Cooper Flagg has been one of the biggest names among all NBA Draft prospects for years and for a good reason. I broke down the
@DukeMBB
freshman's game, upside, and the minimal improvement areas.
“When you lose the belief… it’s over. They don’t believe they can win anymore, which means this series is over.”
Draymond sounds off on Gobert and the T-Wolves 👀
I get so confused when league wide NBA content people say they’ve “watched a ton of the Timberwolves but can’t get over DLo crippling their upside”
Stuff like that really makes it seem like they haven’t watched a second. DLo has been crucial to what they’ve done all season.
Still basking in the absurdity of the Timberwolves' defense last night. It was truly incredible stuff.
Then I remembered that next year Jaylen Clark, whose STL% of 5.1 last year was the 11th best in college since '08 from true high major conferences, will be healthy.
My favorite thing about the anti-Chet argument is when people ask “well how will he handle Embiid, Jokic, and Gianis?”
Well the rest of the league hasn’t figured that out so maybe the 3 best players in the NBA shouldn’t be the bench mark? He’s the best rim protector in a while.
Anthony Edwards was a defensive playmaking machine last night. He doesn't need to be the most technically sound defender, but if he continues to play with this level of energy, off-ball awareness, and commitment to running in transition, it will be huge for the Timberwolves.
This is the best the Timberwolves ball movement has looked in a long time. I love how the ball constantly zips around the court, how determined they've been to get paint touches, and then that every player continues to relocate after giving up the ball.
Why I loved Dillingham with the Spurs is equally relevant with the Timberwolves. His defensive concerns can be insulated w/ their size and established defenders. Then you factor in him being one of the most electric bucket getters in the draft. Tough not to be thrilled.
Anthony Edwards goes down hard and provides the NBA with example 484,903,243 of why the slide under charge attempt needs to be eliminated. It's not a basketball play and is dangerous.
This is absurd. Ant’s growth as a passer and handling pressure this year has been astronomical. It’s been so cool to see him grow from an elite score to a legit offensive engine in a very short period of time.
One of the Timberwolves' biggest issues in the playoffs was a lack of bucket getters. They addressed it tonight.

The Timberwolves recently deployed a new defensive look with Jaden McDaniels at the point of attack against both Ja Morant and De'Aaron Fox. I broke down how he held both to 3-10 shooting and the advantages it gives the rest of the team going forward
A lot went into that Timberwolves comeback tonight but this was arguably my single favorite play of the night and a great counter to the Heat's strategy of blitzing the Anthony Edwards' pick-and-roll.
Jaden McDaniels finally qualified for Cleaning the Glass percentile rankings.

Just a ridiculous rotation that has to be perfect. Too late and it’s probably a foul plus a dunk. Too early and MPJ probably gets an open corner 3. Exquisite defense.
The Timberwolves have been using Horns w/ DLo/KAT/Ant to create confusion w/ screens at the elbow, but tonight they used Horns to run shooters off screens and confuse the DEF. Simple motion into a pick-and-roll creates an easy layup for Russell.
Just because D'Angelo Russell is a good off-ball shooter doesn't mean he should play as an off-ball guard. The 2 PG lineups for the Timberwolves have to stop. They've been disastrous.

DLo/JMac = -79

Just let Russell close it out.
Jarred Vanderbilt has harnessed his chaotic energy this season to be an incredibly efficient scorer and one of the league’s most impactful defenders. How Vanderbilt has grown from a throw in piece in a trade to making an All-NBA Defensive team impact:
Gordon, Braun, Holiday, and Jackson have combined for 8-11 from 3.
In the regular season they combined to average 3.4 made 3s per game and together shot 35% from 3.
Karl-Anthony Towns deserves an immense amount of credit for his defense on Nikola Jokic. He's done a fantastic job of walling up and making life really difficult for him. Jokic is the best player in the world and you'll never stop him, but the Timberwolves have made life about as
This was one of the Timberwolves most impressive performances all year and it came on one of Ant's worst shooting nights, which is incredibly encouraging.
The rim pressure, at-rim finishing, and rebounding were superb. Team DEF was phenomenal. Also Jaden McDaniels was really
Good morning. The Timberwolves currently:

Grown men need to stop getting in their feelings about shots at the end of the game when it’s a blowout. Get over yourself and stop throwing cheap shots. That was pathetic by Schroeder.
Pre ASB of this season was one of the most miserable stretches of Timberwolves basketball I can remember.
The transformation this team took post ASB w/ the coaching change, health, and player development was nothing short of incredible.
Jaden's second jump here is ridiculous. Dort should let this fly, but by just getting a hand near the shot, Jaden makes Dort (who was 0-6 from 3) hesitate and pass out of it.
Just a reminder that Anthony Edwards is 21. The leap his all around game has taken this year is absurd and it’s all on display in the second half. I know some of the inconsistency can be frustrating but he’s doing stuff that’s expected of 27 year old super stars.
Anthony Edwards was classified as an inefficient chucker to start his career. Despite an excellent second half he's struggled to shed this label in the national context. With a new coach/healthy roster Edwards is showing his superstar potential

Love this. The Timberwolves' bench really struggled to score once Reid went down. Awesome developmental + work ethic story, now gets paid, and has the flexibility to sign another big contract if things keep trending like they are for him right as he hits his prime.

Jaden McDaniels w/ 18 pts, 5 rbs, 3 asts, 4-9 3PT, 7-13 FG, and awesome DEF. The D is becoming a nightly thing but we're seeing him slowly expand his OFF game. He's more than just a stand still shooter. Good movement, passing, and attacking the rim.
Anthony Edwards couldn't have had a more inefficient start to his NBA and Timberwolves scoring career, but he did something we rarely see from rookies. He made significant in season adjustments that paid massive dividends to his at-rim scoring
#NBATwitter
Miro Little (headed to Baylor) was the biggest standout for me yesterday at Hoop Summit. Tough, physical defender. The jumper looked really solid, and he was always talking. Loudest person in the gym.
Jaden McDaniels was so good tonight, highlighted by that tip in. Incredible OREB. He had 3 of those tonight along with a couple corner 3s and midrange floaters. The offense is so different when he can give them at least 12-15 points.
Donovan Clingan is one of the best passing centers in the country and draft.
As a freshman he had an AST% of 7.4 and a TOV% of 15.9.
This season, those numbers nearly flipped to an AST% of 14.1 and a TOV% of 7.8.
He's a quick processor, accurate passer, and can find cutters
Jaden McDaniels not making an All-Defense team continues to age poorly. Oh, and he’s listed at 6’11 and ranked in the 96th percentile in block rate for forwards.
🐺Timberwolves vs Celtics thoughts🐺
This one is a bit longer but that game rocked so skip around as you wish. Video is in chronological order.
Anthony Edwards is a superstar. What he did on both ends of the court was astounding.
Jaden McDaniels was tremendous on DEF and
Anthony Edwards was brilliant on OFF last night. Not just because of the 48 pts on 59/54/75 and 5 asts but more due to his shot selection and ball movement. Constantly attacked, rarely forced from 3, moved off ball, and kicked out of drives to open shooters.
Sources: The NBA is fining Nuggets star Jamal Murray for substantial amount after throwing heat pad and towel on court toward official Monday night. No suspension.
Easily Anthony Edwards best game of his career. 23 pts on 9-15 FG and 4-7 3PT along w/ 5 rebs, 4 asts, 1 stl, and 1 block.
He was intentional about getting to the rim. First step is so fast. He's already one of the strongest guys in the league. Gotta love the shot chart too
That was one of the more impressive halves we’ve seen from Anthony Edwards. The scoring package is absurd per usual but he’s doing so many little things like getting OREBs, making the extra pass, and he’s done a fantastic job of reading the weak side when the Suns double him.
Kevin McCullar's passing is such an important and complimentary skill to a rotation. He typically just makes the proper read to counter the defense but shows off some flair as well. Passes out of the PNR, in transition, and swings it on the perimeter with ease.
On the surface, the Timberwolves were built to absorb an injury like this (not trying to detract at all from how much this sucks). The starters w/ Naz instead of KAT have a net rating of +20.4 this season and the team as a whole is +5.7 when KAT is off the floor compared to +9
Johnny Davis is a much better passer than he gets credit for. No, he's not a PG or primary creator, but he doesn't need to be. He won't manipulate a DEF, but he knows where his guys are, uses his scoring gravity to create for others, has good vision, and can pass w/ either hand.
🐺Timberwolves vs Thunder thoughts🐺
Gobert continues to play the best defense of his career (yes I know how good he was in Utah). He was everywhere tonight on defense and was really important on offense. 6 OREBs and 6-7 on free throws was massive.
Troy Brown Jr. was sublime.

The Timberwolves made the biggest move of the night by moving up for Rob Dillingham. I broke down how Dillingham thrived as a shooter, playmaker, and how it can fit into a Timberwolves specific context.

I know the Timberwolves have been bad but it continues to shock me how little people know of them. Reasoning is KAT has had “3 pretty rough years”.
Yea injuries, losing your mom and 6 other family members, and losing 50 lbs from getting COVID will do that. Pure nonsense.

Liam McNeeley has the chance to be one of the best off-ball creators in the 2025 NBA Draft. I broke down McNeeley's game and why he's a perfect fit with
@UConnMBB
The Timberwolves are finally looking like a team. The ball is moving, they’re cohesive on defense, and when one guy has a rough night someone else is there to step up. Weird what time can do.
The importance of Jaden McDaniels cannot be understated. The work he’s done at the point of attack against Ja and Fox in back to back nights was incredibly impressive.
D'Angelo Russell put on a show with his passing last night with his 8th 10 assist game. Despite his reputation, Russell is vital to this team and their ball-movement.
-AST% = 32.5 (75th %ile) (up from 32.4 last year 95th %ile)
-AST:USG ratio = 1.13 best of career (1.03 last year)
Watching Jaden McDaniels and Isaiah Stewart play defense this season really makes you question what the hell was going on in UW last season and confirm that playing exclusively zone defense is bad.
Johnny Davis was a dominant force this season. Few, if any, had the same level of responsibility and production. Stop making his evaluation overly complicated. He's the best two-way guard in the class

Since his first game for Gonzaga I've said that Chet Holmgren is the best rim protector I've ever scouted and stuff like this is why. His ability to stay vertical to initially disrupt the shot and then locate the ball, reposition his hands, and block it is really special stuff.
I prefer using Cam Whitmore as a

-3 scoring option rather than a 1. It minimizes his lack of playmaking, allows him to attack closeouts and rotations, and gives him the opportunity to cut. Putting him in an off-ball role with a good initiator is the perfect fit early on for him
More encouraged by this Timberwolves loss than a few of their wins. Defense was solid, outside shooting slightly better, Ant was so good attacking the rim, won the REB battle, limited TOs.
Just not gonna win when the other team makes 60% of their 3s.
Jordan Hawkins is the best off-ball mover and movement shooter in this class. Great sense of speeds, willing screener, tremendous shot prep, and relentless motor.

Few thoughts on the Timberwolves game last night.
Tough loss and they didn't look like they did in preseason. Main issue is that they couldn't buy a shot, but there are reasons for that.
They missed some good looks but the shot selection also was pretty rough. A lot of hero
This is one of the most complete Anthony Edwards games I can remember. The 3 level scoring is bonkers but he's showing great court vision w/ his playmaking late, super active on the boards, and playing really tough defense. Just all-around superstar stuff.
Jaden McDaniels had 4 steals and 3 blocks last night and it didn't feel lucky or fluky or surprising. Hopefully more people actually take notice than they did last year because his combination of instincts, footwork, length, and verticality already make him a top tier defender.
I was really impressed with Nikola Topic's first game back from injury.
🏀Playmaking still popped
🏀Shot well
🏀Showed versatility playing on and off ball
🏀Team DEF was much better
🏀Got downhill easier than his first few games with Red Star but was blocked a few times at the
Just putting pieces together, it seems like the only people who were surprised by this firing are people with no connections to the Timberwolves. The full reporting on this will be fascinating.
I continue to be impressed w/ how much Anthony Edwards has improved at the rim. Another really mature scoring display from him against the Mavericks with how he changes speed and direction, finishes with his left, and leverages his strength. Unique blend of power and finesse.
A rare embarrassing loss for the Timberwolves this year. The brutal no call at the end sucks but it shouldn't have been that close to begin with.
Tallest player tonight for the Hornets was 6'9" and they started a 6'7" center. Can't remember a single lob to Gobert. Ant had at
Benedict Mathurin is one of the best off-ball movers and scorers in this draft. Runs hard off screens, excellent timing on cuts, and great shot prep (big dip on the shot but fixable). His 36.9 3PT% undersells how good of an off-ball scorer/shooter he is due to shot difficulty.
The absurdity that is Anthony Edwards.
-Burst to blow past Middleton

-Body control to hang and adjust from a monster dunk to reverse layup
-Finish through the foul
