My thoughts are with this brave young educator, who was hit in the hand by a stray bullet while setting up his classroom for the first day of school.
I will continue to fight for expanded gun free school zones for the safety of our youth and educators.
My heart breaks for everyone impacted by the horrific shooting today in Winder, Georgia.
So many lives needlessly lost, so many universes hopelessly destroyed. This carnage must end.

As a public official who has had mental health struggles, I know the courage it takes to share your journey. I also know the power of its destigmatizing impact.
I commend my colleague for speaking her truth to help others, and send her my support during this time of healing.
Like many Americans, I struggle with depression.
I'm sharing this with you today because I believe we need to de-stigmatize mental health illness.
