The secret to better ball striking? Keep that body moving! I’ve heard from so many of you that this video gave you a great picture for what the body should be doing. If you haven’t tried it yet, give it a go.
So many golfers I cross paths with need to educate their body on what it’s like to move correctly in the golf swing. They’ve spent far too many hours sitting and sedentary. This is a simple one with the keys being to get the lead shoulder and hip behind the ball going back and
A great way to get a feel for that PGA Tour "two cheek" impact! Stop the club at last parallel and feel as open as you can a few times before giving it a hit…

The incredible thing is that this is the top player in the world today. I grew up in the Faldo era where it was quiet/precision/stable. I love it that we, the golf instruction community, will never again (🙏🏾) teach this OUT of a good young player. 🤓
If you’d like to know which tee markers you should be playing from, take your (actual) 5 iron CARRY distance and multiply by 36. Mine is 185 x 36 = 6,660 yards.

The more I watch, and understand, this from
@BrettRumford
, the more I’m convinced that this is an exceptional way to learn, and improve, your golf. Try it!

This is a great maintenance move to keep up with if you have periods of no/little play or practice. Lead shoulder down first and across second. Get to it good peoples!
People are amazing! He’s so slow, his swing is ugly, anchoring, his back will never hold up, steroids. Here’s a kid who worked his butt off and uses every legitimate edge he can find. Is that not what we’d like to see from every athlete?
I love this simple exercise! Club across the shoulders and point the handle at the ball in the backswing. Feel lead side shortening and trail side extending in the backswing and then vice versa in the through swing. A great reminder of what the body needs to be feeling.
No more banana slices! Honestly. I use this exercise just about every day on my lesson tee and it works like a charm. If you are a slicer and you’re not doing this, I feel bad for you. Give it a go! 😘
Hey kiddies if you fire 68/69/68 on the Web Tour this week that’s pretty good! 💪🏾 Problem is there are 50 players ahead of ya. 🤣 Leave Fornite alone and go practice.
Here are my observations on the Spieth chip I posted the other day:
1. Feet close together and close to the ball (VSP)
2. Ball appears to be somewhat back in the stance
3. Love the left toe tap (cadence)
4. Club head works high to low and long to short
5. Angle of attack would be
If you struggle with hooks this is the challenge for you! Ball on a tee, 7 iron and start small. Objective - launch the ball outside the alignment rod, while the club head arcs inside the rod. I’ve got a strong feeling that if you can do this ‘simple’ challenge you will stop
If you’d like to play better golf, find a way to mess up less. It’s not more birdies, it’s fewer doubles. Wise decisions, fewer heroics and truly knowing who you are as a golfer are integral to owning these upgrades. 🤓😇
Here’s a great video of TW hitting pitch shots. Please watch this four times (if you can🤩) paying attention to the following elements through impact:
1. Hand path 2. Head position 3. Trail side 4. Lead arm. Go!( Thanks to

Tried and tested! Doing this exercise will give you a better sense for compression, the face angle on the way down, hands in front at impact and a few other nice positives. It’s not easy, but you’ll pick it up quickly.
It’s crazy how well this exercise works! It’s not easy but a little persistence and you’ll have a good sense of how the face and hands need to be working on the way down and through the strike. Ball should fly low and short while doing the drill.
At all costs, the handle must beat the clubhead to the ball! It’s imperative. How? Get the clubface stronger on the way down, have the appropriate intent, drive the pelvis/weight forward in the downswing. This leads to shaft lean and a slight descending strike - bingo!
I see no swinging down the line, I see no holding on, I see no rolling of the hands. I see the clubhead arcing inwards soon after impact, I see the hands arcing inwards prior to impact. 🤓

I received an Apple Watch for Christmas. I’ve learned that when you walk a golf course you burn 700-800 calories and walk 7-8 miles! Lose the golf cart and walk. You might just play better too. 💪🏾💪🏾
If you struggle with fats and thins then this is a feel you should be trying. Surf the wave!🏄🏽♂️🌊 Keep the lead side low for as long as you possibly can in the downswing and watch in wonder as your ball striking drastically improves. Give it a go!

As a golf professional it’s easy to lose your love for playing the game. It’s not that you don’t enjoy it, it’s just not as fun as it once was. I’m so happy that my love has returned! I literally cannot wait to get out there tomorrow.
Here’s a drill are used to improve compression. Start with the shaft parallel, the lead wrist bowed and the face tilted downward. As you go half way back work to keep the wrist and the face in the same position all the way through the strike.

The better the player the more attention they offer to the details! Ball position can always be on point with a system like this. Irons: step equal step. Long irons, hybrids and fairways: small step and bigger step. Driver: big step. Now go and work your system!

Hey golfers: Inflated club distances lead to inflated scores! Stop it. Know your carry numbers and guys, keep it real, and leave the ego at home.
#andrewricegolf
I love the crispness of a long (backswing) to short (follow through) chipping motion. I don’t see too many good chippers who go short to long. Give this a try for improved quality of strike!
#andrewricegolf
If you’re a hooker you need this! Tee a ball up and use an 8i. Place an alignment rod in the ground approximately 15” in front of your ball. Go softly and work towards the ball starting right of the rod with the club head arcing back inside the rod. It’s noooot as easy as it
Flipping is often the product of a stalled pivot. Keep your trail side firing through impact with this timeless and simple little drill. With a narrow stance, drop the trail foot back and rehearse the feel before giving it a go!
Notice how early the weight/pressure transitions to the lead side here. A great drill to try for anyone who has the TMI’s! (Too Much Info) Extinguish unnecessary swing thoughts by practicing this drill.

I think this might be the sneakiest, most underutilized teaching tool in the game. There are so many interesting and creative ways to get the club face message across with it.
#andrewricegolf
I like this idea! He may be looking at the ball at impact, but his face/head has initiated rotation, while somebody else might be looking at the ball at impact and no rotation has been initiated. Big difference.
If you’re looking to shallow your swing or just simply improve your downswing, the best method is often to improve the position of the clubhead at the top. Here’s an idea that will help with that objective. Give it a go!
I call it 9 to 3. A simple, yet integral, little shot that I discuss and teach often. A crispy strike, where the ball sizzles low off the face. Seven iron is perfect. If you can do this you’re well on your way. If not, keep going.
#andrewricegolf
Young coaches - please don’t buy into this anti-tech hype that’s floating around! You’ll learn so much faster teaching with tech than teaching without.

If you’d like to get longer, and you should, then this is an absolute no-brainer exercise. (BTW the biggest and best swing I’ve made in a decade!) Take a 4-6 pound med ball and, starting over your lead foot, hoist it as high as you can into the backswing. A top stretch and
Two highly functional golfers that reside on opposite ends of the spectrum. The “shallow glider” vs the “trapper”! Rocco & Jordan. Either one can work! Most golfers will fit nicely somewhere between these two extremes.
If you can swing a 7i over 75mph please don’t buy distance/face flex irons. You need more control/precision and not more length. It’s should be about dispersion, not distance.
Average proximity from the hole for a 150 yard shot from the fairway:
PGA Tour - 23 feet
Scratch golfer - 31 feet
80 shooter - 42 feet
90 shooter - 56 feet
Aim and plan accordingly in order to save a few extra strokes.
This is an important one to understand. The lower the strike on the face the higher the spin rate will be. Each of these three strikes produced a significantly different spin rate. The orange circle was the highest, with the RPM decreasing as the strike moved up the face. If
A few things in golf that are simply not true:
1. You must hit down to make it go up
2. Grain grows toward the setting sun
3. We've got a 1-club wind today
4. These grooves really spin the ball
5. I could tell from the divot where that one went
🤓

I think we all should be playing two different tee heights. The low one is what I would refer to as a “go to” tee shot. Typically for a narrower fairway and one where we are going to play a little bit more shape, yet still stay aggressive. The high one where we are going to give
To be world class you’ll need to start with the following:
1. Bulletproof temperament
2. High club speed
3. Technique to manage the club face
4. Short game touch/finesse
A huge factor in determining spin rate off the driver is impact location! These were three back to back shots: Orange 3300; Green 2600; Blue 1900. Same speed and intent for each swing. If you’d like to improve your spin rate start with impact location! 🌪

A lesson I clearly need to relearn - never, ever post anything that might be perceived as being, even slightly, political. The comments and divisiveness both here and on IG are saddening. I fear that social media is doing us no favors. 😩
If you’re feeling stuck or perhaps have too much technical stuff running through your head try this. Heck, we should all be doing on a regular basis. The pressure shift, the rhythm and the freedom it brings is second to none. Get it! (Excuse the hair😳)

! Every golf coach and club fitter should have this chart readily available. Where do you fall and what should your appropriate spin rate be? PS - if you’re hitting down more than 2° you need a lesson and not a fitting!🤓

Lag is still, and always will be, a thing! If you struggle with casting/tossing/throwing the clubhead early in the downswing, I have a feel exercise for you. Create an obstacle for the downswing like a basket of balls (or anything) and peg an alignment rod in the ground just
It’s not often I keep a golf swing in my phone for 6+ years, but this is the swing of Maxwell Moldovan from 2017! Maxwell is currently a junior at Ohio State and will be playing in his second US Open this week. He’s a fine young man with a swing that’s almost as good!🤩 (PS I
If your ball flight is weak, and overly high, then this is the feel for you. A brand new exercise I have never seen anybody do before. Give this one a try!
