I’ve been reading a lot about the history of pandemics. I’ve concluded that they all begin with crisis and end with leadership. Today
@GovTimWalz
did what no Governor wants to do in extending
#StayHomeMN
. History will be kind to him. Our econonomic recovery will benefit.
If you’re a man and you haven’t asked yourself, “how often do I talk over women and what am I going to do to change that” in the past 24 hours, you’re doing it wrong.
You can disagree w/ decisions that leaders like
@GovTimWalz
&
@grove
have made throughout this pandemic, but please don’t question the positive intent behind them. I’ve yet to encounter a leader who doesn’t prioritize public health AND the economy. It’s an impossible task.
My son Jake turns 18 this week. We’ve had him quarantined with Grandma and Grandpa to keep them all safe and healthy. We’ve been worried that COVID-19 might mean he doesn’t see his 18th birthday. You can be part of the solution. ->
#StayHomeMN
!
Imagine being (or at least feeling) responsible for 5,639,632* lives and 2,685,047* jobs. You’ve just imagined
@GovTimWalz
’s past 9 weeks. People are dying. Businesses are dying. I remain grateful for our elected and business leaders as we navigate this pandemic.
*Census Data
Since the beginning of this pandemic I’ve said that the best way to keep our economy open and keep Minnesotans healthy is to contain the virus. In recent weeks we’ve lost control. I support
@GovTimWalz
’s move today to
#DialBackMN
. Let’s do this, Minnesota!
World class testing and vaccination protocols made possible by
@GovTimWalz
and his administration mean Jake got to come back to our house for the first time since March 2020 today! It’s a good day!
What does
#MaskUpMN
mean to you? For us it means keeping our oldest son safe! I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again...THANK YOU
@GovTimWalz
for prioritizing public health! Jake’s life depends on it.
#COVID19
What if
#StayHomeMN
is the best way to
#ReOpenMN
?! I’m increasingly convinced that these two positions are NOT mutually exclusive. I’m going to continue to work like heck w/
@GovTimWalz
&
#mnleg
to reboot our economy while prioritizing the health of Minnesotans!
@MplsChamber
My special needs son has been in the ICU (not COVID related) for the past week and we are experiencing first hand the challenges our healthcare system is facing. Our doctors and nurses are HEROES! GET VACCINATED, FOLKS!
The highly infectious delta variant has emerged and seized on the vulnerabilities in Minnesota, where more than 1 million people remain unvaccinated.
"This go-around, the mortality is incredibly high."
A FB connection posted this today:
”I myself will not comply and will not wear a mask. It's called freedom. Freedom is to chose what is best for you and not to be told by a dictator.”
This is not about YOU! This is about EVERYONE ELSE, including my vulnerable son.
#MaskUpMN
Thanks
@amyklobuchar
for increasing my “cool factor” with my boys! They’ve been doing a lot of “we know her” with their friends. They’re also planning a trip to the White House. No pressure!
I just responded to a hateful email that attacked members of our Muslim community. I wasn’t “Minnesota Nice.” It explicitly called out
@IlhanMN
and
@keithellison
. I’d like to go on the record that I have ZERO tolerance for intolerance, which is the only intolerance I’ll tolerate.
Today we learned of a family (single mom and two kids) in the Minneapolis tent encampment who secured permanent shelter for the next year. Our boys were excited to go shopping to help outfit their apartment!
I’m pretty sure
@GovTimWalz
was built to lead through a global pandemic. As hard as this is, the residents and businesses of Minnesota are being well-served.
I have incredible respect and admiration for our local media who are on the ground providing real-time coverage of today’s events. Thank you

,
@KSTP
,
@FOX9

@kare11
et al!
The best way to keep Minnesotans healthy and our economy open:
Wear a mask -> 😷
Wash your hands -> 🧼 🖐
Stay 6 ft apart ->🧍🏻<- 6ft ->🧍🏽♂️
Avoid large gatherings -> 👨👩👧👧👨👨👧👧👩👩👧👧
“The next 6 to 12 weeks are going to be critical in this fight.” -
@GovTimWalz
Restaurants are short staffed. Your wait staff is doing everything they can. The kitchen is crushed and doing everything they can. Offer grace! Be kind! We get to choose the restaurant scene we want post-pandemic. It involves patience NOW!
"Mean Twitter" (which is a lot of Twitter) has asked if I have a soul. I DO. And a disabled son. And three other boys. And a wife who struggles with anorexia. I'm imperfect. My family is imperfect. I care DEEPLY about them AND our region. That is all.
Today the Nicollet Mall
@target
security guard stopped me and said, “you’re the weather guy, right?” I’m just going to assume he meant
@svensundgaard
😎!
Staying home is hard. Trust me, I’m doing it with 4 boys. But it’s working! We are winning the fight against
#COVID19
! I stand with
@GovTimWalz
and look forward to our continued partnership as we work to reboot our economy AND keep Minnesotans safe.
#StayHomeMN
#TooLocalToFail
I’m grateful to voters in the
@MoundsViewK12
District for entrusting me to continue serving on the School Board and for saying YES to investing in our students and our community. Let’s get back to work!
Slow service at a restaurant? BE KIND!
Slow service at the hospital or clinic? BE KIND!
Slow service at the grocery check-out? BE KIND!
Slow service waiting for a customer service rep by phone? BE KIND!
Get the point? BE KIND! BE KIND! BE KIND!
Today I filed to run for re-election to the
@MoundsViewK12
School Board. No photo op. No launch party. No glamour. After all, this isn’t always (or ever 😄) glamorous work! It is, however, some of the most important work that I have the privilege to do. Cheers!
Our PCA called in sick tonight and we were hosting a business dinner. Since
@GovTimWalz
wasn’t available to fill in we brought Jake along. He had a great time at the newly opened 801 Chophouse!
It’s Friday afternoon. It’s beautiful outside in MN ☀️😎! In newsrooms all over the state there is a reporter, a researcher, an editor, a publisher & countless others working to validate and produce credible content. Thank them by SUBSCRIBING to their publication! That is all.
I’m interviewing communications candidates today. The most important question is, “how many spaces after a period and why is it one?,” right?! Maybe I’ll throw in something about a new default font since
@DeRushaJ
upended my morning with the Calibri news!
If u advocate for housing w/o advocating for transit, you’re doing it wrong.
If u advocate for workforce w/o advocating for housing, you’re doing it wrong.
If u advocate for transit w/o advocating for workforce, you’re doing it wrong.
They’re all connected!

If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a thousand times...It is an incredible privilege to advocate on behalf of the
@GreaterMSP
region and State of MN. A complete and accurate Census count is critical to the continued economic growth of our region and State!
#2020Census
@MplsChamber
Earlier today I asked
@GovTimWalz
to consider a statewide mask mandate. My colleagues across the country are facing a second wave of shutdowns. We can lead the nation in reopening our economy and keeping employees and customers safe!
@MplsChamber
@GreaterMSP
#MaskUpMN
That public sector employee that you think shouldn’t receive market rate pay is working 12-20 hours per day right now to address
#COVID19
. Let that sink in.
Tonight one of my kids told me about their “safety check” at school. It involved “hiding” and “staying very quiet.” Is this what we want for OUR kids? It’s time to get serious about sensible gun safety laws. TY
@jasondisaacson
for championing this effort!
#mnleg
When I took over the
@MplsChamber
I had only heard stories about North Minneapolis. The same stories that most people have heard. Since then I’ve spent time in this incredible community with amazing people. It’s part of my
#WeAreMpls
story.

There is a growing urgency to get things back to “normal.” Back to the way it used to be. We can’t afford to do that. We left an economy that didn’t work for everyone. What if this is our chance to build one that does?
@TawannaABlack
@EconInclusion
@MplsChamber
I’m pretty sure I gained celebrity status with the neighbor kids when
@KSTP
stopped by to interview me about

Honored to be elected Chair of the
@MoundsViewK12
School Board! Slightly disappointed that they don’t let you bring the gavel home with you between meetings!
Ran errands today. Our businesses are taking on
#COVID19
: employees in masks, social distancing guidance and plenty of sanitizer. Unfortunately, only about 50% of customers are wearing masks 😬! Time for
@GovTimWalz
to mandate masks! Our economy is counting on it! 😷
#StaySafeMN
We need business people in the public sector, they said. Then they ran
@lbishopw
out of her role. I'm furious. This kind of bullying and
#cancelculture
shouldn't be tolerated.
This year has been tough for small businesses. It’s been tough for all of us. Partnering with
@TinaSmithMN
in my work with
@MplsChamber
supporting small businesses has been a bright spot. It’s why I support sending her back to DC.
When did whether or not someone shoveled their sidewalk become news? I’m okay with the fact that
@lisabendermpls
was too busy tending to business at City Hall (while being a ROCKSTAR mom) to clear the sidewalk. That is all.
My neighbor, who happens to be Muslim, just stopped by with a
@nothingbundt
cake and Easter greetings. He is my friend. He is my brother. There is more that unites us than divides us!
This guy rocked his ACL surgery at
@GilletteChildrn
today and is resting comfortably at home. He’s sporting the hat
@athielen19
(let’s be honest, it was
@MRS_T_19
) sent him from the Thielen Foundation before the surgery!
I was honored to be
@GovTimWalz
’s guest at his first “State of the State Address” last year. In recent weeks I’ve been grateful for his partnership with the business community as we navigate the COVID-19 pandemic. My statement regarding tonight’s
#MNSOTS
address:
Transportation is an economic competitiveness issue.
Housing is an economic competitiveness issue.
Workforce is an economic competitiveness issue.
I urge
@GovTimWalz
,
@melissahortman
&
@paulgazelka
to work together to make progress on these critical issues!
#mnleg
I won’t lie. I’m worried. Worried about our economy. Worried about our public health. I’m also thankful. Thankful for essential workers. Thankful for the resolve of our business community. And hopeful. Hopeful for business success. Hopeful for a prosperous future.
@MplsChamber
I'm disappointed by the resignation of
@lbishopw
as
@MnPCA
Commissioner. We encourage corporate leaders to step into public service and they become the target of a divided legislature after a special session? We should do better.
You know the “Do you want to send this message without a subject” warning? I think we need a “Do you REALLY need to ‘reply all’ to this message” warning! Who’s with me?
I appreciate
@GovTimWalz
's can-do attitude and optimistic approach. MN has record low unemployment, ranks at the top in job growth & is making historic investments in education while cutting taxes. Time to finish this session strong and keep MN poised for success.
#MNSOTS
We drove our boys by the Francis Drake Hotel site tonight. They asked if we could help the families. The answer is YES! We’re supporting the “Drake Hotel Recovery Fund” via

We've been upgraded (or downgraded- depends on your perspective) to a WINTER STORM WARNING, it includes much of the Twin Cities metro- in effect for TOMORROW-TOMORROW NIGHT:
We used the pandemic time to renovate the
@MplsChamber
offices! Love the naming schematic of our conference rooms. It reflects our work and the connectivity of the
@GreaterMSP
region! Look forward to welcoming partners into our improved space (when it’s safe)!
A great day to stand with
@amyklobuchar
and Labor leaders to celebrate the $1 trillion infrastructure package that will bring jobs and economic opportunity to the
@GreaterMSP
region and State of Minnesota!

BREAKING: New report finds transit investments in

Today’s news from Target wasn’t a surprise, nor a cause for concern. Orgs that want to be an “employer of choice” need to offer more flexibility. It may mean they need less space. Downtowns that want to remain vibrant will need to reinvent and reinvest. We’re ready!
@MplsChamber
I have some good news and some bad news. The good news...I burned 660 calories at the

On 9/11 2,977 people were lost. It changed the way we live. To date Covid-19 has claimed nearly 100,000 Americans. You’re being asked to stay home and wear a mask. You can do this!
