Hello! I’m urgently raising funds for my next film, ‘My bodily remains, your bodily remains, and all the bodily remains that ever were, and ever will be’ which we are shooting in a couple of weeks and will be wild, and some funding fell through!
Worse thing about being a Jew living in the uk in the 21st century is experiencing cynical concern over antisemitism from tories and centrists to try and stop socialism - I implore you to stop, it is sickening really
Hi! I’m a Jewish

member and voter and if you want to hear from Jewish people, I am happy to answer, from my perspective, any questions you might have about antisemitism

The withdrawal is an act of foremost solidarity with Palestine and Palestinian people and ensuring that artists, academics and the public can continue to freely express their views as well as with Alistair Hudson and the workers and employees of The Whitworth.
Wild that the £1.57b arts bailout is being spent on keeping administrative and managerial staff in a job and artists are left to apply to arts council and compete for support that even if successful is very temporary and insufficient
We need to find the same rage, anguish that we feel for Sarah Everard for WOC, trans women, sex workers, that are subjected to sexualised atrocities and are so consistently denied the totally essential empathy and anger that this instance has collectively rightly provoked
I never write things like this and it feels scary but the art worker redundancies, destructions of art schools, being asked not to speak out about Palestine has compelled me to write a genuine plea to art institutions to side with us, and stop profiting from our politics
Thread on livelihood of artists. A year and a half ago I had a paid residency at
@WysingArtsCentr
It was literally the only time in my life that I was able to work solidly for 6 weeks in the studio. It was completely transformative and I developed so much in that time.
Tomorrow I will go on the march for a ceasefire and the liberation of Palestine, against this bloodthirsty fascism. In my pocket I will take my grandfather’s silver medical stamp that was made for him in the ghetto of Łódź ♥️ Never forget means never forget
I really want to change the way I work, research based projects are not for me anymore not sure who they are for really apart from being helpful towards a flattening or an absolute quantification of practice. Often it’s a very thin veneer of intellectualism that covers awful art
Doing lots of visiting lecturing this yr cos I'm broke, the admin that you're required to do is perverse and sometimes genuinely mind blowing. Having to "apply" for the job of being invited to come and do a talk. 3 separate forms and processes for your £150 from 4 months ago
How do arts academics deal/teach a growing body of students with reactionary/right wing politics? I think many of us speak from an assumption that we are aligned and it is very much not the case anymore. What do you think?
I’m also the daughter of a holocaust survivor and that is not what he said, he doesn’t want our Jewish history/identity to be put at the service of a genocide. He said ‘never again for nobody’ you are saying ‘never again’ only for us, which many of us deeply do not agree with
Jonathan Glazer. As I am a daughter of an Auschwitz survivor, who vowed to my mom to always tell her story and never allow such horrifying antisemitism hate to happen again. You ‘refuting your Judaism’ whilst accepting an award in memory of 6 million Jews cremated, shot, gassed
It took a very long time (I'm 44) for me to be taken seriously as an artist cos I
a: was a party girl
b: didn't to dress like Patti Smith
c: chubs but refused to b ugly/sexually quiet
Pretty privilege + tastefulness was and still is a big thing in the artworld and it's gross
As the
#TurnerPrize
opening draws near I want to make CLEAR that the “City of Women” in my work is a city for ALL women which includes trans women nb and also all bodies that also find cishet masculinity an abject nightmare - it is however not a city for T3RFs. Thanks!

This is all art world drama to a degree but the freedom to express solidarity with the Palestinian people/criticism of Israel is really important. Also it’s quite unnerving to see people plot your professional ruin. I can’t say much!
I never was (and don’t know if I’ll ever be again) as eager and excited to live as I was in the weeks leading up to the 2019 election believing that we could win. There was so much beauty in that mobilisation. I swear a piece of me died that night
Ppl think no one remembers how viciously mean everyone in the artworld was 2000-2010 before words like “care” or “empathy” became commodity - I mean proper mean girls 24/7
White feminism™️ is LITERALLY worthless. If your feminism isn’t based on race solidarity, class solidarity, trans solidarity, sex work solidarity, pan geographic solidarity, it is 100% mumsnet girlboss vacuous bullshit.
The “art world” can’t dismantle the systemic racism within it with representation alone, it must change the people in leadership as well as commit to taking the necessary steps for “artist” to be a financially sustainable career for it become an inclusive space.
I don’t have a good caption for this it’s all in the above. This is just a gesture and I know some will say it’s problematic but I want to do this nonetheless. As an artist I am part of a community so this makes some kind of sense to me.
This has been heavy to write, and im scared and braced, but I need to say these things, I cannot be disloyal to what I understand as my humanity. In the text when I refer to Israel’s moral compass it is to internal society. It has never had a moral compass towards Palestinians.
It seems like since artists were never really paid for the work they do, there is also seems to be no support for them now lol. This pandemic will entrench inequality in the artworld, with only those solvent (generational wealth) able to weather this economic reality.
I have been committed to BDS for many years, I am renewing my commitment in a public and formal way and think all artists, musicians, writers, film makers etc should too - it is something and also the least we can do
We reiterate our call for the boycott of apartheid Israel's cultural sector. It is overwhelmingly complicit in whitewashing and justifying Israel's genocidal assault on Palestinians in Gaza.
What an evil, evil, evil time. Not a day goes by where you don’t see something that is absolutely world shattering coming out of Gaza and the West Bank. One can’t help but wonder what kind of image or evidence could hold some kind of currency in relation to justice anymore.
Thank you
@chiggi
for giving us the opportunity to talk about the prize our request.
For those raging who feel that it’s in fact this year’s Turner Prize that heralds the end of civilisation and not for eg oh like 130,000 deaths due to austerity - have some words w yourself
The silence of the artworld about Palestine is deafening, and it is truly shameful. People might be afraid to hurt feelings, be called antisemitic (criticising Israel is not antisemitism, this is 100% propaganda bs) or jeopardise opportunities,
I’ve been haunted my whole life by this piece of Cosmo advice: “when you’re with your love interest don’t pick up stuff off the floor with your feet, it’s not sexy. What are you a monkey?”
I hear this line every time I pick something off the floor with my feet
2001 Cosmo magazine: stuff a CHILLI in his DICKHOLE for a BANGIN blowjob!!!! Do a handstand and let him SPANK your PUSSY with a LAMP
12 year old me: yeah of course
TERFS have contacted RCA to bring my pro-trans views to my employer’s attention (try and get me fired), contacted turner contemporary to tell them they should revoke my turner prize nomination cos being pro trans is “misogynistic and homophobic” THEY ARE UNHINGED
This is one of my favourite sculptures on the world, when I saw it in real life my eyes panicked it was so much to see and I knew it might be my only opportunity to look at her
I have experienced first hand censorship over Palestine, artists should do a counter boycott towards places that disallow Israel to be criticised as the murderous, apartheid state that it is, or even the word Palestine be mentioned. I am starting mine now
All those whingeing about the strikes. I bet you’re happy your work day is only 8 hours long and not say 16??? How do you think that happened? Strikes have given us some of our most fundamental rights. I 100% stand behind
@RMTunion
resisting in the face of huge pressure!

really has so much internalised misogyny it is quite baffling that she is still reviewing shows. I remember her review of the turner prize literally brought me to tears.She’s genuinely embarrassing. And today about Venice
I worry that my politics are taking me on a path that will end with me sitting around a cave fire w a group of anarcho-communists eating a bowl of turnip broth, with some harrrrd bread and darning each others socks made of yarn spun from the shed fur of our cats & dogs
We are exploring contemporary art in reception. We created a mini art gallery in our classroom. First We sketched the artwork to help us recall shape, colour & detail. We then used images of the work to support our making.

A year ago Helen, Oscar, Lawrence, and I met in Helen’s hotel room in Margate and went over our speech a final time. This was before the election and there was already a sense of dread, but also hopeful optimism about the fast approaching future.
Historic day for me: I have literally been out here hustling on my own till now, still no gallery, and many financial responsibilities BUT as of today I have a full time studio manager who I hope will save me from weird art self destruction. MANIFESTING THAT I CAN AFFORD IT! 💚
BDS thread 1/5
Israel has voted in the most extremist right wing government in its history, w Netanyahu returning as its head. The actual left in Israel has shrunk to 10% of the vote. My heart breaks for the Palestinians and for Israelis that want peace.
I, (and I think WE) are really, really happy that Tate have decided to do this! Had been thinking recently how much I am pleased we were able to share the prize last year! NO REGRETS CULTURE WAR MORONS! ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
@Tai_Shani
a multidisciplinary practice, comprising installation, performance, film, and photography, revolves around experimental texts to explore the excess and the affects of the epic as the ground for a post-patriarchal realism.
My “expert opinion” is that beyond being formally hideous, conceptually it manages to be both very pathetic, in a deep bootlicking kind of way, and also dangerously unhinged

This moment is not business as usual.
The disallowance of criticism of Israel and expressions of solidarity with Palestine is being normalised and this normalisation has ethical repercussions that are terrifying to me. Enough is enough.
Does any arts organisation that follows me want to give me some money to do a weekly live zoom TV show? so that I can pay partcipating artists and thinkers?
Many artists having everything cancelled are royally f*cked and I would try my best to make it good
🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
I know I sound paranoid but I have disgusting proof about a group of people trying to ruin my career and get my solo shows taken down, pulled out of shows, galleries dropping me over my views - it’s so intense
The artworld: this artist is super urgent because of their work on anti-capitalism/race/anthropocene/migrants/neoliberalism/poverty etc etc
Also the artworld: we will not put our public support behind a government that is also urgent for the same reasons

I lived in Israel for 8 years, it never seemed relevant to speak of my life there but when I left in 2001 I left convinced that it is a hopelessly afflicted, ruthless, selfish society within which every aspect of it is contaminated by the brutality of the occupation
Next to Anish Kap0or’s factory, over the top studio in a little green where he has planted delicious pears and apples, and they are RIPE and READY! Pass it on!
From my experience of living in Israel 2 dominant positions on the Palestinian people are:
1. Annihilation
2. Please live under dehumanising, torturous no end in sight occupation quietly/invisibly so that we can be be part of the western monoculture, look at our cool vegan cafe!
Lawrence F0x was at our local coffee shop today and the person who works there who is a POC put on a black power mix, including Nina Simone’s ‘Young gifted and black” to troll him
I’ve painted this poster for a new project! I’ve been trying to get my head around it for a year now, and It’s starting to make sense to me finally. It’s called ‘The Neon Hieroglyph’,
Open letter of support for Labour signed by Turner prize winner Tai Shani, barrister Sir Geoffrey Bindman, actress Miriam Margolyes, author Michael Rosen and Susie Orbach
The artworld is silent… the last 10 years the it has been supposedly engaged with politics of inequality but are completely silent about a genocide that is built on white supremacist, imperialist, capitalist, colonial poison - the thematic “interests” of the artworld 2013-2023
@nicolelampert
I'm Jewish and find your callousness towards human life absolutely chilling, the whole of your capacity to express or understand any form of care or compassion hypocritically hinged on the tyranny of tribalism. It is so, so dark
I'm here to say, doing online talks is one of the only sources of income artists have had during the pandemic, PLEASE STOP PUTTING THEM ONLINE unless the artist wants that! The fee does not reflect that kind of "content creation" for online presence. PLUS
I am extremely honoured to be in this beautiful exhibition ‘Found Cities, Lost Objects: Women in the City’ curated by
@1lubaina
(Lubaina Himid) and
@NotBeth_Bethany
and see this beast resuscitated! Stellar list of artists at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery ♥️♥️♥️
I really urge you to consider my email correspondence more in the beautiful tradition of letter writing - sometimes many months of anticipation will pass till a letter is received, sometimes it will get lost in the post
Over 150,000 people died of covid in the last year. He was 99, lived a life of luxury at our expense. Shuddering at the thought that we are going to pay for his funeral
Big falling outs with "friends" same as 2011, London riots.
I DON'T CARE ABOUT OBJECTS, AND PROPERTY. I CARE ABOUT LIVES. This is what I believe. Don't bother having this convo with me please. Thank you.
Me in 2023 talking about my work in exactly the way art students are told not to: “it just came to me” “it’s about existing” “it looks cool”. I had my first show in 2001, I’ve spent 22 yrs carefully architecting an “intuition”, 2023 is the yr I release it without justifications
I have a CSM student doing a work placement with me atm and they asked me what I did with all of my big sculpture, I said I throw most of it away and they said “mood” lol
STRIKE GERMANY is a call to strike launched by a diverse collection of artists, writers, and other cultural workers based in Germany. They call on international colleagues to help them overturn this sordid climate of paranoia, fear, and complicit silence.
Commentators saying election has been flat are lying or don’t have the capacity to see socialist Labour has transformed the country. People going canvassing everyday, taking trains, ill, disabled. You’ve woken our hearts to a reality of what we can do together. Today is a war. 🌹
monolingual English speakers will make fun of bi/trilingual people mispronouncing something - just shut up they speak 2 other whole languages just be quiet about where the inflection on Oregano shld be it’s a fucking Greek word anyway
I have no words for the level of fury and upset this bullshit is creating for Jews on the left. How dare these people speak on behalf of all Jews it’s disgusting and has to stop. It’s the most cynical, twisted, poisonous piece of fiction and it is unbearable frankly
Fascists have babies. Fascists have terminal diseases. Fascists have near death experiences. If only it were so easy to change people and make them see that everyone has a right to live and to live a life of dignity. All Rob is actually conceding is that BJ is a bad, bad person.
Having babies change us. Near-death experiences change us.

has the full set. So will he become a very different PM from the one the UK voted for in December?
