Haikyuu’s fifth season adaptation being casually confirmed via a random ass collaboration with Cookpad Live Cafe would be peak chaos and I am here for it
Rest In Peace, Kentaro Miura. It’s impossible to overstate how many lives he touched through his beautiful storytelling and I’m so grateful to have been able to experience Berserk.
I’m kinda speechless, this is absolutely devastating.
Another totally fantastic and devastating Attack on Titan episode! The art was extremely expressive and on point, with lots of hyper-focused facial close-ups to convey the intensity and emotions. Expressions for Falco, Gabi, Zeke, Connie and Jean in particular were just amazing.
Furudate has talked about how they made up a lot of Haikyuu’s story as they went along, and sometimes I have trouble believing that because of how well-planned it seems to be. But then I remember that they named their volleyball manga “Volleyball!!” and then it makes more sense.
Haikyuu fixates on underdogs like Hinata and Hoshiumi in really beautiful ways. But it doesn't at all shy away from the flip side of that, and those who were born with advantages.
This is one of my favourite conclusions to any character arc in the series. Ushijima is wonderful.
The end of one of the greatest stories of all time. This piece of art has provided me with every emotion possible. It makes me feel such hope through exemplifying the beauty that shines through the cruelty. Truly changed my life, and I’ll always cherish Attack on Titan.
The sheer amount of copious copium I am using to cope with to gaslight myself into believing these movies won’t completely destroy the pacing is honestly unbelievable
'Haikyu!! FINAL' Anime Movies Event will be revealing new information next week in Weekly Shonen Jump Issue
#30
.
This special kick-off event is scheduled to be held in August 2023.
One Piece's Fishman Island backstory has got to be among the best in the series, it's incredibly rich and sensitive to the subject matter being tackled. Everything is on point, engaging and meaningful on multiple levels.
Not sure if this is confirmed or not but if the stories are true, I’m seriously gonna miss Nakayama’s direction Chainsaw Man’s anime. Clearly it wasn’t a style suited for everyone but I really adored it overall and never felt like it betrayed the spirit of the source material.
Naruto's Pain Assault arc has immediately become an all-time favourite of mine. Immense character work, emotional storytelling, themes on point, presentation amazing throughout. Made me feel so much. Breathtaking stuff.
If you start watching Hunter x Hunter episode 111 at 11:53:33 tonight then Morel yells “GOOOOOOOOO!!!” when the clock strikes midnight and you can begin your year with the Palace Invasion.
I think Fukurodani is one of Haikyuu's best uses of efficiency and subtext in the writing. The team doesn't get the spotlight too often, but what we do get is so telling with regards to Bokuto, Akaashi & the rest of the team, & how beautiful of a relationship they all have.
As beautiful as I’m sure this is going to look and sound, there is no way whatsoever that the rest of the story can be adapted in two movies. I don’t see how the pacing won’t be butchered. It sucks, but it looks like the manga will end up being the only proper version of Haikyuu.
I think my biggest issue with Haikyuu discourse that I’ve experienced is that some people get really upset when you talk about the characters being flawed. It’s not an insult to point out that this cast is full of real human beings, Furudate wrote them that way on purpose dude.
He’s built so different. I can’t believe that the character that I thought was “just” cool/solid after Season 1 has become one of my favourite shonen characters, but the richness and fuel for interpretation his character has is just so unreal. Imagine is Gege actually LIKED him.
Evangelion is not nihilistic whatsoever, regardless of how many humans turn into soup in it. As always, laying out plot points bereft of any thematic and emotional context while leaving out VITAL details does not prove anything about the themes of a work.
I’m rewatching Attack on Titan in preparation for the end of the anime and this is the best and worst decision ever. Every scene is so rich and agonizing. This story is the greatest.
This image is so sad and haunting. The tears in his eyes and the terrified reluctance really make it one of the most impactful anime images for me. He knows there’s no going back after this.
Bertholdt is such a sympathetic character and a microcosm of the story’s main idea.
Tanaka is not a truly excellent player in any technical sense, but despite that, (along with Daichi) he’s Karasuno’s paragon of consistency. He’s always positive, always persevering and supporting others.
I can’t wait to tell my kids that Oikawa Toru trended worldwide on Twitter because his ear was shown for half a second in an episode that had nothing to do with him. What a bedtime story that’ll make.
Whole Cake Island's finale is spectacular. This may be my favourite fight in One Piece. Katakuri is so beautifully written in terms of little details & subtext, his character isn't spelled out to us but nonetheless his dynamic with Luffy is one of the most beautiful in the story.
I dunno why Berserk was a hot and controversial topic for the past day or so but I think this is a good opportunity to say once again that Berserk is a masterpiece to end all masterpieces and there will never again be anything even remotely like it, ever
This week’s Haikyuu was jam-packed with all sorts of awesome stuff, including some amazing material for the Miya twins that really adds weight and emotion to their dynamic and really establishes their place in the narrative. However, I’d like to talk about the Nishinoya material.
I love Jujutsu Kaisen. I definitely have problems with it and wish Gege was a bit less insane with stuff sometimes, and I do understand why others don’t buy into it. But man do *I* buy in. Fights, themes, characters, integration. It’s all so good.
Oda’s patience is next level man
I’d go INSANE as a writer if I introduced a character knowing that it would likely take YEARS before the story would get to a place where I could properly expand upon them
I’m so happy, that was such an awesome Haikyuu episode. It just put all the right emphasis in all the right spots, and made it such a concentrated demonstration of why Tanaka is so awesome. Production IG starved us last week just so we could eat our fill today.
As someone who knows nothing about Chainsaw Man, the thing that struck me the most about the PV was the gigantic contrast between the very down-to-earth and melancholic scenes and the insane and bizarre, otherworldly ones they throw at us.

The Attack on Titan chapter was great and if I’m being honest, that Zeke/Armin conversation was among my favourite scenes in the series. Simple and familiar concept, but it really spoke to me.
Masterpiece, pure masterpiece. The manga hit me harder overall but there is something to be said for the consistently masterful approach to audio and bold colours throughout here that portray these cataclysmic, deeply profound moments with such quality. I was shook.
So much stuff happened in today’s amazing Haikyuu episode, which makes sense given that it was the climax of the entire thing. But the turning point of the episode was a beautiful little exhale, resulting in one of the most important moments in the series.
Phenomenal episode of Jujutsu Kaisen. So much gratitude to the staff for crafting something like this in the midst of such horrific conditions, it’s genuinely absurd how impressive that is.
I suppose that if you ignore 98% of the story and also ignore the way that sex is used as a narrative tool to explore the tortured psychology of the characters and portray the volatility of carnivore instinct, then yeah. It’s totally hentai. Pretty tame for hentai, though..
To be honest I think my favourite moment for Sasha’s character is the way she tenderly touches Connie’s arm here. Very subtle but very beautiful and sweet.
Something I don’t see discussed overly often about Haikyuu is how good the dialogue is. It’s genuinely poetic without feeling too flowery or unnatural for the characters to say. It’s wonderfully written. The further it gets, the more iconic and beautiful lines there are.
I can’t speak for anyone but myself, but I found this season of Attack on Titan to be an absolute joy. I think it’s a great adaptation of masterful material. It’s been something to look forward to every week and I’ve deeply appreciated it.
I’ve thought about it before but I don’t think I’ve really properly conceptualized the sheer amount of pressure that storytellers feel. Yet they push through anyway. It’s mad. Health and family are what really matter. I’ll never complain about another hiatus again.
I’ve always loved Armin but that finale made me *LOVE* Armin. Insane how much of a star he was in it.
Marina Inoue’s performance throughout the adaptation but ESPECIALLY in the finale has to be one of the most emotional I’ve ever experienced.
The fact that some FMA:B fan created 200 fake accounts to give the final Attack on Titan season a mass amount of 1/10s and drop it below the number one spot is equal parts hilarious, predictable and tragic.
I fucking love Berserk and I love the tact, passion, love and respect with which all involved are approaching this. Kouji Mori has such an immense responsibility here, you really can’t help but be awestruck at this amount of courage. Unbelievable. There is no series like this.
Just read Nami’s backstory in Arlong Park and I was blown away by how emotional and gutting it was, and how it brings so many disparate plot and character elements together with impact, emotion and cohesion. Definitely the peak of One Piece so far along with Zoro vs Mihawk.
Yeah this is the highest high of the series so far, genuinely every page was incredible and represents hundreds and hundreds of chapters of careful thematic and character-centric buildup. This is just the peakest of fiction, this is why I love stories.
Attack on Titan was my first ever anime, & I’ll never forget how gripping & thrilling this episode was to me. I liked the show before it, but moving outside the walls - the vulnerability, Erwin’s tactics.. It opened my eyes to how visceral & pulsating the medium could really be.
It’s too bad I kinda took Togashi’s insane use of the medium for granted the first time I read it, but Chimera Ant (and HxH in general of course) in the manga has some of the most absolutely unreal spreads and presentation.
Oh my goodness Togashi returning makes me so unbelievably happy BUT the BEST thing about this is that his health situation has improved and he feels well enough to continue🥲
I hope that isn’t too idealistic of an assumption but I think it makes sense!
