I remember in 2019, the best coach i’ve played under to-date, put on a session based around how City occupied & aimed for the cut-back zones. The best session i’ve ever had; made me go home and study it for ages. BIG fan of how Spurs use Full-backs underlaping to access these.

I know it’s re-surfacing, but I love it. The ‘box’ method is something I’ve touched on before, and how sides without the ball react to the trigger of a Full-back receiving next to the touch-line, to form it. Closest forward/midfielder/full-back use the touch-line to box them in.

The first contact Branthwaite makes with Haaland is from his lower body, so none of this ‘got bodied’ shite. Any upper body contact here and he’ll lose balance, given his height/frame/build, because he doesn’t have a foot planted behind for stability.
