Just landed in Vegas with a plane full of Penguins fans. We land and someone loudly shouts “Let’s Go Pens.” Cheers ring throughout the plane (which is actually coming from Chicago). This is going to be an awesome game tomorrow night.
After 10 years, 3 months, and 17 days, my time with
@penguins
has drawn to a close.
In the wake of significant organizational changes, I stand at a pivotal moment, bidding farewell to a major life chapter - one that was filled with passion, dedication, & unforgettable memories.
Congratulations to Penguins Senior Director of New Media,
@AndiPerelman
, on being named a "Rising Star" by

.
The list honors a group of younger executives that have an impact on how business is done in communities across the nation.
Unlike seemingly everyone I follow, I...
Didn’t get married this decade.
Didn’t have any babies this decade.
Didn’t get a dog this decade.
But I circumnavigated the globe, bought a house, and got two Stanley Cup rings though. I did pretty okay.
Today’s mail:

2. Note: “Y’all seem to be having problems with injuries lately. If this happens to accidentally catch fire, smolder, and someone were to go on a walk around the arena to exorcise some evil spirits, it would all be coincidental, yes?”
Anyone have a match?
Flight attendant: Is there a doctor on this flight?
Dad: *nudging me* that should've been you.
Me: Not now, Dad.
Dad: Not asking for a social media director to help, eh?
Me: Dad, there's a medical emergency happening right now.
Dad: Go see if live tweeting it will help.
A few things to avoid if you want to work in sports (a thread):
1. Saying ‘hell no’ to looking at job listings.
2. DMing your potential future employer ‘goodnight ily’.
3. Promising endless persistence, and forgetting to follow through after less than five days.

Vegas wins the WCF. Engelland turns to Fleury to see if he should touch the trophy.
Fast forward.
Washington defeats Tampa and win the Eastern Conference. Ovechkin turns to Orpik to see if he should touch the trophy.
I think the Pens just officially killed that superstition.

on competing in the Skills Comp: “My first impression was, ‘I can do this’. Speed is my strength. I was a little nervous, but I knew it was a moment that was going to break a lot of barriers & would change the perception and show support to our game.”
If you are one of the people tweeting jokes about Jack Johnson after the birth announcement for his baby boy... It’s not funny, it makes me sad, and I don’t want to read your hot takes.
PSA: Working in social can be difficult.
Last week Rust tumbled into the boards and left practice briefly. He returned and the update was “he is fine.”
When I got the roster that night, he wasn’t on it. We posted the lineup. And then I got this message on Facebook.
Be better.
Sidney Crosby's brain before his third goal: There is a force pushing perpendicular to the boards, but there is also a frictional force parallel to the wall. This friction force changes the momentum and exerts a torque on the puck.
Tristan Jarry on Alex Letang: "He was telling everyone he was going to take their jobs eventually. It was fun."
MC of
@PensInsideScoop
: "Is he going to take your job too?"
Jarry: "I hope not, but he did threaten me."
I am safe, but heartbroken.
Heartbroken for the victims and their families, but also because now people will feel unprotected in a place that should feel like a safe haven - somewhere people can go for community & guidance.
Tree of Life Synagogue is in my thoughts and prayers.
Guys, all this Crosby milestone content is going to be A W E S O M E.
Super impressive compilation of content from across the organization. I can’t wait for everyone to see it all.
And now that it’s mostly drafted and ready to launch to the world, I’m going to bed a happy lady!
Spoiler for those who don’t click links:
Sid said he’d househunt for the Cullen family.
He also offered to drive Schultz to the plane on his first road trip.
Can confirm - 87 is a first-rate human.
You know: Sidney Crosby is an exceptional talent on the ice - he's a humble, team-oriented guy, with incredible work ethic.
You might not know: Sid is just as exceptional off the ice.
Believe us, you'll want to read this:

Me: I have so much room for activities!
The first person to walk by and see my monitor: “This is a physical representation of hell.”

Working in social media can be stressful - long hours, high expectations, and when you make a mistake everyone knows.
But most of the time, it’s awesome.
Happy Social Media Day.

On January 15, 2014 the Penguins posted this photo on Instagram.
On January 16, 2014 I started working for the Penguins.
To this day, this photo is the most liked Instagram post on our account. More than Cup content... everything. It has always been a mystery. Anyone know why?
82 posts were sent from the Penguins on trades and signings this season…
55 of them were from July 1 until today.
A few were posted from a bday pool party… Some were from UMD while picking up my cousin… and one was on the way to book club. Smiling through them all 😃
My favorite part of the Dads’ Trip? All the behind-the-scenes Dad jokes and fatherly moments.
Here are some of my faves:
1. Mr. Kuhnhackl insisting to buy me ice cream. “The cookie one is so good.”
2. Mr. Cole being concerned I didn’t have a jacket in the cold.
Some stats from today's
#SportsSummit19
:
1. Videos that are less than 1 minute drive 97.5% more replies.
2. Questions start conversations. If you ask a question, it will get 85% more retweets, 85% more replies, 25% more impressions, 26% more positive reaction.

on more women competing in the Skills Comp: “I think the NHL took that stance. They made that statement. I was fortunate to be a part of a lot of people pushing for it - a lot of hard conversations. I’m thankful for the opportunity. I think it went pretty well.”
My first season at the Penguins, I fought for my Bubbe, who passed away from breast cancer when I was young.
A few years ago, I started fighting for her daughter, my Aunt.
This year is the first year fighting for my Grandpa too.
Cancer sucks.

…I am deeply honored to have worked with so many brilliant coworkers and friends over the years. While the path forward is uncertain, I'll embrace it with optimism and an open mind. As one door closes, a window opens. Onward and upward to a new and exciting era.
Women belong in sports.
I’ve met great friends, incredibly talented hockey players, and some of the most creative marketers I know from being a part of the hockey community.

The top women’s national teams are competing less than 30 minutes from my house.
My Dad is Canadian.
My mom is American.
I’m both.
So, 🇨🇦 or 🇺🇸, you ask?
The best women’s hockey players in the world are competing in my city. That’s a win-win.
Women belong in sports.
If anyone is giving you a hard time with that idea, My DMs are open and I’m ready to fight alongside you. Let me know how I can help.

When people say “Do you just tweet all day?”... I’m going to send them this.
Here’s an inside look at what it’s like to run social for the

It’s the ✨partnership✨for me.
Spending more time scrolling and coming up with wild ideas for

Working on a lot of offseason reports... Here’s one stat that really surprised me: The
@penguins
gained more Twitter followers this season (Sept. 1, 2017 - today) than the Golden Knights. Unreal.
Some people drink champagne or beer out of the Stanley Cup... The first and only time I drank out of the Cup,
@ICole28
hooked me up with some coffee. ☕️
I’m definitely going to miss the two social media superstars with huge personalities who got traded yesterday.
When I was a kid, going to Pens games with my family was ‘my happy place’.
These days, I watch my computer most of the game. That being said, last night the energy from the arena was palpable. The magic is still here.
And tickets are still available for Tuesday’s game 😉
Over the past decade, I have undergone substantial personal growth - and so have the Penguins. When I joined the team in January 2014, the social media landscape and the Penguins' marketing department looked nothing like what it grew to be. I am immensely proud of what we built…

Miss you, Penguins fans. I would have loved to see everyone’s reaction to today’s Party Hard surprise.
I hope everyone is staying safe, healthy, and is enjoying cheaper beers at home.
Fun fact: Guentzel & Crosby came to our room on creative day at different times... I was convinced I wouldn’t remember which way Jake turned, so I had both players turn both ways.
@EthanMansberger
killed it w/ the edit. Especially keying out those green gloves! Oops.

So basically,
It's a win-win-win-win-win-lose situation 🏆

Yesterday my dad turned 60.
In August, he planned to go on a safari in Africa with my mom and some friends.
Because of the pandemic, the trip was canceled.
Today, we surprised him with a hometown ‘safari’ (a drive through the zoo with decorations, cake, and Lion King tunes) 🙂
I brought in my childhood computer monitor as a prop for this video shoot on creative day.
By the time we were done, we disrupted every other set with our noise and my monitor was in four pieces. 😂
We promise '90s night will be better than '90s internet.

A woman ran Coach Sullivan's media availability.
A woman sent this tweet.
Today we recognize a few of the many talented women who don't take the ice, but help the Penguins organization thrive every day.

I know it was 2009 and Twitter was still new... but this tweet haunts my dreams.
I’m so glad it can be redeemed as we start live tweeting 2009 Stanley Cup Final games next week.
See you Monday at 7:00 PM for Game 3.
