Great to see 88 bipartisan recommendations. Time for action on a new National Plan. Targeted investment in #dfv reduction will create a return to the economy, with #dfv estimated to cost $25bn per annum.

Great article @bairdjulia . Please know that many of us working in the sector & community ARE angry, and we are doing things that make a difference. It’s not just a matter of funding doled out for ‘service delivery’. If we’re talking funding, Govts need to accept they might not

Almost 100% of women we support throughout shelter network have experienced some form of economic abuse - from wages taken by abusive partners, debt placed in their name fraudulently, to interfering with their earning capacity. It leaves a long shadow #dfv

Brilliantly written on how important social housing is to so many women needing to leave abusive relationships. #dfv #homelessness Social housing rescued me when I fled domestic violence in 1970s Australia. That safety net has long gone | Anonymous |

Working with children to recover from #DFV was one of the earliest tenets of the Women’s Refuge Movement. Children were recognised as needing their own tailored services & recovery decades ago. We can’t allow this deep practice knowledge to be obscured ever again.

If governments are genuinely wondering what to do next - and what will have impact - they should focus on and fund the upscaling of this work with children. It’s long overdue. Recovery is prevention. We owe these kids the support they need to thrive & meet their full potential.

It’s at that moment I usually have a bit of a cry & take stock of the work we, & each local community, have done to get to this point. I’m so excited for that moment x at least 2 this year! #dfv #homlessness #2021

It’s always important to remember that victim/survivors with lived expertise, advocating for legal reform and change, are real people with skin in the game. They’re not non-player characters in your academic utopian fantasy.

Help us to fund a new shelter for a whole year this EOFY! All donations over $2 are tax-deductible. We’d love your support to give 40 women and over 100 kids new lives free from abuse. #EOFY #DFV #Homelessness

An important clarification from @jessradio on this piece by @JacquelineMaley . This is why I say, that once coercive control laws start to take effect, we will likely see a whole different cohort of abuser emerge into the visibility of the criminal system. Our current, incident

We’ve had so many discussions about DV and yet men in positions of power don’t understand that violence agnst women is not associated with mental illness, and perpetrators are frequently charming to everyone but their partner. John Collier is a disgrace

I’m mystified by the ongoing belief that technology must be a good solution in situations where we are dealing with power, nuance and complex human behaviour. As with all technology, those intent on abuse will find a way to misuse it. #dfv #consent
