like this. Areas cluttered with commercial building (IT parks) and high rush hour traffic volume.
(Video: Manila, Philippines)
This is first time I saw the Ambedkar Statue and the new Secretariat building close enough after attending a meeting at the Secretariat and People's Plaza.
Ambedkar Ji is pointing towards North-East as if to say - Now, go and develop this side of the city. 😌😌
Hussain Sagar Lake in it's glorious days.
The original circumference of the lake was 17.6 kms now reduced to just about 9 km.
The bund in the second image was constructed at a cost of 254,636.
No other city has topography like Hyderabad.
Why would most localities be named (with a suffix) gutta, konda, banda, guda, gadda. We get our water from the rocks.
The city's rocks are older than the Himalayas. We are brazenly razing, destroying our hydrological systems.
What more can activists do? They rushed to

early today to shove away this JCB driver but not before he destroyed a bit more of 2.5 billion-yr-old rock formations.
@arvindkumar_ias
sir, you had promised fencing last yr. No progress on that front yet.

Passed by the James Street Police Station this morning. The restored clock tower started chiming. It was 6 am,/the chiming was "kind of" lost in the cacophony of the sounding vehicles.
An early 1900s image of James St. Wonder how it sounded, how far it was heard in those days.

the world of Indian television witnessed its first colourful show in the year 1982. Doordarshan brought the world of colour TV to India.
The signature tune was composed by Pandit Ravi Shankar and Ustad Ali Ahmed Hussain Khan.
Sheer nostalgia.
Pigeons are a big menace. Wonder why people think it is fancy to feed them and take pictures against the backdrop pigeons in flight. Pigeons are a slow poison.
In an earlier era.
In the background is partially visible DYANORA TV hoarding. It was founded in 1973 as a JV between Tamil Nadu Industrial Dev. Corp & businessman Obul Reddy. Author/entrepreneur Ravi Menon combined the terms “dynamic” & “ora” to create the name “Dyanora.”
1/ Hyderabad ke Angoor!!
Do you know that Hyderabad is one of the foremost viticultural centres of our country. The Grape Research Station, Rajendra Nagar caters to the needs of grape growers of Telangana.
Highest number of cafes/restaurants per in the city will be on the Sainik Puri street 🙂
Now opening soon:
- Karim's (Delhi)
- Babai Hotel
- Bar/Lounge (another of their lounge is on Rd. No.45)
- Barracks / Ante Room (supposedly owned by A Rayudu)
100th Birthday of Mrs. Tripata Sharma, resident of West Marredpally, mother of Rakesh Sharma, the first Indian to travel to space.
The man in the mask is Rakesh Sharma.
THIS IS IT!!
Another addition to the growing number of cafes on the Sainik Puri main road. Nice outdoor seating. Cozy indoor ambience.
This is in an independent house located between the 10D & Starbucks building.

Traffic blocked at Neredmet X Roads.
Ambulance stuck.
Massive traffic jam.
All because a bunch of irresponsible and unruly followers of an MLAs son decide to celebrate his birthday on the main road & burst crackers.

Will be doing a thread on yesteryear cinema halls of Hyderabad.
Anyone has some interesting facts about old theatres pls share or DM.
Eg: There used to be Sagar theatre in Abids. People used to carry newspapers to burn them to get rid of bed bugs under the seats.
After years of delay, the Moula Ali to Sanathnagar MMTS Phase II seems to be moving at a fast pace.
Pic: Ballast and track work at Bhoodevi Nagar (Lothkunta).
Went to Cafe Niloufer this afternoon. Surprised they don't serve/have provision for potable water. I was asked to buy packaged water costing 80 rupees for 1 ltr bottle. They don't even have the regular Kinley/Bisleri/Aqua Fina 500 ml/1 ltr bottles.
These were timeless beauties parked in front of Madrassa-e-Aliya, Abids. There were times when grooms would arrive for their wedding in these luxurious open-top cars.
Sadly few remain now.

The festival of Bonalu is becoming more of a show of political strength and less of religious fervour.
Each party trying to outdo the other in erecting those round flexis, standees on the median and flexis at all prominent junctions closer to the temple.
This happened in Bengaluru.
Poor passenger. Cab driver refuses to turn-on the a/c and insists on communicating in Kannada only.
Such chauvinism has to end, be it any city.
Hot outside at 8:30 am.
In our residential society WA group someone sent a message that they want to cut a huge tree because cleaning the dry leaves is getting difficult. GHMC workers clean the lanes every alternate day.
When will we realise importance of trees & green cover.
Photographic evidence that the entire area east of Durgam Cheruvu is lake ftl encroachment. The image was taken in 1983 on the old Madhapur village road which was then a single lane road.

What is supposed to be done by the GHMC on a regular basis was done by concerned citizens to keep their roads/locality/surroundings clean.
Volunteers took up cleaning of the RK Puram stretch starting from the flyover.
Looks at the amount of trash discarded recklessly.
Imagine the traffic congestion "if" all the projects are sold out and people start residing in them + all tech companies have mandatory 5 day work from office.
RK Puram lake was once home to bevy of beautiful birds. It was huge & during rainy season the overflowing water traveled all the way to Safilguda lake (Mini Tank Bund).
Sadly it is now in a pitiful condition and nothing good is likely to happen too.
This was in 1996-97.
Shared many times on various social media platforms, this image seems to have been taken from the present day DCP North/Secbad Cantonment office premises.
The church still exists and in the background is the Parade Grounds.
Had a meeting at Knowledge City. After that watched the

1/ The Kapra lake which was once over 100 acres is now sadly reduced to about 30-40 acres. A group of A group of concerned citizens uniting as a lake protecting warriors have come forward to save the lake from encroachments and pollution.
If everything goes and sits in and around the Durgam Cheruvu Lake & T-Hub the area will be unimaginably chaotic.
There are several lakes crying for attention. De-risk and spread the growth/cosmetic appeal all across the city.
Exciting news for Hyderabad! Durgam Cheruvu Lake to get a theme park soon! The Telangana government plans to develop the lake and surrounding areas into a major tourist destination. Get ready for a fun-filled experience
