🧵- Mental health. Gonna get personal so bear with me. Just watched the latest SDP and I’m gonna be honest, it hit me like a brick. I wasn’t initially going to open up about this, but I started taking antidepressants last week. After I graduated, I had a few weeks off and
If you’re drunk and need to get home, CALL A FUCKING UBER. Two kids are growing up without a dad, parents have lost two sons, & a sister now has to grieve the loss of her two brothers on her wedding day all because somebody decided to get behind the wheel drunk in 2024. Senseless
Lock these people up for life. Up the punishment. Do whatever you can to scare the people who can’t comprehend how wrong this is into never doing it again. There aren’t many ways to die that are more preventable than drunk drivers. Enough with the slaps on the wrist
Somebody just asked Keith Pelley “Sheldon lost his job with one round win in five years, what’s the justification in keeping Brendan after one round win in ten?”
My god
Whenever the Leafs move on from Sheldon Keefe, whether that’s tomorrow or 5 years from now, I need them to hire Torts for at least one season just so we can have a year’s worth of him versus the Toronto media. Need it like I need air
I’m as big a Michael Bunting fan as anyone and what he’s doing in his first full NHL season is awesome, but this year the calder belongs to Moritz Seider and it isn’t particularly close
In 2018, The Toronto Blue Jays traded Josh Donaldson for some guy named Julian Merryweather. Fans lost their shit.
Today, Donaldson exited the Twins game with hamstring tightness and Merryweather struck out the heart of the Yanks order (Hicks, Stanton, Torres) to tally the save
Max Domi setting up Auston Matthews for goals 67 and 68 and then dropping the gloves to stick up for him. One wall to run through isn’t gonna be enough
Very cool Lyubushkin is already hurt 2 periods into his tenure as a Leaf because the NHL’s favourite new goon charged and left his feet and didn’t even get a penalty 👍
Jonathan Huberdeau had 115 points this year and finished fourth in MVP voting. On top of that, they’re getting a top four defenseman in Mackenzie Weegar, a B prospect in Cole Schwindt, AND a first round pick.
Matt Tkachuk is a hell of a player, but that’s an egregious overpay.
It’s actually amazing how much the 2024 Blue Jays have killed my desire to watch baseball. In the past I’ve tuned into games even when they’re playing like shit. Now I’d rather spend my time doing literally anything else. Sucks when your team is bad but also has no direction
Samsonov just told Shawn McKenzie that he almost cried hearing fans chant his name. How the fuck am I not supposed to be all in on this guy’s comeback?
If I’m the Leafs I’m offering Matthew Knies 8x4.5 this summer and praying he gets it done. He’s already such a key contributor in so many ways and he’s only 21. Letter potential on his jersey
Tampa Bay: Hagel, Paul
Florida: Giroux, Chiarot
Boston: Lindholm
Toronto: Giordano, Blackwell, Lyubushkin
You can have your skepticism on what the Leafs should have added but saying they didn’t upgrade the same way their competition did is flat out wrong
Max Domi just gets it dude. Guy shouts out half the roster before giving the belt to Edmundson. Rewriting the definition of the word passion. Get him an extension please
Good morning. The Toronto Maple Leafs are a really good hockey team that lost to another really good hockey team in a hard fought 7 game series, and comparing it to the losses against Montreal, Columbus, and Boston is a lazy and poor narrative. Have a great day
I’m glad how well established across the league it’s becoming that Nick Cousins is a dirty prick. Both this response and the one from Gudbranson were personal. No respect for guys who play like this
If the Leafs made no more moves this offseason this could be their opening night lineup.
Bertuzzi - Matthews - Marner
Knies - Tavares - Nylander
Domi - Kampf - Jarnkrok
Lafferty - Holmberg - Reaves
Rielly - Brodie
McCabe - Klingberg
Giordano - Liljegren
Tidy work, Brad
The amount of ppl who refuse to let Leafs fans have a shred of happiness over watching the greatest player in their team’s history break a franchise record is hilarious lol. Team’s given you nothing to cheer for in years but sorry you’re not allowed to be happy over that either
If your argument to discredit Matthews scoring 50 in his last 50 is “yeah but he ONLY scored 50 in his last 50 games! It’s not like he scored 50 in his first 50!!“, that should tell you a lot about how good Auston Matthews is
I feel like this isn’t being talked about enough. Auston Matthews, despite a “down year” for his standards, is tied w/Nick Bonino for the lead in shot blocks by forwards (71) and has 63 hits (had 67 all last year)
If he wants to save his offense for the playoffs, fine by me 🤷♂️
Also, Erik Källgren deserves a massive amount of credit for the way he came in and stabilized the crease when it was in shambles. Got the job done when Mrazek was struggling and got it done when Mrazek got hurt. Don’t know where the Leafs would be rn if not for him
Jared McCann is scoring Seattle’s first goal against the Leafs next season. And just because the hockey gods truly hate us, it’s going to be from a Justin Holl giveaway. Remember this tweet.
Former Leafs currently playing for the Arizona Coyotes
- Nick Ritchie
- Phil Kessel
- Anton Stralman
- Alex Galchenyuk
- Travis Boyd
- Riley Nash
Get your bets in. Easy money to be made tonight
Talked to a buddy about this. Why not sign Spezza on trade deadline day? Give him that last stretch of games to get 5 points and let him be on the roster for one last shot at a playoff run. Justin Williams did it.
Ryan O’Reilly scored the goal to force OT in Game 3 and finished the series with 7 points in 6 games. Noel Acciari had 8 hits in Game 6 after coming into the game leading all players in that category. Luke Schenn let Morgan Rielly comfortably play his game and also (1/?)
I’ll say it now. The Leafs are lucky to have Sheldon Keefe and firing him for any future shortcomings would be a massive mistake. He’s won at just about every other level and has the right mindset. After years of Wilsons and Carlyles, the Leafs finally have a good coach in Keefe.

Sheldon Keefe improves to 94-41-15 as a head coach, tying Terry Crisp for the 4th-most wins through a head coach's first 150 career games in
#NHL
history:
Tom Johnson - 109
Mike Keenan - 98
Todd McLellan - 96
Terry Crisp - 94
Sheldon Keefe - 94
Benoit: “If the fans love me, touch my heart, it’s not every day the fans love just a simple stay at home D-man, but if they love that, I’ll keep doing it and banging bodies”
Get that extension done Brad
Episode 18 with Simon Benoit is live! Watched him put in the work as a rookie in San Diego and now he’s winning fans over in my home city of Toronto. Links below!

If Ryan Reaves was signed to a three year contract to do one specific thing his head coach should put him in the position to do that specific thing and start him next time Marchand’s on the ice. Otherwise what are we doing here?
I was really happy about this trade with the Coyotes but Mike from Orangeville on Facebook just informed me that Lyubushkin and Dzingel are minor leaguers and that the Leafs aren’t going anywhere until they fire Dubas. Sorry to break the news this way folks
Matthew Knies with 15 goals and 35 points while leading all Leaf forwards in hits with 159 in 76 games is a really nice rookie season. He’ll elevate in the postseason too. Going to be such a nice secondary piece going forward
Connor Dewar for a 2026 fourth rounder and a prospect who had no future with the Leafs remains some incredibly tidy work by Treliving at the deadline buzzer. He’s only 24 too. Love him as a bottom six forward for the next few years
The Calder is likely gonna go to Moritz Seider (as it should) but let’s not forget how Kyle Dubas picked this 25 year old Scarborough boy buried in Arizona’s system out of thin air and he turned into a 63 point top line winger. And he still has one year left under a mil
I’d be fine if Nick Cousins never stepped on the ice again. Textbook coward play, act like you’ve been shot then wait till the scrum is already developed and jump on a guy with his back turned. Such a loser
Ilya Samsonov woke up right when Andrei Vasilevskiy did in this series. He has the “it” factor that no other goalie did. Stole that game for them and deserves so much credit for his role in this
When Muzzin gets back, the Leafs should go
Rielly - Lyubushkin
Muzzin - Brodie
Giordano - Liljegren
If you asked me a week ago, I would have said Gio-Brodie. But Gio has done so much to elevate Lilly’s game and Brodie makes everyone he plays with better
EF on 32 thoughts just said the Leafs’ organization loves Jake McCabe both on and off the ice and wouldn’t be shocked to see them offer him an extension. “Lots of the “us against the world” attitude when they were down 3-1 came from him”
Very on board with that
Jack Campbell was the 11th overall pick in 2010. 12 years, two teams, multiple AHL stints and injury issues later, he’s having a Vezina-caliber season and just made his first all star game. Talk about a late bloomer
After that Tkachuk trade, the Panthers are $3m over the cap and their defensive corps is
Ekblad - Montour
Forsling - Gudas
Carlsson - Staal
They’re also down Giroux, Huberdeau, and Marchment up front & don’t have a first for the next 3 year. Yikes.
Neal Pionk is such a loser. Same little whiny twat who took a run at Marner for scoring an empty net goal last year and now he may have ended Sandin’s season. Just nonstop grease from this guy and it’s a joke he’s still in the game
The Toronto Maple Leafs really came into two straight games against the league worst San Jose Sharks, who were riding a 10 game losing streak, and beat them 4-1 and 7-1. Folks these boys might be different
My favourite genre of people on here are the ones who think Kurtis in Alberta is a 40 year old virgin living in his parents basement. In reality, dude has checked off every single box a man strives for in life in addition to having a sick gear collection. People are so bitter
Lose 4-2 at home to Arizona. Get swept on the California trip against mostly lottery teams. Outwork & defeat the 10-1-0 Boston Bruins on Saturday, then fly to NC to do the exact same thing against the 8-2-1 Hurricanes less than 24 hours later. The Toronto Maple Leafs experience.
Hot take (maybe?)
Mitch Marner has gone 98 games without a power play goal yet he’s NEVER seen a demotion to PP2. Willy and JT have dropped down before he has. Why not give him a change of scenery for once and try to light a fire under his ass?
Auston Matthews skates off the ice after the 1st getting showered with boos. Comes out in the second, pots two and tries to get the crowd hyped. Absolute gamer
Kyle Dubas’ trade deadline acquisitions by season:
2018-19: Jake Muzzin
2019-20: Nic Petan
2020-21: Nick Foligno, David Rittich, Ben Hutton
2021-22: Mark Giordano, Colin Blackwell
2022-23: Ryan O’Reilly, Noel Acciari, Jake McCabe, Sam Lafferty, Erik Gustafsson, Luke Schenn
Calle Jarnkrok deserves an appreciation tweet. Everyone had him penciled in as the cap casualty when in reality he’s probably on one of the best value contracts in the league. $2.1m for a guy who can score 20 goals and bring reliable defense. He isn’t appreciated enough
Lets be clear. Objectively looking at Spezza’s hit on Pionk, he should be suspended. If someone on the Jets did it to him we’d be saying the same thing. But if the refs call Pionk’s knee, that doesn’t happen. It’s a chain reaction and the NHL is going to drop the ball once again
I’m sorry but I honestly can’t get over the fact that Sheldon Keefe got fined for saying “yeah it sucked to see our player get stitched up” yet Paul Maurice pretty much accused one of the officials of having a vendetta out for him with no repercussions. Genuinely hilarious
Even after playing hockey for the Toronto Maple Leafs full time, my captain still has the energy to shovel the driveway. Time to go make him some breakfast
Auston Matthews: “Reaves has been an unreal addition. Drags the momentum back to our side”
Sheldon Keefe: “I thought he had a really good game defensively”
Bill Guerin: “We traded for him almost exclusively because of how he brings a team together”
Some people™️: “no”
