I hired a firmware developer. I set up a laptop for him to access the hardware through debugger over TeamViewer I don't know how it's going to go, but if it makes my workload lighter, I call it a win Does anyone do that? Is there a faster and better way than using TeamViewer?

I was working on this very complicated board a year ago. It's one of the first jobs I got. It took weeks to finish I got scammed, didnt get paid. 😆 I acquired a skill after this incident which is to distinguish between people who value the work and people who are cheap scammers

These are on of the most complicated designs that I've made with my laptop. 💻 I've never made it any money 💰 because I've failed to commercialize them, but I am still proud of them 😊 Maybe one day I can afford to hire a few people and put them on the market .

Finally fixed it! The problem was the FIFO. The samples are 16-bit and the fifo outputs 8-bit sliced bytes. Basically, FIFO was handling the byte slicing, but for some reason it was outputting incorrect values. I implemented the byte slicing myself and the error went away.

I am back to investigating this weird error. I halved the clock, nothing changed. I halved the clock again, nothing changed. I'm still looking into this. A lot of people suggested me to look into the bitstream around the spikes, that's what I am going to do now. Let's go!

Google reminded me of this monstrosity. If I remember correctly, I was experimenting with very low currents and decided that the best way to prevent leakage currents was air wiring everything 😅😅 I don't remember the results...

Is there a good way to strip enameled copper wires? I use it for fixing stuff, I just need to expose the tip so that I can solder. It's got a very thin layer of plastic. It's kind of difficult to "peel". Soldering iron doesn't burn through it, which is surprising

I woke up to a nasty bug in my power supply. Even thought my power supply outputs the 24V when turn the output on, it still says "0V" on the screen.

This wasn't a good idea. Given that LM317 has 3V drop out rating. It still outputs 2.8V and everything is working somehow :)

I like symmetrical dual opamp packages. It makes the layout look better Here are two examples of differential amplifier one with symmetrical and one with a regular package. I tried to keep rotations the same. Non-symmetrical Symmetrical

Mine has this issue as well I get about 7V peak to peak across 120 ohm resistor. I doubt it is some sort of electromagnetic pick up because the load resistance is very low.

Since I started working with KiCAD, I started disliking flat designs in Altium. Interconnections between sheets look so great! I know you can do that in Altium too, but somehow before using KiCAD, I had the habit to make every design flat.

I need to implement a FIR and decimation filter for an acquistion project in an #FPGA , but first I need to select one. I am going to go with efinix or lattice because of availbility. My priorities are: Support and ready to use IPs. What do you suggest?

I couldn't find a single rs232-usb module that works with bipolar signal levels, so I had to bypass this rs232 transciever that generates bipolar signal levels to get TTL from the MCU. 0.65mm pitch, rate my work 👇👇 I am basically shorting TXs and RXs.

I get interesting signals for this board. I know that the ADC driver and the input signal is fine because I sampled from this exact circuit before with an MCU, but this time I am using an FPGA. I have strange equally spaced spike coming out of the ADC samples.

Here are two LDOs with the same SOT23-5 package. They also have the same pinout. However, their thermal coefficients are wildly different from each other. 162 vs 253 Why? I have two guesses: 🔵Larger output pass transistor 🔵Layout In any case it shouldn't be that different

I really liked NXP's configuration tool (MCUXpresso Config Tools). When you click on a specific pin on the left, it highlights which hardware it can be assigned to. When you click on a specific hardware, it shows which pin it can be assigned to. Pretty neat. I'm working on a

This little 10W charger draws almost 1A ⚠️ from the mains (120VAC) at start up. It triggers the inverter's overcurrent protection.

I ran into a job post on freelancer. This guys wanted a GPS tracker with BLE or Wi-Fi, and it should as thin as a credit card. One guy's proposal: I can do this in a day for a 30$. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I've been using LTSpice since I was a student, I never realized there is a type of simulation called "Transient Frequency Response". I think they just added that. Maybe it's a nice tool to analyze non-linear stuff?

Started on a new precision design. Here is the power supply design for the opamps. The board will be powered from a 5V source. +/-15V is generated from boost/inverter IC and it is post regulated by the LDO Luckily BOM cost is not too critical and we can use lots schmick parts 🙃
