An absolute punch in the gut to hear this answer from the Justice Secretary.
I *did* report it to the police, but 6 months later my samples are still sitting in a lab untested.
Blaming victims for choosing not to report incidents is wrong on so many levels. He should apologise.
Spiking is sinister, dangerous and widespread.
Today I raised concerns of victims like Jess Insall who feel let down by the authorities.
The SNP justice secretary’s answer was disrespectful and typically evasive. Does he even listen to Qs?
This is the first election I’m old enough to vote in and the excitement is real...
Practically bounced to the polling station at 7am to cast my lilac vote for
@DeanLockhartMSP
and my peach ballot for
@ScotTories
!
Democracy is precious - get out and use your vote!
#PeachVoteTory
It was incredible to meet
@RishiSunak
tonight in Edinburgh. He has some great plans for the future of our country and our party!
I’m so excited to be backing a candidate who believes in innovation and technology, and was very impressed by his crypto tax chat 😉
#Ready4Rishi
As much as I would love a tax cut, now is not the right time.
We need a Prime Minister who will get inflation under control, and that’s why I’ll be voting for
@RishiSunak
this summer! 💪🗳
#Ready4Rishi
I spoke to the
@Sunday_Mail
about how the NHS and Police services are letting down spiking victims. The systems are broken and it is denying victims the justice they deserve.
Yeah I’m 20 and literally sitting in an office doing someone’s tax return at the moment. I will soon go home to cook my dinner and clean my flat. I’m literally a fully boring adult, I don’t need the government holding my hand.
I really don't understand where this new 25-year-old nannying age of adulthood has just appeared from all of a sudden? We as a society agreed on 18 in 1969 and yet from gambling to potential driving rights we're now infantilising a whole new age range of adults
After 2 days of the canapé and wine diet, the post-conference health kick is off to a very wet start!
It was fantastic to talk about the bright future that lies ahead for Scotland - the hard part making it happen starts now!
#SCC23
Can’t quite believe it’s only 3 more sleeps until polling day!
Spent the day in Kings Park delivering leaflets for
@DeanLockhartMSP
- it’s great to see so many people out making the most of the weather and supporting local businesses!
#PeachVoteTory
@dieworkwear
I don’t buy Shein, but my office has clothes swap nights so if I buy something online that is nice but not me I usually just save it for that, or give it to a friend. If it’s really not nice I will send it back.
Bit of personal news - I sat my final ACCA Applied Knowledge exam this morning - delighted to receive confirmation that I passed! 🍾🥳
I’m really looking forward to moving onto the Applied Skill level and HUGE kudos to
@ACCANews
for running remote exams so smoothly!
#ACCA
I would highly recommend to all the trolls on here that you crawl out from under your bridge and go enjoy the sunshine ☀️
It’s an absolutely gorgeous morning. If nothing else you will get some much needed vitamin D, and who knows, it might even make you a nicer person!
@ChrisMusson
It’s so frustrating! I have been through every administrative process under the sun reporting, rereporting, sending FOIs, and still no answers from anyone.
An absolute punch in the gut to see this response from the Justice Secretary.
As a council tax paying teenager this all feels a bit patronising...
I’m proud to be earning money and paying my taxes - young people don’t need to be wrapped up in bubble wrap, we need a government that supports education and creates jobs so we can reach our full potential 💪
Doubling child payment/giving laptops to all pupils - what has been preventing the government from doing this already? And no council tax for home-owning 18 to 21s, what are the stats on that number of population? I know it’s election optics but these feel like weak broth.
Great to talk with BBC News today about why I am
#Ready4Rishi
💪
We need a Prime Minister who will get inflation under control and keep interest rates steady to end the cost of living crisis 📈
Investing in testing is a great step towards justice for more victims.
To end spiking in Scotland we need:
- More training for venue staff
- Tougher punishments for spiking
- Standard spiking protocols
That is why I’m backing
@RussellFindlay1
’s new bill to tackle this crime.
Insanely cool day today abseiling off the Forth Bridge to raise money for Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland! 🫀
The views were incredible and I totally felt like James Bond
(That’s me on the right 😱)
I am a Conservative because I believe in free enterprise and ambition.
However, at the end of the day I want all parties to do well. Democracy needs a strong government and a strong opposition. We’re all in politics to make people’s lives better, let’s not forget that!
Great to hear
@RussellFindlay1
chat about his positive vision for Scotland.
So proud to be campaigning with such an aspirational and hard working bunch of people, the future of our party is bright 💙
@TypeForVictory
Income tax is also much much lower than in the UK. If you give areas more tax raising power you can’t then also tax the crap out of people centrally.
Great morning to be out canvassing for
@stirling_tories
! ☀️
We were so hard at work in Causewayhead that we forgot to take a team photo, so here is a picture of a friendly cat I met instead.🐱
@blairmcdougall
£80k is the figure after depreciation. Closer to £110k if you gross up, which is pretty coincidentally close!
The other important point is that if it’s not in the accounts then the argument that it is a company vehicle falls flat. Arguably much much worse situ for them.
Blustery afternoon out delivering leaflets for
@DeanLockhartMSP
in Causewayhead - even had one lovely local resident run out after me to wish us good luck!
#PartyVoteTory
Breaking my self imposed Twitter ban to say I’m hugely excited to see Russell standing for leader.
His killer combo of vision and pragmatism is exactly what our party needs right now 🏴💪
In other news … I've decided to stand for leader of the Scottish Conservative & Unionist Party.
Change is coming in Scotland and I want us to lead it, as proud and passionate Conservatives.
More in today's Scottish Daily Mail 👇
It was great to meet
@LiamFox
today in Edinburgh!
Super interesting to hear his thoughts on how to protect the Union and the economy, and why he is
#Ready4Rishi
Great to be in Edinburgh talking to
@Conservatives
Party activists about the leadership contest. It is clear that they feel
@RishiSunak
is the candidate who understands most the nuances around the issues facing Scotland and the Union at the moment.
#Ready4Rishi
@Ready4Rishi
I obviously agree that kids in schools watching porn is bad, but as a techy gen-zer I could get past the controls suggested in about 3 seconds.
The best way to limit damage is much more robust sex ed and zero tolerance of sexual harassment in schools.
Hello Glasgow! 👋
Had a fab afternoon with Seven Days - my first (and hopefully not last!) time as a panellist.
You can watch us on BBC Scotland at 23:00 or on iPlayer for some great chat on everything from GPT-4 to the SNP leadership election!
The UK Government's decision to extend Horizon legislation to every nation in the UK except Scotland is scandalous. The fact the Tories are willing to use Scottish victims of the Royal Mail's Horizon system as a political football is unforgivable.
The PM must change course.
I’m no nationalist but the people being assholes about this need to take a long hard look at themselves.
It’s on all of us to keep our politics positive and productive. Congrats to Nicola on passing the theory test, I hope the practical test goes as smoothly 💪
Great to see the SNP embracing the full benefits of the Union and appointing an auditor based in Manchester.
We *all* benefit from the regulatory alignment and strong business relationships across the United Kingdom! 🇬🇧🏴
SNP confirms it has appointed AMS Accountants Group as the party's new auditors.
Humza Yousaf: "We take our statutory obligations extremely seriously, so it is welcome news that AMS Accountants Group will complete the accounts for both the party and the SNP Westminster group."
This is patronising rubbish 🙄
As a young person I get IDed for everything: medication, energy drinks, DIY stuff, cleaning products, booze, I could go on…
Most people under 25 carry ID around by default already, we have to!
The Voter ID policy is designed to stop young people voting.👇🏻
Don’t let them win!
To vote in May, sign up here for free ID before 24/4.
You will then be set up for the General Election whenever it comes. 👍🏻
Making universal decisions based on individual actions is literally how government operates.
We have speed limits because a few people drive too fast, competition laws because a few companies act irresponsibly, safeguarding rules because a few teachers abused pupils, etc, etc
Nicola Sturgeon's core point from today's Q&A, on the trans prisons row - "there is no other group in society where we accept that the actions of an individual somehow forms a justification for taking away rights from the whole group, or not according rights to that group"
The fact that I can go to the shop in February and buy a box of mango that someone else has cut up is insanely cool. 🥭
The fact that it costs less than an hour of minimum wage work is a miracle of modern capitalism. We are living lives our ancestors could not imagine.
The quickest way to solve UK economic stagnation would be to pass a law that automatically grants planning permission for another Heathrow runway any time a Lib Dem complains about plane sounds.
My drink was spiked last week, and it was one of the most terrifying experiences of my life.
Can you imagine the outrage if this many people were getting randomly poisoned in supermarkets?
The first networking event I went to I was 17 and painfully awkward, I still cringe thinking about it.
I now absolutely adore networking! It is just a skill like any other, and extremely satisfying once you start seeing improvements.
@ReemAmirIbrahim
@carbdiem
Proposition: "Networking" is not a skill, soft or otherwise; it's just a posh name for using personal favours as a bribe for privileged access to the graduate labour market.
Some personal news...
I’ve fledged the nest! There are still a lot of dust sheets and not a lot of furniture, but I’m so excited to make this wee flat my home. Anyone in Stirling please hit me up if you have any recommendations or would be up for a socially distanced walk!
Great time to plug something else in passionate about! Apprenticeships!
I was extremely fortunate to start my career in accounting at 17 - getting paid to learn is such a fantastic experience and I would encourage any other young person here to consider an apprenticeship!
On tonight’s
@STVNews
at Six 📺
What are young Conservative voters looking for in a new leader? And who are they backing for the top job?
We sit down with
@jessicainsall
&
@JohnWDWhite
to eat Conservative-cupcakes & discuss🧁

When you die, nobody is going to say "wow, he / she was SOO good at spreadsheets."
Start living your life and focus on the things that actually matter.
For any fellow young people in this situation: just delete it.
I deleted everything except Twitter and LinkedIn and it’s fine. If friends are worth keeping you will make it work.
A remarkable study. Most young people would prefer for themselves and their peers to not be on social media. In fact, they hate it so much that they'd be willing to pay to make this happen. But they are stuck on TikTok and Insta because everyone is on it.
Every time someone posts a wildly inaccurate inheritance tax calculation on here I die inside a little bit.
Please promise me you will all contact a tax professional if you ever have to file anything.
So excited to be running a (very hilly) 10km for the virtual kiltwalk to raise money for
@CR_UK
! I think we can all agree that the response to covid has highlighted the power of well funded science! 💪🧬
I’d really appreciate any donations or retweets!
@DanNeidle
Dan these articles are like accountant therapy! Very reassuring read after a long day of explaining to my clients that I can’t just make their tax magically disappear.
Great day out with the trusty spatula delivering leaflets in Strathblane for fantastic candidates who really understand rural communities.
Would be great to see Jane Hutchison elected as councillor for Forth & Endrick, and
@DeanLockhartMSP
as MSP for Stirling!
#PartyVoteTory
Guys really watch an hour of TikTok and assumes all of gen z are like that.
Log off the computer! Me and almost all my fellow gen-z friends are literally just normal people doing our jobs, laundry, and hobbies.
I sent an FOI to the police asking how long after an incident GHB can be detected in urine samples🕵🏻♀️
The answer…12 hours maximum!
If we are serious about getting justice for victims, rapid testing MUST be prioritised.
Was really poignant to be in the audience for this tonight - impressive chairing by
@ChrisMasonBBC
facilitated frank and respectful conversation on democracy and today’s tragic events.
#bbcaq
In Stirling to do
@BBCRadio4
#bbcaq
tonight. Paying tribute to a kind, gentle, friendly and passionate man who epitomised public service and always championed his constituency, David Amess. The Conservative family, and the whole political world, grieves tonight.
