Iโve seen every call, text, DM, tag, and post, and it means the world to me & my family. I have a lot say, but still processing it all. So for now, I just wanted to say THANK YOU. For 17 years your support was unwavering, and my family and I will never forget it.
Walked out to catch my ride to the airport for camp at 630 & see these two & other folks from neighborhood to wish me & the Woods luck! I canโt decide whatโs funnier โMr. Kyleโ or my guy Tim w/ champagne and a lit sparkler at 630AM. What a crew. โค๏ธ
So many thoughts, probably too much for a twitter thread, at least for now. Thank you,
@CoachPetro43
. Took a chance on a skinny kid from Friends School, and man what a run we had.
Been a fan of his from a distance since his college days, but what
@jsankey11
did yesterday was nothing short of amazing. 2 years of injuries & beating Testicular Cancer, to right back on the field being the match up nightmare heโs been his entire career. Keep inspiring, brotha.
From the last time we walked off the field at Hop together, to the last time we walked off the field as pros, itโs been an honor,
@PaulRabil
. As someone who has gotten to watch since you were 17, your commitment to the work, from beginning, is what separated you.
The saddest part here is that Iโm not surprised. The amount of parents & players who reach out on a weekly basis saying theyโve experienced something similar is heartbreaking. Weโre all rockin with you, Luther.
Every night at dinner, my wife asks everyone at the table โwhat was the best part of your day?โ We go around the table, and answers are always a toss up. Today, when it got to Brooke (our 5 year old), she said โThis moment, right now Mommy.โ Needed it.
Jumped the gun last week. Today is officially the day, lil Brooke officially starts lacrosse! She said โIโll wear my Redwoods jersey next week, my favorite dress should be the first thing I wear to the field.โ Atta girl, go get it!
I remember sitting in a locker room next to
@jessehubbard16
rookie year and asking him for advice. His response, โenjoy it, it goes fast.โ Maaaaan it does. Iโm thankful for every opportunity to play this game. Utah bound. Year 16 on deck. ๐ด๐พ
2019 and the
@NLLwings
arena announcer saying โletโs snip the pony tailโ to the whole arena and fans saying theyโre going to scalp me.... damn Daniel.
Hope your holiday is going better than my nephew LA! Wishing everyone a happy & safe Thanksgiving! In one of the craziest & most stressful years of our lifetime, thereโs still so very much to be thankful for.
Every time Iโm at my parents house I somehow make my way to this picture downstairs. I love everything about it. What it represents. What it inspires. What that group endured. What it started. Man I love this picture.
For 3 years he worked his a** off & stayed the course. The most impressive part was as tough as it was for him mentally & physically, he was ALWAYS a great teammate during the process, doing whatever he could to help. Thanks for reminding us what toughness looks like brotha.
The amount of skill in the game these days is off the charts. The pass, the handle, and the shot all elite. If this is whatโs required these days, Iโm happy to be seated on the couch. Sheesh.
This really bummed me out. Every time I think we take a step forward (even if itโs a small one), something like this happens. We all have to work together in teaching whatโs acceptable, because this isnโt it.
This stuff is taught, man. Folks arenโt born this way. Iโve got so many damn thoughts on this nonsense, still trying to make sense of it....but, Iโm heartbroken for the player whose TEAMMATES did this.
Found it. Directly in front of our bench. Our best defender (AA) guarding him. And that man throws a back peddling backhand on a rope, on Knees ear for a g. I remember audibly screaming Gotdamn.
Never would have thought Iโd be wearing Green on Homewood but maaaaaaaan it feels good to be back. Oh, also, that man Charlie Bertrand is dangerous. Whew.
If the stick drop existed when I was in college, this is exactly how it would have gone down. Coach Petro would have cussed me out. Coach T would have been a combination of fired up / laughing / angry. Coach Dwan would have hand over his mouth (and be laughing).
#playlaxday
You kiddin me man? MVP, worlds best player, game winner in the Championship game? You hear post game interview - all about his teammates. The game is in good hands yโall. 26 is HIM, has been for a long time.
The emotion from our leader in this moment will forever be imbedded in my memory. The turn to the sideline w/ 5 seconds left, the water cooler bath w/ the staff & fist pump, the hug & fist pump to the crowd. The 1st time in 18 years, he brought it back 2 Homewood. Thank u, Coach.
Durin our mini stick games, some folks would hang & watch. This moment, was the weekends best. This father walked by w/ his son & both immediately jumped in the shootout. We laughed, kicked it & kept it movin. I have my frustrations at times, but this game is full of great people
Cleaning up a bit this morning & stumbled across this pic again. Happens once, or twice a year, and never gets old. Iโve got a bigger version put away, but I like the original more.
This man was born to lead. Couldnโt be more excited to watch
@ChazzWoodson
continue to build the
@Hampton_MLAX
program! As great as he was on the field (& he was GREAT), I genuinely believe his impact on this game from the sidelines will be even greater. Keep leadin, Uncle Chazz.
My regular season thoughts - a thread.
@lyle4thompson
. Talent / skill is unmatched, without a doubt. But his demeanor, approach to the game, selflessness, body language & support of his teammates is like nothing Iโve ever seen before. Weโre lucky weโre all getting to witness it.
What this dude did last weekend was incredible. Bum ankle, could hardly run & probably shouldnโt have gone. But, he knew we needed him & willed himself through the game. A deep 2 before half, couple scraps, and a big hit set the tone for the game. 5 is as tough as it gets.
Yo virtual kindergarten is the wild wild west! So impressed by the patience & skill by the teachers to keep these kids engaged, cause these cats will say whatever they want, whenever they want.
The 1st time I saw him play was in 9th grade & he had just committed to UVA. An AA, National Champ, & All Star at the Pro level, he was one of the most exciting players to watch. Always 1 of the best athletes on the field, but his IQ separated him. The man, John Christmas.

Short convo between
@CoachPetro43
and I pregame, every game So - Sr year (freshman year he just said catch the ball Kyle). No matter what happened in practice that week or what the match up was, his confidence in me, gave me confidence in myself. College lacrosse is back!
Found the drive w/ every game from my college career on it that I thought I lost when I moved back from LA. This is our 1st scrimmage of spring FR yr against Cornell when I thought I was still hoopin. XXL sweats & hoopin shoes! No idea what I was doin yet, but, we was shakin tho.
Coaches mini stick game 1 (series of 5) on the weekend in the books. Watching
@TomSchreiber26
last weekend got me dreamin. Needed a sub, immediately.๐ ๐พ
Appreciate yโall. W/ so many incredibly talented players having big seasons, I certainly didnโt plan on bein voted into playin next weekend out west (was planning on ๐ด). That said, your support has been unwavering for 17 years & means more than I could ever express.

Last night my dad received the For The Love Of the Game award. He loves this game, always has, always will. To all in the crowd who gave my father a standing ovation, THANK YOU. The look of pride on his face as he looked out at the crowd is one Iโll remember the rest of my life.
I know everyone saw the game winner (which was gas), but, all you kids out there, watch how hard
@ryan_ambler
plays ALL THE TIME. Foot never comes off the gas. One of my all time favorite teammates.
Iโm the guest reader at Brookes 1st grade class tomorrow and she just gave me a speech saying I better not mess this up. Whew. Iโm over here nervous as hell, smh.
At halftime on the walk up to the locker room, I heard the cutest lil voice calling me! Thrilled we got to meet post game. Only got to play there twice, but, Albany is without a doubt one of my favorite places Iโve had the opportunity to play. Roll โWoods baby.
My dad spoke to the
@PremierLacrosse
front office yesterday on the weekly Tuesday Morning Meeting. He talked about his experience as a black man in America, playing this sport, Morgan, and provided ways to take action. Grew up with a Super hero down the hall.
