Walmart has become a general store that sells everything from kayaks to strawberries. I am delighted they sell books and music. Especially in towns that have limited libraries.

@cast_random I think this is a bit of an over simplification. He spent 2 legs of a tour in ‘toxic man’ character. Then went on a podcast in that same character. That last decision made it seem like maybe it wasn’t all an act because Matty had never taken stage persona offline like that.

I am much older than Emily…and I am very much enjoying doing multiple shows. It isn’t easy to balance fangirl/work/personal stuff but there really is no age limit to this. I will also add no one irl has ever mentioned my age or made me feel uncomfortable. Really no one cares.

@lici_gd I think the challenges the 75 face is most of the venues can’t accommodate these elements. They are a much smaller band in the EU and the regulations are far more difficult to manage so the band is juggling the desire to put on a really good show with real economist limits.

@emilyxinfinity Taylor calling out the insane takes/actions some fans had is great. Fandoms have dark sides that are rarely addressed. I think the reasons why Matty is called a bigot/Nazi/etc while actually being fairly left leaning will have to for him to address in his songs and interviews.

This is the strangest take I have heard in a while. The ‘average fan’ is likely in their 20s. Which would make sense for a band that released its first music ~10 years ago. But as they have grown so has their music. NOTES is not a teen sound track.

@shesaidhello_ Ross just did an interview where he talked about how bass elements are constructed. His philosophy is that as bassist should always support the song and he generally plays the bass line or riff that everyone agrees is ‘best’. Sometimes that is his idea and sometimes it is not.

@lici_gd I took the tour behind the stage in the UK. It was an active discussion if they were going to bring elements that could only be used for some shows. It isn’t just the truck space it is also staff. In the UK there were an average of 200 folks doing set up. They started at 7 am.

@frailstatee @emilyxinfinity To be clear - lining up more than 24 before the show is a long standing 75 thing. People camped for a week before an msg back in the day. It was shorter camps last year but as the fan base has grown it has been longer. But this is not new and the band obviously is fine with it.

@kelseyiscrying I feel like this could happen in the UK and maybe one or two other markets (finsbury is I think 50,000 ). But I cannot see them making the jump in the us. They just don’t have that fan base outside of NYC and maybe LA. The last LA show was very slow to sell out.

@cast_random He regrets this decision now and has accepted that whatever he was trying to do fell very flat. But initially he was very defensive about it all which made it worse. I have a lot of sympathy for Matty and I admire him greatly but he did objectively make a pretty big mistake .

@HoneyAlarabia While 1975 only mentions being 17 I do not think age references make it a ‘teen song’. GYAT is not an age specific song - and yes it mentions 16 but also 25, 27 and 29. And a protest song about school shootings is arguably very applicable to folks who have children.
