🚨 Breaking: Dana Rivers Update from the women inside CCWF
Recently convicted of a brutal triple murder, the state of CA wasted no time housing this violent male criminal with women. To put it plainly, the man who stabbed a lesbian in the face until she was unrecognizable & then
Today I attended opening statements for the Dana Rivers trial. One thing that is surprising is that the defense is NOT using the insanity defense, at least not so far. They genuinely want to show there isn't enough evidence. How are they doing that? 1/

, 11-7-22 (week 2 day 1): Criminologist Helena Wong, who did the DNA testing of the case, continues her testimony. Prosecution asks Wong if she can tell Rivers is trans based on DNA. Wong says yes because DNA reveals "biological gender," 1/

ruled legally sane. Insanity defense fails.
Rivers forfeits right to speedy trial for sentencing in order to motion for retrial (this is typical). Sent to public defender’s office. Will reconvene Jan 31st. 1/
BREAKING:
#DanaRivers
motion for new trial rejected. Afterwards, Rivers was sentenced to multiple terms of “25 years to life” in prison, including one without the possibility of parole. Rivers will spend life in prison, in other words.
I’ll offer more details later today. 1/
Here is Alcott's "man's soul" quote in context, taken from Elizabeth Stuart Phelps' "Our Famous Women" (1884), available for free on google books. It reads like a straightforward admission of homosexuality.
Women got a way with saying a lot in the Victorian Era 😆

Many of us are lesbians.
Many of us are Democrats.
Parents shouldn’t be kept in the dark when their kids wish to publicly declare an opposite sex identity.
which is male in Rivers' case. This is the first time during the trial that Rivers' trans status is disclosed. Wong & the prosecution go on to talk about the results of DNA tests taken of blood stains from the scene of the crime, as well as from items at the crime scene. 2/
A few more things from the prosecution: Rivers has a tattoo with a similar grip/laser as one of the guns. That gun also was found with a silencer. Also, Reed was found with 40 stab wounds, indicating that the attack was clearly personal. 10/
The People vs.
#DanaRivers
, 11-8-22 (week 2 day 2): first witness is Dr. Tom Rogers, who did the autopsies on Reed and Diambu in the coroner’s office. He goes through the various injuries found on Reed, with graphic images of them. He says there were blunt force injuries, stab 1/
hmmm maybe this is a problem when you wait for so long to have a trial? People's memories fade? There was seriously so much hairsplitting about the recollection of certain details blah blah. 7/
@hollowearthterf
This relates to my pet peeves w/ pop evo psych takes about "women evolved to be nurturers; men evolved to be hunters." It ignores that women pass their traits down to their sons and men pass their traits down to their daughters.
Nothing trans-related is brought up at all. Rivers is referred to as a woman in an "all-female" motorcycle club. The prosecution paints Rivers as the "enforcer" of this group. The defense tries making this motorcycle group out to be a bunch of harmless middle-aged women. 5/
The People vs.
#DanaRivers
, 11-1-22: today began with finishing the testimony of the second cop who arrived at the scene of the crime, Sydney Kofford. The prosecution went through all the clothes and items she gathered from Rivers. 1/
so it sounds like they are trying to insinuate that some other random person was involved in the killing. Three witnesses were called: the neighbor who made the police call, and the first two police who came to the scene of the crime. Defense keeps trying to nitpick to find 3/
They showed graphic footage of Rivers' arrest and of the police body cams. Also discussion/display of the various items found, including two guns. The defense is trying to poke holes into the narrative that the guns belonged to Rivers or could have been used by Rivers. 8/
They point out that Dana Rivers' DNA is not found on the firearms. They claim that the fact that Rivers used gloves isn't sufficient, because Rivers' had a cut and was bleeding all over the house. They also said that DNA from an unknown person was found in the house 2/
There is a lot of back and forth between the lawyers and the cop witnesses about 2 noises that were heard from the victims' home. The defense wants to show that there was noise *after* Rivers was arrested, but that conflicts with the initial police report. 6/
inconsistencies. Both defense and prosecution mention how Reed met Rivers at a veterans' thing, and the latter invited the former to a women's motorcycle club. Reed left the club and Rivers was upset, turning this friendship tumultuous. 4/
@WomenAreReals
"I personally know (and I’m working to get her story out) an incarcerated woman who lost her parole for similar reasons."
This is just awful!
I am a lesbian who is sick of the "LGBTQ+" movement. But I absolutely will not roll back the clock on same-sex marriage (and gay acceptance more broadly) and will fight tooth and nail against attempts from the right to take advantage of the moment to do so.

insanity trial 1-3-23-> Finally some action! Before closing remarks, the prosecution motioned for "directed verdict," saying there isn't enough evidence presented to declare Rivers insane. I think this is a way to wrap up the trial quickly. 1/

, 11-9-22 (week 2 day 3): This day started slow, but got exciting later, so please read through the whole thread 🧐. Day starts with defense doing cross-x of ballistics expert Lau. Mostly just technical questions, nothing significant imho. 1/
The People vs.

, 11-14-22 (week 3 day 1): Brief summary — there was one last defense witness before we moved onto jury instructions and then closing statements. Jury will begin deliberating at 9:30 am tomorrow. Some media came today, which was nice. 1/
It's quite likely that Alcott was a lesbian — I'm basing this, in part, on a remark she said in an interview towards the end of her life, where she said she loved "pretty girls, but not once a man." Why not explore that possibility, rather than trying to erase her sex?
The word “transgender” did not exist during the life of ‘Little Women’ author Louisa May Alcott. But
@peytonology
asks whether it might be the best word to capture the experience of an author who wrote about having a “boy’s spirit” and a “man’s soul.”
@JerryHendrixII
This whole new social media genre of "let's insult our troops to make some point about younger generations are becoming too soft/woke" needs to die.
@SoniaGallegoAJE
There is something so fundamentally menacing about Alexandra Billings's tone and demeanor. You can tell it's not a fair fight between Billings and Nessa, power dynamics wise.

, 11-9-22 (week 2 day 4): This was the most dramatic day so far imo, in terms of lawyers going at each other with objections, as well as the witness testimony. It's also apparently the last day of evidence, which is why we got out early. 1/
People vs.
#DanaRivers
sentencing 12-5-22-> short day, only about 20 min. Rivers was wearing a red country jail shirt. Rivers formally requested to waive trial by jury. This means the judge, not jury, will decide whether or not Rivers was insane. 1/
sticks to her initial verdict of arson. Defense tries to ask more questions about her qualifications, but judge shuts the questioning down, saying it should have happened earlier. The witness is dismissed and the day is done. 8/
The People vs.
#DanaRivers
, 11-2-22: Day begins with Officer Hunt continuing his testimony. Prosecution goes through *many* items with him, including the items retrieved at the crime scene, as well as photos of crime scene. Of note are his description of Rivers' tattoos: 1/
One swab has Diambu's DNA. Most of the rest had Rivers' DNA, Reed's DNA, or a mix. However, the slide of the pistol had 2 DNA donors, neither of which were the victims or Rivers. One of the unknown donors was male and the other's sex was undetermined. 3/
No, no, no, no, no, no!
Porn does *not* help children with authentic "sexual expressions," but warps them, by whittling away at their natural sense of boundaries and stunting the development of empathy for others.
The wickedness of this industry knows no bounds!
A new article in Porn Studies argues against restricting minors' access to pornography because such "censorship" violates a child's "sexual expressions."
Instead, the author urges us to abandon our "anxiety around youth sexuality" and focus more on delivering "comprehensive
The only other witness today was Maria Sabatini, the arson investigator for the Oakland Fire Department. She came to the conclusion that the fire In the garage was arson, not an accident, for four reasons: 1st, the fire was started from two separate locations. 2nd, the burn 6/
@KaeleyT
I'll add a third: some women who want children don't end up having any, and some women who don't want children end up with them. It doesn't mean these women's lives are doomed to unhappiness; we don't always get what we want in life, and humans are resilient.
damage pattern indicates use of a flammable liquid (like gasoline). 3rd, a gas can was located. 4th, no cause of an accidental fire could be identified. Defense cross-X shows photos to try to identify other potential fire sources, but Sabatini rules them out and 7/
other items that were tested include a knife (with both Reed's and Rivers' DNA), screwdriver (ditto), biker helmet (with Rivers's DNA), and various clothes Rivers' was wearing (mix of Reed's and Rivers' DNA). 5/
It’s frustrating that this case has gone on so long and that it technically still isn’t done. But it is what it is. Like I said, delays after the verdict are common in cases like this. The lawyers are doing their jobs.
My heart goes out to the families of the victims. 8/

hearings started at 2 today, but they began with the audience and prosecuting attorney being asked to leave so that the defense lawyer has privacy while talking about some personal info with the judge. Hopefully we’ll be let back in soon.
@Scott_Wiener
IT'S. NOT. RIGHT. WING.
Please, if you are going to criticize the other side, the very least you can do is not misrepresent where they stand.
Wright's DNA was not found anywhere. Reed's DNA was found on the revolver, while Rivers' was not (there is back and forth with the prosecution, defense, and witness about the fact that Rivers was wearing gloves). 4/
@HJoyceGender
What's wrong with this article? I don't have access to it, but I'm assuming it's referencing recent archaeological and anthropological research that indicates women played more of a role in hunting than previously assumed.
This story is just too good. A "queer" (😄) Muslim activist named "Raquel Evita Saraswati" claimed to be of Arab/Latina/South Asian descent but is in fact 100% European. Her birth name is "Rachel Elizabeth Seidel." How do ppl fall for this stuff?? 1/
Lots of people talk about how gender ideology resembles religion ("gendered souls"). But TRAs couch their beliefs in neuroscience as much as they do spirituality. Imo there is an atheist bias on the part of GCs, who want to blame religion instead of scientific materialism.

insanity trial 12-19-22-> short day. Rivers present, but judge was on video due to Covid positive status. They began by discussing what papers to submit. Defense wanted to submit hundreds of va/alemeda county behavioral health record, 1/
wounds, and 2 gunshot wounds. The gunshot wounds had “stippling,” or marks from gunpowder that are present when the gun is fired close to the victim. Also, they both had hemorrhaging, meaning Reed was still alive when shot both times. 2/
Reed had over 40 stab/incise wounds. Some of them had hemorrhaging, and others didn’t, meaning that the assailant stabbed Reed while she was still alive and continued to stab her after she died. 3/
@TTExulansic
I agree with one of the comments: "This headline (and the article for that matter) reads like it came from a high school paper. Imagine an adult so emotionally fragile she can’t hold her food down when she hears views that are contrary to her own."
This thread is controversial. My thoughts: It's not the business of society to eliminate ideologies, but rather to ensure that ideologies aren't imposed on others. Ppl can believe they are a "woman trapped in a man's body," but they shouldn't force others to believe the same.
“What happens to trans people when there is no more gender ideology?”
They continue to live their lives! Except now, they accept the reality of sex + fantasy of the soul-like “gender”, and largely give up ingesting synthetic hormones and surgically removing healthy parts.
@wesyang
I think it's easier to induce the drastic effects of T than undo them. But I've also read that it's easier for women to fake being men than vice versa, even w/o cross sex hormones.
However, if you spend more time around "ftm" trans the easier it becomes to recognize them.
In terms of what swayed the judge’s opinion today, he was impressed by dr. Watt, as she had been the most through in her exam of Rivers. He pointed out the lack of evidence of a ptsd triggering flashback at the murder. 6/
ex: Rivers thought that the use of the terms "defendant" and "victims" prejudiced the jury. The Judge pointed out that these are completely appropriate terms.
I mean, seriously??
4/
A public defender would have to make the case that Rivers’ current lawyer offered “Ineffective Assistance of Counsel.” It likely won’t be until late spring that there is a verdict on the motion to retrial. It’s really a Hail Mary. 4/
He thinks the reason rivers was sent to John George for mental evaluation briefly after being sent to Santa Rita jail is due to miscommunication, not that rivers was actually insane. 7/
Today's proceedings began with the Judge discussing Rivers' request for a new trial. There were 26 complaints that Rivers made involving a misdirected jury, prosecutorial misconduct, and "insufficient evidence." The Judge went over them and dismissed them all as petty. 2/

sentencing 12-6-22-> short day again. They agreed on the schedule of witnesses and what papers to submit (kinda). The witnesses are doctors/social workers that will discuss Rivers’ mental state. The first will testify next Monday the 12th at 9:30. 1/
"Under the proposed updated guidelines, the use of puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and transition-related surgery would be restricted to research contexts and no longer provided in clinical settings."
From the right-wing xtn bastion of...Norway.
Richard, in his statement, highlights the heinousness of the crime and how disgusting it is that Rivers has done everything possible to drag out this case. Rivers, in Richard's words, prioritizes "entitlement and narcissism over basic human decency." 12/
Example: Rivers complained that he made a request to get a haircut, and the judge denied the request. In fact, the judge tried to obtain a haircut for Rivers, but was unable to do so in a safe way. Also, wtf, why does that matter?? 3/
Some stab wounds were consistent with a single edged blade, others with a double edged blade, and others indeterminable. There were 28 stab/incise wounds to head/neck area, 12 on torso, one on right arm, and some on both hands. 4/
That's it for closing statements. Verdict will be announced Thursday Jan 5th at 11 am.
My understanding is that If Rivers is declare not guilty by insanity, doctors will have discretion to decide if he can be freed at some point. 19/
@TheAdvocateMag
I remember when you actually stood on the side of gay ppl, not straight men who think males have a right to violate women's boundaries.
Attention then turns to the 38 caliber revolver. She confirms this gun is the source of the bullets that killed Reed. The bullet fragment found in Wright was too damaged to compare. That’s a wrap for today. Defense will cross-x this witness tomorrow. 16/
One of the hand wounds is consistent with Reed employing self defense, tho of course Dr. Rogers cannot be sure. (This is relevant as it may be the source of Rivers’ hand injury and torn glove.) 5/
This pistol has many “add ons.” Suspiciously, rivers has a tattoo of the same model of gun with many of the same distinctive features and add-ons, including new trigger, grip with finger grooves, 2 notches, distinctive frame, and laser. 14/
I often hear people express surprise at atheist skeptic societies' capture by gender ID stuff. Surely the atheist skeptics, of all people, with their love of science, must understand biological reality and oppose gender dogma...right?
But I'm not surprised. It was clear to me 1/
It was clear that everyone in the room was profoundly affected by Richard's words, and the judge personally praises the statement, and tells the prosecutor to make sure Richard hears his praise.
This was one of the most powerful moments of the entire trial IMO. 15/
Judge says that, while he believes in "hate the crime, love the criminal," this was the most heinous crime he's had to adjudicate in his 33-year career. He goes on to issue multiple "25 years to life" sentences, including one without parole (due to "special circumstances"). 16/
@MollyCritical
See, that's what always bothered me about this argument. Youth suicides in the US have actually *increased* over the period of time medicalization of trans identities in youth exploded.
Next witness is police officer Jerry Sanchez, who set up the perimeter around the crime scene. He says there were no other people, no suspects other than Rivers, at the scene. He also saw a burn mark on Rivers’ calf along with a tattoo. 8/
performed forensic analyses on these bullets/holes. It was a short testimony and it's not entirely clear why this matters until the defense's closing statement. The judge then gives jury instructions, during which he calls Rivers "he" a few times (oops!🫢). 3/
@KateBMwriting
I went to “Lesbians who tech” several years ago and it was already being queer-o-fied then. You don’t have to identify as lesbian to go, btw….i knew straight women who went .
Dr. Rogers’ verdict is that Reed died via gunshot and incise/stab wounds. Attention then turns to his a autopsy on Diambu’s body, which had gunshot wounds and blunt force injuries. All but one blunt force injury lacked scabbing, meaning they occurred no more than three days 7/
