HS Pitchers: Your playing time in college is dictated by how well you do the small stuff to help the team win.
Good luck to all High School baseball players as you start your Spring seasons tomorrow. You’ve made the necessary adjustments this off-season, but now it’s time to go out and COMPETE on the field.
And please, for the love of god,
CONTINUE TO LIFT IN-SEASON
High School Freshmen & Sophomore pitchers:
Throwing 30 innings on the Freshman/JV team is more beneficial for your personal development than throwing 10 innings on Varsity.
Everyone is born w/ different gifts. Everyone has their own beliefs/motivation/work ethic based on the environment they were raised in. Everyone doesn’t commit to college as a freshman in high school. Everyone has their own process. Stop comparing yourself to everyone else.

We’re excited for the new crop of high school guys to start their off-season program in preparation for next season. Off-season training is important, but it’s only a piece of the puzzle towards your development.

Telling players that they need to get in the weight room never means we want them to become too big/stiff/immobile. 95+% of the time the weight room is the gamechanger, especially w/ velo gains. Confused why some believe that by touching a weight they will become bodybuilders.
Our live bullpens are set for February! Can’t wait to see our guys compete this Winter. Details to come for hitters w/ interest in participating. Thank you
@RawlingsSports
Training Center for allowing us to grow this part of our program. Look forward to seeing the new facility!
Once a player fully embraces the fact that they’re in control of their own development and career more than their coaches it’s likely to elevate their performance. Be coachable, don’t get addicted to being coached.
High school athletes who participate in an outside strength & conditioning program should receive class credit instead of having to take weight training class in school. Too many athletes are doing double and/or not receiving the customization necessary for their specific needs.

Thoughts and prayers to Brian’s family and friends. His legacy and the impact he left behind will last forever. A true trailblazer in St. Louis for baseball development.
When creating efficient movement patterns in pitchers, expect a gain in velocity & a temporary loss of command while the athlete learns how to organize the unfamiliar movements. Temporary loss of command is an unfortunate, however, completely normal byproduct of development

Training indoors in a controlled environment in the off-season has its benefits. However, it doesn’t entirely prepare players 2 perform on an actual field where there r uncontrollables. As a player, understanding how to mesh AND separate the 2 will dictate your on field performance
It’s easier to be a guy that throws hard in a cage as opposed to a guy that continuously shows up in big situations as a result of pitch ability, attention to detail and fierce competitiveness. Everything matters. Don’t do what’s easy

1st week of “Intensity Building.” A radar gun helps athletes to regulate intensity & create feel for using the pelvis & legs at lower intensities. We use the cue “Turn the legs on and the arm off” to help this. Self regulating requires focus & keeps athletes engaged at all times

Many of our HS pitchers had success this Regular Season & look to carry that through to the Post-Season this week. Good luck boys!

A player that all young pitchers should strive to emulate. RIP Mr. Gibson
“I want to be remembered as a person, a competitor, that gave 100% every time I went out on the field. Sometimes I wasn’t too good, but nobody could accuse me of cheating them out of what they paid to see”
A few of our guys during the “no intensity catch” portion of their plan. The focus on movement quality at 50% will lead to better movement quality at 100%. Data, command, velocity & pitch design typically improve due to this often overlooked staple of a throwers routine
#notfancy
Contrary to popular belief being told to just “move faster” won’t automatically translate into efficient movement patterns. Often times it can cause an athlete to create unnecessary movements which can hinder both command & velo. Work on moving efficiently before moving faster!
