After Jimmy Tillette announced his retirement from coaching basketball two weeks ago we are pleased to announce that Randy Livingston, class of ‘93, will be our new head coach. Go Greenies!!!

Newman Boys Basketball fights off an unbelievable shooting performance from the LCA Knightd to win its 10th basketball state championship. Great team victory, great coaching adjustments and a great performance from Canin Jefferson who was named the games most outstanding player.

The Newman volleyball team finishes their state championship season 39-5 and did not drop a single set in 5 tournament victories in the state playoffs. This is the schools 18th state volleyball championship in the schools 109th overall state championship.

For the first time in school history the Newman girls basketball team makes the state semi finals after a gritty win against rival St Charles Catholic. Congrats girls. Great job to Tracy and the staff as well.

Newman football gets another win last night and senior wide receiver Jarmone Sutherland now holds the school record for most catches, yards and touchdown receptions. Great kid and a great receiver for Newman!

in the state, and fresh off a victory against Southern Lab, takes on top ranked Zachary Monday at 630pm. The game will be streamed thanks to Crescent City Sports.
Newman football won the LSU 7-7 passing championship for the second straight year, defeating Capitol 16-6 in the championship game!!! The boys went 5-1-1 on the day and competed at a very high level. Congrats!!!
In front of a packed house your number one ranked Newman boys basketball team takes down the number one team in division two, Liberty. This was a Great high school basketball game tonight in the Palaestra and we are proud of both the girls and boys hoops teams.
We are thrilled to share that senior football player John Guillot will play football at Rhodes next fall and senior guard Austin Montgomery is a preferred walk on for the LSU basketball team next year. Congrats guys!!!

Both girls and boys swim teams leave it all in the pool and are once again state champs. That’s six in a row for the boys and four out of the last five for the girls. And to top it all off that’s the schools 99th and 100th state championship. Go Greenies!
Congratulations to seniors Martin Butcher, Murray Calhoun, and Liam Rowan. All were selected by the LFCA(louisiana football coaches association)as members of the class 2a all-state team. Additionally congratulations to Butcher who was selected to the composite all state team.
And a huge shout out to Newman alum, Angus Lind, Class of 1962, who is being inducted to to the Tulane University Sports Hall of Fame. What a great ambassador of both great institutions.

Congratulations to Newman Greenies senior lacrosse captain Hackett Cummins on his signing with the Division-I Furman University Paladins! Hackett is the first D-I lacrosse recruit to come out of Louisiana.
Congratulations to the boys basketball team who beat a very talented team from Port Allen tonight, 53-52. The Greenies went 3-0 in the Catholic High tournament and improve their record to 11-2 on the season. Great job by the boys and the staff!

Thanks to the demonstrated interest of many Newman girls, and due to the leadership of coaches Robin Christian and Tracy Blackerby Newman once again has an upper school softball team. Today they had their first game and came out victorious. Great job, Greenies!!!Future is bright

The boys soccer team advance to the state finals with a 2 0 win at Episcopal. Leo Singer puts the game away with two minutes to go off of a great finish. State championship will be in Hammond on Monday night.
Newman Baseball secures a huge program win with a hard earned W tonight against perennial baseball 5A power John Curtis, 4-3. And the girls track team has a tremendous showing in Baton Rouge and takes home first place in the Episcopal track meet. Great night, Greenies!
Rising junior Liza Lapeyre wins the Girls 13-18 division of the 2020 Future Tour Championship in Greenville, MS shooting 75 and 69 over a strong field. Liza birdied 2 of the final 4 holes for a two shot victory. Great work,Liza!
