During my recent trip to Baton Rouge for orientation,
@louisianasenate
Secretary Yolanda Dixon presented me with a letter that I wrote in 2004 while attending
@LABoysState
. It’s pretty cool to have this letter now! I am excited to serve in the Senate beginning in January!
#lalege
No,
@KamalaHarris
, what’s unconscionable is blatantly lying about my bill. Leaving out the part about “not having a valid prescription” & our efforts to protect expectant mothers from being slipped abortion meds by diabolical spouses, that’s kind of a big omission. Do better.
Absolutely unconscionable. The Louisiana House just passed a bill that would criminalize the possession of medication abortion, with penalties of up to several years of jail time.
Let’s be clear: Donald Trump did this.
Exciting times in Baton Rouge! Congratulations to
@LAGovJeffLandry
and the other new statewide elected officials! I look forward to working with the Governor and his team to move Louisiana forward.
#lalege
I couldn’t be more excited for my friend
@RepMikeJohnson
, our country, our state, and our region! Mike is a man of God, a man of his word, and a strong voice for the conservative movement. I know he will serve us well as the next Speaker of the United States House! 🇺🇸
It was an incredible honor to take the oath of office to serve as the State Senator for District 38 this morning. I’m grateful for the awesome privilege of representing the people of our district in the Senate. Thank you to my family, friends, supporters, & constituents!
#lalege
Maggie and I are excited about the opportunity to run for State Senate District 38! We look forward to being on the campaign trail this fall and earning your vote.
#lalege
I questioned
@BCBSLA
execs & learned they are paying a firm to make calls to push pro-sale propaganda while taking votes from policyholders IN THE SAME PHONE CALL. This “election” has serious deficiencies. The sale is bad for Louisiana. Vote no.

I am grateful to the Louisiana Association of Business and Industry - LABI for naming me a “Most Valuable Policymaker” for 2020. I will always stand for more jobs and better opportunities for the people of Louisiana and very much appreciate this recognition.

Very excited for the new addition to my art collection! My grandmother painted the Louisiana Capitol with Louisiana magnolias, cypresses and irises for me! Can’t wait to hang it!
#lalege
On to the House! Grateful to my Senate colleagues for recognizing the importance of sovereignty in our decision making and passing this bill without opposition. State laws should be made by our state’s elected officials not international organizations.
🚨🇺🇸 Breaking Louisiana State, US
This is HUGE ‼️‼️‼️
The State of Louisiana just passed a bill by 37-0 to not allow a single rule, regulation, policy, tax or mandate to be enforced by the:-
The WHO
The UN
The WEF
This ruling applies to any agency working on their behalf.
I’m grateful to my Republican Senate colleagues for electing me to serve as the Vice Chair of the Delegation. I’m looking forward to serving in this role and working to make Louisiana an even better place to live and work!

Did you know that the Louisiana Bar Association is lobbying against tort reform? I’m a dues paying member to the bar and ADAMANTLY OPPOSE the organization lobbying for or against any bill. To oppose a bill that will make Louisiana competitive is unconscionable.
HB 639 allows previously incarcerated individuals to find out if they can obtain an occupational license prior to being burdened with student debt & time wasted for education in a field they may be unable to obtain a license to work.

My first bill successfully passed the House this afternoon. HB 313 clarifies the traditional principles of liability protection for business organizations. The bill will now go to the Senate.
It was great to be on air this morning with
@KSLA
to discuss the ongoing legislative special session! We discussed the bills which are making their way through the legislative process which will provide more transparency in sentencing and the constitutional carry bills.

Every 4 years, Louisiana gets the chance to reset. After 4 years with JBE, our state is losing jobs, ranks 49th in education, our roads need repairs and we have the 2nd highest poverty rate. To top it off taxes are higher! Vote for
@DocAbraham
for a reset & new vision!
Grateful for LABI endorsement in my race for senate district 38! Over the past 4 years, I have advocated for common sense solutions to cut red tape, invest in educational opportunities, fix our tax code, & reform government. I will continue to do so in the State Senate!

I’m excited to join my good friend

Thanks
@TruckinginLA

Truckers are essential to the Louisiana economy as they keep items on the shelves, gas at the pumps, & our economy moving! As a member of the Senate, I will fight for LA jobs and opportunities!

Did you know Elevance has a higher than usual rate of claims denials. The Georgia Inspector General found that their rate of claim denial was 33.7%, more than 2x as high as the rates of the other managed care organizations they reviewed. Vote no.

Gov. Edwards signed HB 826, which I authored, into law. The law provides legal protections for businesses and individuals that answered the call & created PPE during the COVID crisis. It also protects businesses and individuals from frivolous litigation related to COVID.

What a great honor for an incredible person and leader. Luke was an amazing and dedicated public servant. What a wonderful tribute to a sensational person.
I’m so deeply touched that my colleagues in the House, particularly
@SteveScalise
, put forward this special tribute to Luke. My husband dedicated his life to making the Fifth District a better place. Luke’s purpose was always driven by people and his passion was public service.
Late last week I pre-filed SB276, the Abortion by Fraud Criminalization Act. The press release below provides some additional context to my filing of that bill. Let’s protect women and the unborn,

40 under 40 class. The class is comprised of inspiring and encouraging leaders of

This is insane. I am tired of the sort of political rhetoric calling for “bagging and tagging" of anyone. It is a sick distraction from real leadership and needs to be called out for what it is—dangerous fan flaming.
I enjoyed the speaking on the Right to Earn a Living panel at this year’s

discuss what’s going on in Washington. It’s great to have the Speaker back home in

Absolutely superb team! I’m looking forward to getting to work with
@JeffLandry

A 6% tax rate on people earning over $50k is driving Louisianans to seek out opportunities elsewhere. This is not a partisan issue- e.g. WA has no personal income tax. The growth in the US is in states with lower rates & simpler tax codes than LA. It’s time to follow their lead.
@TAPressly

Congratulations to Tom Arceneaux on being elected to serve as the next Mayor of Shreveport. I look forward to working with the mayor, the city council, and our legislative delegation to move

Prefiled my first bill yesterday. It allows students who choose to attend school outside their neighborhood school to be able to play sports as freshmen. Students shouldn’t be asked to choose between sports & academics.
Incredibly proud of the speech my friend and LA Future Caucus Co-Chair

Governor vetoed HB 313. This bill passed the House 92-1 and the Senate 26-8.
While I am disappointed in the decision, I will continue to push for pro-growth reforms during my time in the legislature. I will always advocate for private sector investment & growth in LA.

A safe community is the foundation necessary for

Today we begin the 2024 second extraordinary session of the legislature. This session is focused on creating laws that address the rise in crime that our state has experienced. I look forward to working with my

3 years ago today we held our campaign kick off party. The world is very different today than 2019, but my desire to move Louisiana forward & resolve to bring policy changes to our state remains strong. Thank you District 6 for allowing me the opportunity to serve!
#lalege
I’m a solid no on this plan. It has numerous issues starting with the attempt to split up the 3rd and 6th largest cities in our state. Dividing up Shreveport and Bossier City is a nonstarter for me when it comes to any statewide redistricting map.
#lalege
The amount of litter on Louisiana’s roadways is bad for the environment and economic development. This challenge can only be solved by all Louisianans joining forces. I appreciate

Ralph Abraham clearly won the debate tonight. He loves Louisiana and wants to ensure that jobs and opportunities are available in our great state and has the right plan to accomplish that mission. Please geaux vote on Saturday! I recommend you vote Ralph Abraham for Governor!
This is devastating news. I am heart broken for Luke’s family, friends, and the people of Louisiana. Luke was an incredible person and leader. It was an honor to call him a friend.
Did you know $11m, approx. 25% of state public defender funding, goes to capital (death penalty) defense contracts. There were 20 cases last year, 2-3 went to trial.
Local public defenders who represent defendants for non-capital crimes get $34m to represent 160,000.

Very happy that HB 2 included funding for a new Jimmie Davis Bridge. The bill now goes to the Governor to be signed. This project is vitally important to Shreveport & Bossier. I am grateful to all of our elected officials for working together to include this project in HB 2.
I enjoyed the opportunity to speak with the Governor’s Fellows this morning. The group is comprised of Louisiana college students that are serving in various agencies this summer. They had some great questions and thoughts on the future of our state.
