Giving a conference talk in 5 acts: 1. I really want to give a talk. 👍 2. Why the fuck did I say yes to this? 😰 3. Oh God, this is going to be awful. 😭 4. Adrenaline and sweat. 😱 5. That was cool, people seemed to not hate it. 😎 Repeat and learn nothing.

This is the exact thesis of the Special Projects team at GitHub. Bring joy to users by fixing the small bits of friction they experience every day, set rules to avoid accidentally working on "big features", and keep on iterating and listening. ⚡️

Prioritize paper-cuts in your products over features. Missing features might bring more users, but they will just join the ranks of frustrated users that you are not helping. My long-tail thesis is that the pain of papercuts is larger than the pain of a missing feature

I have to take meetings pretty late because of timezones in a remote-based company. But, special shout out to my co-workers who don't care when now two children come in and insist on being seen. ❤️

A huge shoutout to the dozens of people at GitHub working on this problem and the hundreds on securing the supply chain. 🙏 You the real MVPs.

To me, the best Platforms allow you to do things that the creators of those Platform didn't expect and for that new experience to be more valuable than the sum of its parts. It's a very different goal that most of us are used to.

After a long day, nothing quite reminds you what really matters like your son peeing his pants because he thought your joke was that funny. Excuse me while I go wash my hands.

Really excited to have my whole team descend on Boston for our Ecosystem Mini-Summit. Lots of good planning for the coming year and seeing your co-workers (who are normally remote) collaborate in person is great. ✨

Been a bit but I’m about to be hiring for more folks to join @SiminaPasat and I working on Special Projects at @github . If you enjoy a wide variety of work, diving into new codebases frequently, shipping improvements iteratively and quickly, tune in or reach out! 😁 🎉
