This is the story of Freedom House.
Tamir Rice wouldโve been 18 today.
Tamir Rice shouldโve been 18 today.
Remember 18? How young 18 was? How hopeful 18 was? How on the cusp of everything 18 was?
How alive 18 was?
To understand how we got here, we have to understand where weโve been.
This week, weโre telling the story of the only successful coup in U.S. history. And yes... they were white supremacists. Listen here!

For many this presidential debate was an embarrassment. But be clear, there are people cheering right now, who feel affirmed. Those who relish in the bluster and bullying and lying and the refusal to denounce racists.
100 years ago a white mob destroyed one of the wealthiest Black communities in America, killing hundreds.
Itโs a tragedy thatโs been buried for a century, but still felt. I went looking for the truth.

This yr marks the 100th anniv. of the Red Summer of 1919, when hundreds of African Americans were lynched and murdered across the country. Thousands more would follow. Lynching was used to beat Black people as far back into slavery as possible. The president is not being lynched.

The idea of arming teachers is terrifying. Can you imagine how many guns would end up pulled on students? Or worse. Outbursts that should end up being suspensions or detentions could end up being death sentences. Especially in states where "fear" is all you need to shoot/kill.
