In 1883 Joseph Thomson, was the first European to reach Thomson's Falls, and named them for his father. Since the authorities have failed to do the obvious. We have decided to revert their name from today henceforth to "Nyahururu Falls." RETWEET in support. Photo by Yuf.

As we grew up in the small town of Thomson Falls we called the waterfalls ‘Kîrurumo’ derived from word thunder. The town was surrounded by Samburu/Maasai named villages the locals probably had a name for falls. Gikuyu settlers from Nyeri renamed the town Nyahururu from T. Falls
