We are currently in our renal block.
I had a dream last night that I was stuck inside the nephron and couldn't get out because I didn't know all its parts and functions. 😅
I emailed my school telling them I was diagnosed with bronchitis yesterday, have been unable to sleep/breath, and asked if I could get an extension for my exam today.
I was told being sick & feeling like I won't do well due to my illness is not grounds for an excused absence 🙃
Went to see my PCP for a routine visit today.
Her: I'm going to quiz you. What should be on your differential?
Is this what clinical years are like? You're just pimped out of the blue? 😅
@giai05
@QueenMD202X
eloquently mentioned how medical schools are denying their students of their patient care rights and I can't get past that. How are we expected to be healers? If we are not allowed to heal?
This is for M4s and M4s only 👀
It’s rude of y’all to be celebrating with your families instead of updating your internet friends where you’ve matched

I'm sorry what?! I'm infuriated for you! Really makes me wonder what it takes to get an exam extension if emergency surgery doesn't count
I was accepted into a summer program to learn about addiction medicine! With a partial scholarship, I still need to pay $1500. I've reached out to the program for more funding, but it's not available. Med student friends, any leads on scholarships to help cover these fees?
One of the most informative accounts I have followed on

I had a chance to share my research findings and discuss the importance of mental health in South Asian communities on

I posted about International Women's Day on Instagram. The post highlighted that on average women in healthcare earn 24% less than their male counterparts.
Someone replied saying that can't be true. It must be because they do a worse job or it's for different positions.
1 yr ago I kept asking myself; what if I don't get into medical school?
1 yr later I finished my 1st semester of medical school. I can't help but be proud of how much I've learned, grown, and challenged myself.
Break here I come 💃🏽
Here's a pic from my last pt encounter :)
I'm excited and honored to announce that I have been awarded the Outstanding Promotion of DEI Award by

Meeting Dr. Anderson at
#APAAM2023
was an honor. His personal story of overcoming mental health struggles and finding a supportive community on social media while staying authentic was incredibly inspiring. It reminded me of the power of vulnerability and genuine connection.
My friend surprised me by door dashing some ice cream.
The man who delivered it didn't drop it off and leave. He waited till I opened the door and said, I have to check on you because you're sad. 🥹
I'm deeply grateful for this opportunity.
@AOCPMR
has been instrumental in shaping me, and I'm committed to carrying forward its legacy. It's truly an honor to serve on
@aocpmr
as Vice President. Excited for the year ahead 🥳
🎉 Exciting news! Introducing Akinchita Kumar as our Vice President of the AOCPMR Student Council for the 2024-2025 term! 🌟 Let's extend our heartfelt congratulations to her and eagerly anticipate the remarkable contributions she'll make in the year ahead! 🚀
Just had an eye-opening weekend shadowing a neurologist! 🧠 The diverse range of patients and conditions they treat left me truly amazed and inspired. Fascinated by the intricate complexities of the brain and the profound impact it has on our lives.
I'm honored to be one of the Co-chairs of AOCPMR's Research Committee and appreciate the opportunity to contribute.
@aocpmr
has been such a fundamental part of my medical school experience!

🌟 meet Akinchita Kumar! Akinchita is on our Research Committee and attends Lincoln Memorial University-Debusk COM. We are so lucky to have Akinchita as a part of AOCPMR, thank you for all you do!

Wee woo our semester is finally over. 🎉 I always heard 2nd year would be hard, but NOTHING could've prepared me for the semester we just had.
The sheer amount of loneliness/isolation I felt was unreal. Going through massive amounts of information in such a short time is no joke
@dfallik
I wish this was the case I even outlined in my email I went to urgent care yesterday and the treatments I received, but admin didn't feel this was severe enough for me to take my exam later in the week 🙃 It has to be taken tomorrow at 8 am
Excited to continue being on
@aocpmr
this year.
I will be serving as one of the research committee Co-Chair alongside
@BethanyMPauly
. We have big shoes to fill
@StudentDrTeej
@netrivelas
did an amazing job. Can't wait to work alongside an amazing group & see what we accomplish
Jesse McCartney is coming to our school for a concert. I asked one of my friends if she wants to come with me.
She told me she's too young to remember him lmao now I can't stop thinking about how much older I must be than my classmates 😅
@BroyleTim
There are plenty of medical students who are in debt, but these students have been working hard for the last 4 years. In the mean time, we also see our friends/family move on with their lives & have luxuries we won't have for a long time to come.
Excited to share that

are there any child physiatrists that would be willing to speak to our PMR club on campus?
Any leads would be appreciated! ☺️
If I had a $1.00 for every time I heard "this is high yield for boards" I would honestly have my student loans paid off by now.
Why is EVERYTHING we learn HY? What happened to the LY stuff?
I was a huge fan of
@hasanminhaj
. I'm really disappointed to see his degrading comments about DO's on
@jimmyfallon
. Particularly while we are still in a pandemic. There is enough misinformation out there. I wish he would've thought about the implications before speaking.
We were honored to host
@JamieKeyDO
from
@universityofky
at our PMR club meeting! Dr. Key highlighted the importance of DEI in both medical education and PMR.
She also shared exciting initiatives underway at UK and gave valuable tips on how to prep ourselves for residency apps!
This is the lived reality of women in healthcare. We take the same classes, take the same board exams, and complete the same hours of residency only to earn less than our male counterparts.
I'm more upset that this person assumed women are doing a worse job like really?
My favorite part of match day is seeing everyone’s smiling faces but also their support system; their friends, their parents, husbands/wives, children, boyfriends/girlfriends.
It’s takes a village of support & how proud they all are is so apparent 🥺❤️

I’ve already established some toxic traits in the first month & a half of medical. Any advice on how to break them

1) How does everyone balance working out & studying? I feel like there’s always something to do & can’t step away.
@BeeSting14618
We are still allowed to test from home due to COVID and I tested negative that wouldn't work haha Basically gotta suck it up and crush the test even if it crushes me
We received feedback from our standardized patient encounters today. My patient told me "it's so apparent to me how caring you are. You're going to make a great doctor one day."
I could've started bawling right there 🥺
My family is always just as stressed as I am before & after exams.
The amount of times I call them filled with anxiety, ugly crying, and panicked that I know nothing is honestly insane.
We need a Bama rush, but residency edition!
Seeing everyone's thoughts about programs, their interviews, and OOTDs would be quite an educational experience.
I feel bad at how much time I spend mindlessly scrolling on tiktok, but I've gone my whole life not knowing I had cholinergic urticaria until I saw a video.
You mean to tell me it's not normal to develop rashes after temperature change? Not everyone is itchy after working out?
@DrPFili
I think my tweet maybe misleading my PCP is great! She’s one of the best doctors I’ve had.
She thought I had just finished a blocked & wanted to help me frame my thinking I just wasn’t expecting it which made me think of clinical yrs
My mom’s over here excited about my cousin's new baby.
Me: All I have to offer you is a scientific baby. It's the same thing, right?

Hey,

my pre-med mentee has received acceptances to DMU-COM & CCOM. He's unsure which one to attend. Does anyone have any insight into pros/cons of each university? Feel free to DM!
I emailed a professor asking a question about the material she taught.
She replied with you should direct your questions to the professor who taught it. MAM, that's you haha
It's ok we're all going thru it right now 😅😅
