The whole school gathered this morning at Assembly to say goodbye to Mr Dyer. We would like to thank him and his wife Penny for everything that they have done for Ampleforth College, and wish them both all the best for the future.

On the way back from London after our carol concert, some of the Schola entertained passengers stuck on the train for hours after cable damage shut all lines. There were many compliments about their exemplary behaviour and positive efforts to keep everyone going. We are so proud!
“This school has really got under my skin” - we are delighted to announce that Robin Dyer will be staying on as Head of Ampleforth College until at least January 2022. Read his latest update here:

Faith schools are an important part of our education system.
@AmpleforthColl
has had past problems which are now behind it, but I believe some people in the educational system are using recent relatively minor issues as a pretext to close the school.
The whole school gathered today for a poignant ceremony to mark the passing of HM The Queen. As the National Anthem played, the Union Flag was lowered to half-mast as we prayed for the Queen and country and blessed a memorial cross before the Piper’s Lament. RIP Your Majesty.

On Wednesday, we received a heartwarming phone call from a lady who, after experiencing a severe train delay, was helped by two of our students, Joe and Bertie. They carried her bags as well as those of many other elderly passengers, helping them all onto a new train.

The flag has been flying at half-mast this week as we join the nation in mourning the passing of HRH Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. All our thoughts and prayers are with The Queen and The Royal Family at this desperately sad time.

Schola had the pleasure of meeting Cardinal Roche in the Vatican, where he gave them a copy of masses composed for St Peter’s. They sang over St Peter’s square, in the room for receiving Bishops of the world and in the liturgy department for the Cardinal – wow!
