We share the acute concerns about the process by which A-level grades have been determined this year. That the impact of this should fall most heavily on the already-disadvantaged is appalling. Please read our full statement here:
Archaeologists at our building site have made a potentially significant discovery that could add a whole new dimension to our understanding of the earliest history of Oxford, and contribute to the wider history of England in the late 9th & 10th centuries.
A glorious May Morning in Oxford!
Thank you to the President and Fellows of Magdalen College (
@magdalenoxford
) for inviting the Master and the Senior Proctor, Professor Tom Adcock, to join them on the Magdalen Tower to celebrate May morning!
We are pleased to announce that Dr Aris Turtle, longtime College Tortoise at St Peter's, will assume the newly created role of Tutorial Fellow in Philosophical Biology. Read more:

We are delighted to announce that Prof Judith Buchanan, current Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at
@UniOfYork
, has been elected as our next Master! Judith will join us from 1 Oct 2019, coinciding with our 40th anniversary of co-education.
A very special degree day yesterday, with our first in person graduation in a very long time for some of our 2020 and 2021 leavers! Congratulations to everyone, and good luck with whatever comes next! 🥳🎉🎓
Thank yous and farewells.
1. to Paul Irons who has helped generations of students from the crucial nerve centre of the Lodge with grace & good humour;
2. to our fabulous archivist Richard Allen.
Remarkable colleagues who will be much missed.
Wishing both well for the next phase.
We are delighted and grateful to be partnering with celebrated rapper and music producer
@ajtracey
in supporting Black students, Black student life and research into Black histories and experiences through the formation of The AJ Tracey Fund.
We've been adopted by a black cat (been hanging around for 3 weeks or so).

are you missing Simpkins IV, or is Artemis on the run again

Today saw Dr Roger Allen, Tutor in Music and former Director of Music, attend his final ever meting of Governing Body before retirement. So, here come's the cake!
@OxMusicFaculty
Really wonderful to see our students matriculating in person for the first time in what seems like a very long time! Congratulations to everyone! 👩🎓👨🎓
Good luck to our very own

Did you know our founder and first Master, Christopher Chavasse, competed in the 1908

Women's 1st and 2nd and Men's 1st and 2nd VIII boats all won blades, making St Peter's the most successful club on the river in the 2022 Summer Eights! 🥳
Today is
#WorldBookDay
, and while we'd normally celebrate an individual book or books, there's no better moment to say thank you to all the fantastic
@UniofOxford
librarians, including our own, who have done so much over the last year to keep the books coming!
@bodleianlibs
Kudos to Director of Music Quintin Beer (

Today is a very special today in college history, as this evening will see the official installation of our newest Master,
@jrboxford
! Professor Judith Buchanan is the ninth person to head St Peter's, and our tenth Master (Julian Thornton-Duesbery held the post twice!)
Last year's degree results have seen the College placed 4th in the 2020 Norrington Table, our highest ever position. 2020 was a difficult year in which to sit exams, and we are delighted for our students and for our tutors at this wonderful set of results
Congratulations to those who learn today they've received on offer from
@UniofOxford
to study at SPC! We look forward to meeting you in Oct! 🎉
To those who don't get the news they'd hoped for: take pride in getting so far in such a competitive process-we wish you every success.
Our friendly fox has apparently moved next door to the

The story of St Peter's began 91 years ago today with this document👇, which allowed Christopher Chavasse, our first Master, to open a hostel known as St Peter's House. A year later (and 90 years ago almost to the day), St Peter's Hall opened its doors! Happy birthday to us! 🎂🥳
🚨Official cuteness alert! 🚨 This little guy showed up in Linton Quad a few days ago (we think his mum may have died) and he's been adopted by our Maintenance team! So far, he's not got a name. Any suggestions?
Our flag is this morning at half mast in memory of Ernie Crawford, who passed away earlier this month after a short illness. Ernie joined us over 10 years ago and was an important and characterful member of our Lodge team. Our thoughts are with Pauline, his widow, and his family.
Since St Peter's is probably the only

college with work folders labelled "Squirrels, etc.", it's only right that we should point out that today is
#SquirrelAppreciationDay
!
We are deeply saddened to share the news that the recent wind storm of 25 June felled the approximately 125-year-old mulberry tree in Mulberry Quad. SPC members, past and present, will feel its loss. A new mulberry tree will be planted in its place in the autumn.
Congratulations to

It is with great sadness that we report the death of our oldest alumnus, Mr John Haynes (1936, PPE), at the age of 103. 👉 The college flag will fly at half-mast.

Jacqui Dearden has been an amazing Schools Liaison Officer for SPC. On behalf of all the talented young people whose lives she has touched and tutors who've had excellent applicants as a result of her outreach work, thank you Jacqui. All the best for the next phase of things!
Happy Christmas to all who are celebrating!
This painting of Father Christmas visiting St Peter's is by Biochemistry student Emily, and was selected as the winning entry in this year's Christmas Card Design Competition!
Adding subtitles to some new videos and absolutely loving the fact that the

auto-caption feature regularly renders "St Peter's" as "some pizzas". Yum! 🍕

offers today! Whatever happens, you should take great pride in what you have achieved under the most challenging of circumstances. And, if you have an offer from SPC, we'll look forward to seeing you in October!
St Peter's turns 95 this year! We couldn't resist using the
