Dickey Betts and his family want everyone to know that his surgery was a success. The outpouring of support from all over the world has been overwhelming and amazing. We are so appreciative. Thank you all so much for your wonderful thoughts and prayers. We will keep you updated.
Mac “Dr John” Rebennack, a true friend and fellow musical traveler died today. The Allman Brothers Band family express their sincere sadness in his passing. Mac played many times with the Brothers. Walk on Gilded Splinters our Old Friend, we will all meet up at The Right Place.
An update from David Spero: Donna just texted me that Dickey is “Off the respirator and doing great! Talking, laughing and, of course, complaining!” We thank you all for your love and prayers. He still has a ways to go.

On this day in 1973 the Allman Brothers Band performed in front of over half a million fans (estimated at 600K) along with The Band and the Grateful Dead at the Watkins Glen Racecourse. Here is a rare bootleg T-shirt from the concert, which is on display at the Big House Museum
50 years ago the ABB had just finished playing their Friday night show of the three night run closing down the Fillmore East... and the crowd filed out into the daylight... they don't make concerts like that anymore!
