Every pixel matters! Here's an ancient tree I did for a key moment in Bionic Bay. It's only used once in the game but the payoff is real! (I hope...๐ค)

There are 5 types of snowfall here:
Background:
1. Basic snowfall with particle size of one pixel
Game layer:
2. Particles collide with the environment
Foreground:
3. Blurry + more speed & noise
4. Very blurry + large particles
5. Large wind layer very close to camera

Call me old-fashioned, but in my opinion, if you're creating a physics-based Sci-Fi game, every snowflake should collide with the environment. ๐

I'm building Bionic Bay literally one pixel at a time!
( Disclaimer: Custom brushes, paint bucket tool, blend modes, copy/paste, transform... Unity... some Blender may have been used...๐)

Still making some experiments with Black & White. I know I should use colors, I know it would be less risky, I know there's more mass appeal in colors...
But still... This looks kinda cool right?

Making some variations for the machines in Photoshop. Rearranging the parts + adding dirt and leaks. It's quite fun actually. You get results fast, much faster than when making the original parts in pixel art ๐

My original idea was to not have any music in Bionic Bay, just environmental sounds. However, I've since changed my mind a bit. Subtle use of ambience in a spot like this can really elevate the experience.
While prototyping this camera tilt effect with a slight bullet-time-like slowdown, I realized I can now use these ropes to access a secret pathway.

Currently finalizing this ancient robot factory environment. Aiming for analog futurism and 80s blueish smoke effects. Not sure if either of those are a thing but maybe you know what I mean...

Some adjustments: Slight changes on how the snow particles behave: Less bouncy, more gravity towards the ground. I know that it may not be entirely realistic, but I also consider the aesthetic appeal in all of this.

Just got into my first ever Twitter dispute. A fellow artist claimed I was using AI. While doing that he had no arguments, was hostile + constantly offended me. I explained my process with wip images etc but he just became more hostile. Anyway, here's my process

Trying to maximize the beauty of simulated snowflakes with crystal-clear icy reflections. Bit by bit, this is starting to feel like a real world. โ๏ธ
