Happy Indigenous Peoples’ Day!Black & Indigenous history is tied to the colonization of this land and our liberation is inherently tied together. This country was built on exploitation, enslavement, & genocide of our people - that is why Black & Indigenous solidarity is essential
On November 22, 2014, 12-year-old Tamir Rice was shot and killed by Cleveland police officer Timothy Loehmann. Loehmann shot Tamir almost immediately after arriving on the scene and seeing him playing with a toy gun. Today is Tamir's birthday. He would’ve been 18.
(THREAD) The Movement for Black Lives (M4BL) proudly stands in solidarity with the Očhéthi Šakówiŋ (Great Sioux Nation) & demands that the United States government uphold its legal obligation under the 1868 Ft. Laramie Treaty and return the sacred Ȟe Sápa (Black Hills) to them.
In Columbus Ohio, police killed this beautiful young girl today. This is an illustration of why convictions and reform just aren’t enough for our communities.
Ma’Khia Bryant, you should still be here with us. You deserved to live a whole and vibrant life 💛

Trump has given a green light to cops and militias to beat, maim and kill people with impunity.
He has now illegally activated the military to maintain power and use force on civilians.
The red line has been crossed too many times.
He must resign.
Our lives depend on it.
Welcome to Black August — a month dedicated to learning about Black revolutionaries and honoring their struggle against white supremacy, colonialism, capitalism, and imperialism. Today, we follow in the footsteps of Black radicals in the fight for liberation.

Today, we recognize that history is muddled with revisionist stories that don’t mention the genocide, exploitation, and colonization of Indigenous Peoples’ land. It’s past time that we recognize the harm done to Indigenous communities during this National Day of Mourning.
We stand in solidarity with the folks protesting in Brazil after João Alberto Silveira Freitas, a 40 year old Black man, was murdered by Carrefour supermarket security, one being an off duty temporary military police officer.

Today we honor Breonna Taylor on her 27th birthday. On 3/13, Breonna was killed by 3 police officers who entered her home & shot her 8 times while she was asleep. They claimed to be looking for a suspect who was already in custody. No arrests have been made.

We are global.
To lay a path for future generations, we are calling for the SIX NINETEEN mobilization on Juneteenth weekend. June 19-21.
We invite you to take action from home, in your community or by joining us in Washington, D.C.

When we take to the streets, we do so to defend our lives and build power.
This is not that. This is hatred embodied to protect the status quo of who has power in this country and who doesn't.
These people are not protestors.
Casey Goodson should still be alive. He should be continuing his dreams, laughing with family, and being a compassionate, lighthearted friend.
Instead of enjoying a day with his little brother, his life was taken away much too soon in the hands of law enforcement.

Today is the DC Maga March and it began by striping down the faces of Black children who were killed in the streets by police.
The callousness of this moment is infuriating, but the
@DCPoliceDept
standing by, protecting these white supremacist vandals, is too much.
America designed a fraudulent deal with Black folks. We are currently redesigning.
We will avenge the suffering of our ancestors.

and his family whose life is forever changed. Six years ago, police murdered 12 y/o Tamir in Cleveland, OH, as he played in the park.
This is a hard one. Rep. John Lewis, thank you for your service, for decades of good trouble. 1940 - 2020
Rest, uncle John. We know the mandate.
We will make you proud. 🙏🏾✊🏾
As we hit the streets across the country demanding justice, this week we are also going to take a moment to educate ourselves about the nuances of violence that impacts Black people, and deepen our imagination about a world without police.
Three years ago today, George Floyd was murdered by Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin. As we commemorate his death and reflect on how many of our people have been murdered by the state and white supremacy, we are devastated.
Today marks the beginning of the Haitian Revolution, which started when enslaved Hatian’s rebelled against the French regime. From August 14, 1791, until January 1, 1804 thousands of people came together to claim their land.

We do not accept accountability that focuses on individual actions and not those who create and maintain racist structures.
That is unacceptable. That is dangerous. That is why we must join in the calls from Brazil. We are here to stand for justice!

Many Democrats & activists have suggested reforms as solutions to police murders against Black people. We know that reforms aren’t an effective solution to eradicating police violence. Let’s take a look at the effects of some of the reforms that people propose as solutions.

Another excruciating story from Gaza: Two doctors, Muhammad Al-Ran, Head of the Surgery Department at the Indonesian Hospital & Dr. Muayyad Al-Ran received news that their house was hit with an airstrike & their family members were killed while they were at work a short while ago
Anti-black racism is the root of so much evil. We shouldn’t be mourning the loss of Dr. Susan Moore. This is the same healthcare system we lost Dr. Chaniece Wallace to in October.
This is unacceptable.
We lost another doctor today
To COVID
But this doctor was mistreated. Her symptoms were ignored, downplayed and dismissed. She posted a heartbreaking video begging her fellow doctors to help save her...
She called the patient advocate...
She called the chief medical officer...
