The amount of SLS haters is really depressing. We have put so much of our lives into this vehicle so we can take humanity back to the Moon, and people try to tear us down every step of the way. It doesn’t matter; SLS is going, we are going. Per Aspera Ad Astra.
Our ship recovery team just completed their final training run and is ready for Artemis I splashdown and recovery! Can’t wait to see her back on shore in Naval Base San Diego!
This was probably the proudest moment of my life. This was right before we closed the LAS hatch, and right after I called out on the net that the Artemis I Orion crew module is closed out for flight.
Gotta say, the upper stage is looking pretty great from up here! Can’t wait till the team and I do our actual closeouts for flight and be the last ones up here before launch!
#WeAreGoing
As someone who helped install the LAS you can imagine my relief when I heard “Launch abort system pyros have fired separating those from Orion as well” on the livestream. Can’t believe we have footage of it!
I guess it’s time for me to do one of these. I have gotten a lot of new followers recently. I’m Taylor and I am the Artemis Closeout Crew Lead and an Orion CSM flight tech. I have an MS in Astronomy with hopes of pursuing a PhD in Planetary Science. I also do astrophotography.
This is so important. NASA generated $71.2B of total economic output in 2022 , maintains 339,600 jobs, all on the the federal budget of $23.3B. The technological and scientific advances that are made by NASA and utilized on Earth FAR exceed the initial investment.
The fallacy in the logic is always the assumption that the two are mutually exclusive.
Solving problems in space leads to tangible positive outcomes on earth. Plus we are an advanced enough civilization we should be capable of doing both
Here's another Earthrise video from
@NASA_Orion
, captured at 1305 UTC on 21 November 2022 with a solar array wing camera on the
@ESA
service module. Cropped to the Earth coming into view beyond the dark limb of the Moon.

You never know what you’ll find hidden away in the VAB. We found these ridiculous laptop holders from the early 2000’s and you’re crazy if you think I’m not going to use this out on the floor 😂
It’s been a crazy few days, getting almost 2 million views on TikTok with
@starwars
commenting on it.
Well, it didn’t stop there. They just invited Liv and I to

PREMIERE IN LA!!!!!
Artemis I is officially complete! The crew module has been de-serviced and is now clean of all hazardous commodities. 3 years of my life went into working on this vehicle, but now it’s time to focus on Artemis II.
✅ De-servicing of Artemis I Crew Module complete!
Teams in the Multi-Payload Processing Facility completed cleaning cycles & removal of avionics to be reused on
@NASA_Orion
for Artemis II. The capsule will be used as an environmental test article on future Artemis missions.
@LockandloadLiv
At the risk of putting my extensive Destiny career on the line, I need to come clean. In 2003 I used a GameShark on Pokémon Ruby to get a level 100 Rayquaza. I fully accept any ban or disciplinary action recommended by Bungie.
My Mom just sent me this. Prior to me getting my job she showed no interested in space exploration. Now, it has become her life as much as it is mine. Seeing people who had no interest in space exploration take that extra moment to look up and wonder is what this is all about.
Plane tickets, jeep reservation, and honeymoon house are all officially booked! Only 186 days until we will be in Hawaii for our dream wedding
@LockandloadLiv
!
Two years ago today we began booster SCAPE ops for launch! Being at the pad, at night, in a SCAPE suit, and getting to watch the sun rise over the ocean was still one of the coolest experiences I have had while on the job.
HUGE shoutout to
@cknasaboy
, Henry, and the rest of the CRONUS team for making this happen! They got
@LockandloadLiv
and I an image of Hawaii, on our wedding day, FROM THE INTERNATIONAL SPACE STATION!!! This will definitely be printed out and hung up for the rest of our lives!
Today was probably the best day of my career. Closeout Crew had a meeting with Travis Thompson, Space Shuttle Closeout Crew Lead. He took us to see his closeout shirt that flew on shuttle, shook my hand, and said “I’m handing down the reigns.”

Just had the opportunity to tour the Columbia Room in the VAB where they have the recovered debris from Columbia. To say it was a sobering experience would be an understatement. It really puts the work we do into perspective.
This is it. My favorite tweet ever. It’s amazing that people don’t understand DSN bandwidth and the fact that the cameras on Orion are engineering cameras.
Over the last week closeout crew participated in ISVV-1, a full end-to-end emergency egress demo where we practiced and validated our procedures in the event of an emergency on launch day. It was an incredible experience and amazing learning opportunity!
If I had the money to buy a ticket on New Shepard (and I would), todays launch would actually make me feel better. Space travel will always be dangerous. Anomalies will happen, but a perfect abort system can and will (and would have if this were a crewed flight), save everyone.
Everyone at work knows I want to be an astronaut, and I just got given this as a joke. You’re crazy if you think I’m not putting this on my work backpack 😂
Got to spend some time in one of the Ascent/Entry simulators as part of our Spacecraft Operator training! We learned how to operate the DDU’s, hand controllers, and how to navigate the different screens and controls.
Speaking of Callisto, I received an award from
@NASAGroundSys
for it. There was a minor paint defect that needed fixed. Our paint guy had to take emergency leave, and they asked me to fix it. I’m not a painter, but I think I didn’t a pretty good job!
Nominal day of launch demonstration test is complete! Not gonna lie, it gave me chills to make the call to the firing room saying “the flight crew has entered the white room.”
Today's launch day demonstration tests are complete, and all parties were successful! Congratulations to our
@NASAArtemis
II crew and teams at
@NASAKennedy
.

With the Artemis I Orion Crew Module closed out for flight, my final time spent inside the CM before it flies to the Moon is 124 hours. 100 more hours than I initially set my goal at.
With our wedding growing near, I want to thank
@LockandloadLiv
’s community from the bottom of my heart. You all accepted me from day one, and showed interest in my life and hobbies. Thank you for your support, love, acceptance.
