I'm often asked why I stay so positive with my tweets. Well, partially it's because the rest of Twitter has the negative well covered. But mostly it's because I believe in people. In improvement. In connection. Positive is better. I hope you and your family have a great 2021!

If your own income is not threatened right now, please go on-line and buy gift certificates from the local businesses you frequent. You can use the certificates later (or gift them) and it will help the businesses to survive this horrible cash-flow crunch.

Uncertain times but be certain of this: Our economy will recover and thrive again. Why am I so sure? Because it's built on people. Innovative people. Hardworking people. Resilient people. Passionate people. Caring people. It's built on all of us. That's why I'm so sure.

Noticed a downturn in many friends'/colleagues' moods the last two weeks. The early darkness. The hunkering-down feeling. The even-more-negative news cycle. Let's keep an eye out for each other. A phone call. A handwritten note. A quick text. A shared laugh. Caring and connected.

I love Canada. Critics will point to its flaws. And I agree that it's not perfect. It's a work in progress. Just like all of us. But our weaknesses won't pull us apart. The opposite: Constantly trying to improve will pull us all closer. Canada's greatest asset? Canadians.

My father is in the hospital right now with a hip injury. No break but he has been complaining that it's quite painful. I suggested he chew on some ice chips and drink a flat Canada Dry. He laughed. Have a good weekend. Help a stranger. Check in on someone. Eat a butter tart.

Over the last few months, because of Covid, I've heard from a lot of people I didn't know before. Incredibly nice people. Caring people. The world is full of them. Important to remind yourself of that sometimes.
