The South African Rugby Team's 2023 Rugby World Cup victory has led to a nationwide trophy tour, attracting hundreds of thousands of fans eager to catch a glimpse of their heroes. However, the sad reality is many of these devoted fans cannot afford to attend matches.
The plan is
🇿🇦 Handre Pollard did not miss a single goal kick the entire RWC - the three knockout matches saw the Springboks win by 1-point.
4/4 vs Tonga 🇹🇴
2/2 vs France 🇫🇷 (QF)
3/3 vs England 🏴 (SF)
4/4 vs New Zealand 🇳🇿 (F)
13/13 - 100% goal kicking accuracy 🎯
Whatever the result on Saturday, South Africa have had arguably the toughest RWC run in history.
Playing every single one of the top 6 rugby teams in the world.
Manie Libbok’s performance last night will go undercover because it wasn’t what many fans are used to from him.
Because what he did so well was KICK. Not his goal kicking (but he did that well too), but his cross field kicks - they were unbelievably good.
Accurate & efficient.
I have never been his biggest fan, but Owen Farrell has been incredibly classy in the 10 minutes post loss.
I’m beyond impressed, and it would be unfair of me to overlook it simply because of prior behaviour.
Great moment as the Boks walked off the bus to the awards ceremony tonight.
After dropping the players off, the bus begins to drive off and grinds to a halt because Libbok was still inside 😂
He must have fallen asleep at the back 😂
Sir Clive Woodward just said he would leave “Mapimpi” on at Hooker instead of bringing on “this loose-forward bloke” at Hooker.
ITV have been shocking this entire World Cup.
Kolbe has been Arendse, Arendse has been Kolbe. Nche and Nyakane mixed up often.
It’s amateur now.
Now imagine this scene...
Siya Kolisi steps down from the stands in his blazer and white sneakers. Anger in his eyes.
He walks up to Mathieu Raynal and says "You're a f***king disgrace"
Of course this is just hypothetical, no international rugby captain would ever do that.
The new illegal scrum technique that really needs a look at 👇
It took me only 10 mins to find these clips because Tom Curry is a repeat offender. It is dangerous and World Rugby need to have a look at it because it currently seems to be ignored by referees.
Message for Springbok fans 🇿🇦
Take your mind back 4 years ago, the Springboks were building up to a final against England and all of the media and fans were not giving the Boks a chance. Many "combined XV’s” included just one SA player.
Let's not be like that. Learn from it.
Doris is a quality player, but hopefully people don’t try compare him and Savea again.
Ardie Savea is one of the most unbelievable rugby players I’ve ever seen.
I have heard a lot of people saying Owen Farrell is "NOT a serial offender"
So here is a video of his tackle "Technique" with the appropriate soundtrack.

I know it’s a South African pastime to mock/complain about DSTV/MultiChoice…
But to get access to the same Sports matches as SuperSport (DSTV) has, in England you’d need:
Sky Sports (£35)
Premier Sports (£15)
TNT Sport (£20)
Amazon Prime (£9)
Total = £79 or R 1,897 per month.
Rassie and Nienaber with another rugby innovation.
4 Scrumhalves each taking a channel of the pitch and feeding quick ball from the rucks. Constant ball off 9.
It’s the next rugby revolution 👀😂
I remember seeing a few people suggesting that South Africa’s Japanese based players simply could not get to the level required for Test Rugby because they “only” play in J1.
Tell that to:
Damian de Allende
Jesse Kriel
Pieter-Steph du Toit
Kwagga Smith
Franco Mostert
+ more.
France, you were incredible 🇫🇷
That was the best South African performance I’ve ever seen.
And that was also the best opposition performance I’ve ever seen.
Simply unbelievable
I wonder what New Zealand’s “The Breakdown” is going to say this time.
They often have some interesting takes...
After the 35-7 loss to the Boks a few weeks ago the focus was on the 7-1 bench.
What will their excuses be this time? Or will they accept the defeat?
World Rugby have really missed something here.
By allowing someone to wear a blazer with white sneakers without consequences, they are setting a precedent that may lead to irreversible repercussions.
Children watching will now believe this is acceptable behaviour (1/2)
Using that flawless ‘1-point’ logic, the best NZ team of all time beat the Springboks in the semi-final of the 2015 RWC by 2-points.
A Springbok team that lost to Japan that same World Cup…
Nobody is using that result to discredit the 2015 All Blacks.
This SA era still couldn't win a full Rugby Championship title despite in 2022 playing lowest NZ team in over 20+ years *both* times at home. And now some genuinely think they are in conversation for best of all time after a 1 point win vs 14 men NZ. LOL.
Now that we know the result I think it’s fair to say…
That was the toughest RWC win in history 🏆🇿🇦
Unlikely to ever see such a difficult route to winning it ever again.
Whatever the result on Saturday, South Africa have had arguably the toughest RWC run in history.
Playing every single one of the top 6 rugby teams in the world.
Never has a Springbok team had such an emotional connection with its fans. Yet, regardless of tonight’s result, this era ends in a maximum of 2 weeks… 🇿🇦
🧵 A quick thread of the Bok team/staff that have recaptured the nations imagination since 2018 👇
Let’s be honest. Ireland would have swept away Argentina comfortably and the headline would have been
“Incredible Ireland storm to maiden RWC Final: Can anyone stop them from their destiny!”
No matter who won between NZ/IRE this game was always going to be a thrashing.
The entirely legal tackle on Jordie Barrett had the NZ fans in stadium baying for blood. In fact, they were booing at every opportunity in the hope for cards to be given to SA players.
So don’t buy this “we don’t want cards” or “cards ruin games” spiel. They just don’t want
It’s taken some time, but Kwagga Smith is finally getting the credit he deserves.
A fantastic player who just happened to be unlucky enough to play the same position as the Springbok’s greatest ever captain 🇿🇦
Generally plays 30 mins, fit enough to play a 100 mins. 🦓
Realistically, the greatest rugby nations of all time probably look something like this:
1. New Zealand 🇳🇿
2. South Africa 🇿🇦
3. Australia 🇦🇺
4/5. England/France 🏴🇫🇷
6. Wales 🏴
7/8/9. Ireland/Scotland/Argentina
❓Hypothetical question, if South Africa win the World Cup do they leapfrog New Zealand as the greatest rugby nation of all time?
South Africa will have have won four World Cups, compared to NZs three.
However, New Zealand will still have:
- Greatest win % of any side
-
@Numinous09
I mean, even if he went out the very next ball, this 6 runs would have taken SA to a super over purely off the final result? Not even taking into account Miller would have still be in. Soooooo?
Got to feel for Bongi Mbonambi…
Injured after 22 mins in the 2019 RWC Final and injured after 3 mins in the 2023 RWC Final.
Obviously he walked away with two winners medals, but you know he is the type of player who is gutted beyond belief that he couldn’t contribute more 🇿🇦
Cameron Hanekom with a statement performance.
And he may have just secured the Springbok
#8
shirt in the Ireland test series.
I wouldn’t rule out Roos, or even Louw and Kwagga, but he has just performed incredibly against a largely Irish pack.
Not everyone gets to got to a World Cup Final live.
Not Everyone gets to see their team win the Rugby World Cup.
I got both today, and I will not take this moment for granted. This is something I’ll cherish for the rest of my life.
For Mzansi 🇿🇦
I’m a critic of how bad South African Rugby fans can be with referees etc.
But after the last two weekends, I can’t accept that it’s a “South African” problem. It’s a rugby problem.
The French media are still going on about O’Keefe and England fans and media have piled on too.
Quinton de Kock (407 runs) is 78 runs behind Jacques Kallis’ South African record of most runs in a single Cricket World Cup campaign (485 runs).
Kallis played 10 matches, de Kock has played 5 so far.
Frans Steyn has retired from rugby…

3 x Currie Cup winner 🏆

1 x Euro Challenge Cup winner 🏆

A Springbok legend 💚
ERROR 1: All blacks knock on the ball, and it is missed by the referee and two assistants.
ERROR 2: The right call is made, but the TMO goes outside the “2 phases” the the law allows for.
Two mistakes made, but the 2nd actually fixes the 1st. So the net outcome is correct ✅
Rugby referees have one of the hardest jobs in sport given the pace of the game and the complexity of the laws, they’re always going to make mistakes.
But when TMOs, who have time & replays, make errors like this, it’s unforgivable.
That ‘error’ should never ever be happening.
It will always be crazy to me that Cheslin Kolbe only has 29 caps.
To put that in perspective RG Snyman made his debut the same year (2018) as Kolbe, and then missed Test rugby between 2019-2023 and still has 32 caps.
Shows how unlucky Kolbe has been with injuries too.
The Siya Kolisi captaincy question is intriguing because he was the only player to meet the four key requirements:
1. Guaranteed starter (Min 60 mins)
2. Good communicator
3. Position (close to ref)
4. Local based
No players currently meet those requirements…👇

What’s the deal with this NH vs SH narrative?
Every few years we have a NH pundit saying “The Northern Hemisphere is the dominant force in rugby”.
Most of the Northern Hemisphere teams hate each-other, so why is there this supposed comradery between the North?
Remember when a certain former England international said this wasn’t even a penalty?
I’m now hearing English fans claiming the George Ford challenge should be a red card?
Possibly an Unpopular opinion. But I think last night was Manie Libbok’s best game.
Not because he was scoring tries and doing crazy things… but because it was a proper test flyhalf performance.
Excellent kicking for touch, great game management, 100% kicking for polls.
Something Libbok has been consistently excellent at for the Springboks is his touchline kicks.
Always gets spectacular metres from our penalties. Something nobody else has been able to do in a Springbok jumper for many years.
It's understandable why this Ben Smith hates the Boks so much. Since his troll account was created the Boks have
2 x Rugby World Cups 🏆
1 x Lions Series 🏆
1 x Record victory vs All Blacks (35-7)
+ U20 Boks are on a 4 match unbeaten run vs U20 All Blacks.
"Undefeated" Ben?
If Handre Pollard did not kick at 100% in all of those 3 knockouts (which is far from common) South Africa would have likely lost those matches.
All 1-point wins. No margin for errors.
Just a note on Siya Kolisi 🇿🇦
He is playing his first rugby match since April 22nd - post injury (meniscus tear).
He will require time to get back to form. So just back him.
For context, Lukhanyo Am played 1056 mins post injury and still didn’t look himself…
Being a South African I’m not allowed to talk about refereeing decisions without it being “typical Saffa blah blah blah”
So would an Irish fan like to explain that ruck incident with Joe McCarthy? 😂
There is some misinformation going around…
There aren’t 4 RWC trophies. Those 3 on the bottom shelf are replicas. You can see that they are different colours, and lack the same amount of detail as the original trophy.
The real Webb Ellis Cup is never kept by the winners.
DAMIAN DE ALLENDE 🇿🇦
Often one of the most misunderstood and unappreciated Springbok players to many fans, de Allende had an incredible RWC in 2023. Data via
@Oval_Insights
.
His numbers were just incredible 👇
Seems like there are already people questioning Hendrikse's selection at 10. Here is one factor that may have influenced things:
Tackle Success this season:
Hendrikse - 118/135 = 87%
Libbok - 65/101 = 65%
Masuku - 65/106 = 61%
Excitement all around as coach Rassie Erasmus names the first Bok squad for the year! 🤩
Four debutants and 50 up for a stalwart! 🇿🇦

I have just noticed that the Springbok U-20’s forwards pack (vs Australia) in 2015 was:
1. Ox Nche
2. Joseph Dweba
3. Thomas du Toit
4. Jason Jenkins
5. RG Snyman
6. Jacques Vermeulen
7. Jean-Luc du Preez
8. Hanro Liebenberg
Monsters. All of them.
A real shame that Shannon Frizell’s challenge on Mbonambi has ruled him out from both a RWC Final (2nd time for Bongi) and now an entire season.
Rest up Bongi 🇿🇦
The Springbok hooker was forced off with a knee injury in the opening minutes of the World Cup final.

Lukhanyo Am is looking significantly more mobile, comfortable and confident than he did for the Sharks last season.
It’s been 11 months since he first returned from the original injury - and he is starting to look himself again 🇿🇦 a good example of how initial recovery time
I have a feeling World Rugby are behind why we saw so few highlights of controversial plays tonight.
Those “French TV director” comments may have led to some sort of action from their part because the highlights were very… neutral?
Has there ever been a more complete forward in Springbok professional history than Duane Vermeulen in his prime?
- Ball carrier
- Fetcher
- Defensive organiser
- Lineout jumper
- Maul expert
- Dominant tackler
- Leader
- Comfortable under highball
Summary, “supposedly” WR say:
- PSDT should have got a yellow 🟨
- Penaud should have got a yellow 🟨
- Kwagga turnover penalty shouldn’t have counted but SA should have had a pen much closer to the polls.
- Ramos conversation should have been retaken.
Essentially, they even

The French school choir renditions will face their greatest challenge on Sunday during the South Africa match.
French kids singing in multiple languages all foreign to them? What could go wrong!
The All Blacks are 3 from 9 against SA, IRE and FRA since getting obliterated in the 2019 World Cup. And have avoided England since that defeat. 33%. Let that sink in. A team made up of NZ, Samoa, Fiji and Tonga is at 33%?
Apologies from Ben Smith fans will be accepted below 👇
