25 years ago today Princess Diana walked through a minefield in Angola with HALO. Shortly after her visit, the Ottawa Mine Ban Treaty was signed. HALO Angola has cleared over 100,000 landmines & the minefield Diana visited is now a thriving street with schools and shops.

Hundreds of HALO staff have been providing shelter, food and medical care to victims of Afghanistan's earthquake. We have repurposed mine-clearing mech to clear rubble–there's a risk of disease from the many animal carcasses trapped under toppled buildings.
