If you didn’t eat any protein, you’d die in 2-3 months
If you didn’t eat any fat, you’d probably die even faster
But if you didn’t eat any carbs, you’d be completely freaking fine for the rest of your life
Not saying people shouldn’t eat carbs, but it’s interesting to consider
Even if you’re super strong, you’ll probably still be stiff, unathletic and more likely to get injured if all you do is strength training.
Especially if you’re over 40.
Calisthenics doesn’t make you stronger the same as lifting weights.
Calisthenics improves your strength to weight ratio, which makes you better at anything that involves moving your body.
Lifting only makes you better at moving external objects.

A lot of people have asked me about building a backyard calisthenics gym like the one I use in my videos.
One thing I forgot to mention is that setting up two bars at a right angle to one another helps stabilize them against each other.
The rest is pretty straightforward:
People: You’re pretty ripped for a 43 year old dad. What’s your diet like?
Me: Cup of coffee in the morning, sometimes an apple in the afternoon, then a big dinner - mostly red meat
People: Idiot! You need to eat more often! And all that meat will give you a heart attack!
Me:
Say “Hey hey hey!” to my daughter, Adeline Jay Kavadlo. She was born on August 26, weighing in at 8 lbs, 2 oz. She already has more hair than I do! Thankfully she looks more like her mom. 😍😍😍
No other animal in the world varies their diet as much as humans.
In fact, most animals eat the same thing all the time.
No other species has an obesity epidemic either.
Coincidence?
I don’t buy designer clothes.
I don’t drive a fancy car or wear flashy jewelry.
But I’m willing to pay $$$ for high quality food.
The things I put IN my body are much more important than the things I put ON my body.
Food is a top priority. I wish more people saw it that way.

#OMAD
Protocol
OMAD = One Meal A Day
-Wake up between 6-7am
-Morning coffee about 30-60 mins later
-Workout on empty stomach
-Occasional afternoon snack (fruit or nuts)
-No counting calories or macronutrients
-Lots of water
-One big meal around 5pm
Me: This is what a natural 40+ dad who does calisthenics & avoids sugar looks like
Half the comments: This guy is full of crap - he’s obviously on steroids!
The other half of the comments: This guy looks emaciated! Not nearly enough muscle!
Yes, my arms are barely 15 inches pumped - but next to my 29 inch waist I have what was considered to be ideal bodybuilding ratios before steroid use age got out of control

Hey hey hey! Today is my 44th birthday.
Life continues to unfold in unexpected ways.
What am I referring to?
Well, I don’t want to get too much into my personal drama but…
I haven’t had a soda since the 90s
I cut out fast food and breakfast cereals in the early 2000s
In the 2010s I got wise to all the other processed, sugary garbage I was eating and cut that out, too
Lately I’ve cut back on anything I don’t buy fresh and prepare myself
Bodybuilding bros who dismiss calisthenics because it's "just for showing off" are hypocrites. Isn't bodybuilding all about showing off? Is there any practical reason to have 20 inch biceps? 🤔

I will be 44 years old in 2 weeks and I can still do a one arm chin-up.
My friend and legendary bodyweight practitioner Jack Arnow maintained his OAC until he was 70.
So I’ve got no excuses for a while…
This is the leanest I’ve been in over a decade. I can even see definition in my chicken legs. 🤗
What do you think my bodyfat percentage is in these pics? 🤔

After a quick warm-up, this was my workout today:
1 - Slow Negative Bodyweight Leg Curl
2 - One Legged Hip Thrust
3 - One Legged Box Squat
4 - One Legged Pistol Squat

My top 3 workout tips for men over 40:
1 - Exercise every day
If exercise is a part of your daily routine, you’re much more likely to stick with it and see results.
Lamb meat has a notable nutrient profile that includes a range of essential vitamins, minerals and macronutrients.
It’s rich in B vitamins, including B12, B6, niacin and riboflavin.
It’s also one of the few natural food sources of vitamin D.
Plus it’s delicious! 😋
The more you argue, the less likely you are to convince anyone.
So promote what you love instead of bashing what you hate.
You'll be happier, and more likely to influence others.
I don’t need a doctor or politician to tell me whether or not to eat meat
Oddly, many folks that say meat is bad for our health advocate eating vegetarian quasi-foods that are designed to look and taste like meat
And yet nobody ever tried to make a steak look or taste like tofu
If you’re over 40, you should probably forget about “bulking up”
In the overwhelmingly majority of instances, you’ll look more jacked by losing fat
Unless you already have a six-pack, leave the bulking to teenagers
Throughout my career, 3 of the most common excuses I’ve heard are:
“I don’t have a gym!”
“I have a kid!”
“I’m over 40!”
I’ve spent my career showing people how to work around that first one.
Now that I’m a 40+ dad, I’d like to help inspire folks to work around the other two.
I had my blood work done yesterday. Results are below.
My LDL and total cholesterol are high according to mainstream doctors, but
@SBakerMD
says as long as triglycerides are below 100 and HDL above 40, you're not at major risk for cardiovascular disease.
What do you think?
I had the butcher cut the handle off this Tomahawk Ribeye so I could fit it in my cast iron skillet
Definitely one of the top 5 best meals I’ve ever cooked 😋
My general rule at the supermarket is to buy foods with one ingredient (steak, eggs, apples, etc.)
If I do buy prepared food, it must have ingredients I would use if I were making it at home
I don’t know about you, but I don’t keep guar gum, red 40 or carrageenan in my pantry
When I’m interacting with the real world, life is good and people are generally kind.
When I’m on Twitter, the world is going to hell in a hand basket and everyone is an asshole.
I prefer real life.

If you're serious about building upper-body strength, you owe it to yourself to work up to 20 strict, full-range-of-motion pull-ups. Here's the plan to get you there:
One Meal A Day is the easiest way for me to restrict calories and stay lean.
If you’ve ever waited all day to eat on Thanksgiving, then you can do intermittent fasting.
