Player I was recruiting was non responsive, he told me he was waiting for D1/D2 offers, so I moved on. Recently contacted me asking if he had a spot after 3 months. I honestly feel bad for him. But this happens all the time, at all levels. KIDS, GO WHERE YOU ARE WANTED! 🏀

Helping a D1 caliber player with recruitment My NAIA coaching buddy reached out to him. Player was always punctual with communication. Player ended up D1 NAIA coach ended up at a higher D1 A year later, player transferred up to where that coach is now Stop ignoring coaches!

D3 “offer” debate: It’s absolutely an offer, simply because there’s a small % of players who go from HS to college athletics. If you get a job “offer” and let’s say it’s part time, or less/no benefits, or no/limited maternity leave, low vacation time, etc Is it still a job? 🤷🏾‍♂️

My stance on D3 calling their opportunities “offers” There are half a MILLION kids that play high school basketball… Roughly about 8% of those players will go on to play college basketball across all levels.. Only 3% will have the opportunity to play at the D3 level! OFFER!

A juco coach went out on a limb to show interest to a player I referred to him.. The player has no offers. FIRST thing he mentions to the juco coach is “Are you giving me a scholarship?” And “Can you get me to a D1?” Ruined his chances with that coach just like that smh..

I know plenty of 20 point scorers in high school that are not as good as 10 point scorers… Stats should always be understood within context. Competition, team success, role, teammates, schedule, translatable skill set, etc mean more to next level..

I remember a few years ago getting a kid 3 offers to low/mid majors and a high D2. But because he took too long those programs moved on. His handler told him to hold out for “bigger” offers. It was a same year offer AND late. Listening to the wrong people is DETRIMENTAL.

When I was coaching D3 I recruited a lot of kids over the years.. I love to see kids that I recruited went juco and played themselves into a NAIA/D2/D1 scholarship! I love to see that some went to other D3’s and killed it! I love to see kids succeed regardless! 🙏🏾✨🏀

I don’t know if everyone knows this so I’ll state it for the record.. An “offer” at D1, D2, NAIA, USCAA, juco, etc. doesn’t automatically mean it’s a full or that everything is paid for. Those divisions also package offers with academics scholarships and grants just like D3!

🏀 Natural development: 1. Playing in runs where you’re not one of the top 10 players! 2. Guard the best matchup you can when playing! 3. “Paint the floor” during runs - imagine you covered the bottom of your shoes with paint. At the end, floor should be “covered.” MOTOR!

I sent a D2 coach a D1 player, and he said “he’s not good enough, need better!” Don’t think just because you’re at a higher level it’s sweet somewhere else! Also, don’t think because you had a little success you can move up a level with ease! THERE ARE PLAYERS AT EVERY LEVEL!
