Completely out of nowhere Matt McMullen of Realbotix (
@Realbotixxx
) presented their latest prototype, android under the name what sounds to be Aria, to "Las Vegas Review Journal". The article contains a short two minute video.
Clip (1) from the video:
A company whose androids I recall seeing online before, but can't recall the name of (直立行走(上海)机器人) launched bilibili and douyin pages called "Robot Rena" (机器人Rena).

It seems that Coolrobot (上海清宝引擎机器人) seems to have a new android they displayed in Shanghai. Nothing much is available but the text and a couple of press photographs.

Multiple bilibili acc. just published short videos with a number of ChunShuiTang 春水堂 androids.
Not the 1st first vids. abt those (see quote tw.), but the 1st vids. by the devs, featuring more androids.

Doll makeup artist known as yunoshiさん recently visited the headquarters of Chinese life size doll manufacturer ChunShuiTang 春水堂 (their dolls overseas sell under the brand BBDoll). The video features a couple of robots they have at their headquarters.
Realbotix shared a promotional interview with Matt McMullen also featuring Aria.
Here are some snippets from the interview (there are no more examples of gestures shown in the interview, though there are more Aria speaking segments).

Stumbled upon a report (in Chinese) of an experimental theater performance called "The City of Giants" that utilizes an android robot (the head that previously could've been seen on different Chinese internet websites) .

One thing that I've been rather skeptical about the project is the decision to go with the projected face instead of the mechanical animation, but in reality they do look rather nice especially with the curved shape. It's of course challenging to film or photograph.
Rena videos seem to be the part of the publicity for the developers who rebranded or otherwise opened the new venture called in English "Shanghai Droid" but in Chinese "卓益得机器人". They since opened bilibili and douyin showcasing "Rena 1.0".

Closeup of the current generation of Disney animatronics. It is for sure a better approach than projection, even if designing and maintaining the mechatronics with the endless hours of running that Disney figures got must be a difficult task.
Got to speak with some of the imagineers from Disney at first robotics championship. Man it was both enlightening and humbling. I got a long way to go

NHK report (with video) on using an android for research in conversational AI. The android who seems to be named ショウコ (Shoko) looks to be related to Toshiba's Chihira sisters. Quite a surprising reappearance.

Static displays of Actroids as well as one Toshiba Partner Robot and Wakamaru at Expo 2005 museum. Nothing much changed since the last visit, hence it's a short video.
While I'm always keen on events featuring android robots, the "United Nations AI summit" seems rather questionable in featuring, in between decent projects, pretty much con artist projects in which AI is nothing but a way to swindle investors.

Last week we brought Aria (at least her head) to Toronto to meet with some of our investors.
It was her first time in Toronto. She enjoyed the restaurants and weather.
At lunch, she answered questions from the audience , demonstrated our AI and showed off some facial

Two android appearances from "Zhongguancun (ZGC) Forum" (中关村论坛) a Chinese government "Silicone Valley" project in Beijing.
Both androids seem to be by EX Robotics.

The name of the previously shown android is Xiao Qi「小柒」and for this installation there's reportedly an AI speech model to answer questions about the venue.

Let's begin a new thread with footage by "Qingyun Robot" aka "清芸机器人" aka "上海清芸机器人" previously known as "Coolrobot" or "上海清宝引擎机器人"
Thread from March 2023:
The last visit to Japan was the first time I visited NHK Skip City museum, back then there was an AI exhibition which featured HRP-4C (static). The crew asked not to publish photographs and videos, but the exhibition had closed so here are a couple of photos (instead of a film).
The name of the developer seems to be either "智元机器人" or "智元生态伙伴". Their focus seems to be on humanoid robotics rather than on android robotics.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure has operated FLAWLESSLY since it officially opened this morning at Magic Kingdom Park.
I just went on it for the 20th time, thanks to
@Michael_is_raid
for letting me join him (I didn’t get a boarding group this morning).

Another recent animatronic update of Disney shows how projection can actually work with animatronics instead of attempting to replace it (as was done with previous generation of their animatronics).
Longer video e.g.:
New video of the "thawing" scene in Anna and Elsa's Frozen Journey at Tokyo DisneySea's Fantasy Springs. This is a masterclass in using projections to enhance animatronics. Stunning. 🤯
One clever detail about Amira/Ameera is that the "personal space" detection works not on sensing capacitance or anything but just on "how big the face gets in the camera", a simple yet clever solution. There are also no touch sensors as no physical interaction is intended.

The sculpt is nice, but unfortunately there's only facial animation, hands are static, and overall the display is mostly static.
Expect videos later.
This video with Yulia, the robot by Promobot, was shared by none other than the "head" of Russia occupied part of Ukraine, "Donetsk People's Republic". Promobot is first and foremost the Russian regime's asset.
It's of note that the base is mobile.
The control method is not obvious, likely not autonomous, perhaps a pre-recorded movement with teleoperation of the wheel base.

Got some interesting candid shots of one of our robots, Aria, today.
The details are incredible. And, she can move around and be hooked up different AI platforms. Speaks numerous languages and has various accents.
Thinking of asking her to join our board of directors at
