A little 🧵about COVID: My family had an unpleasant surprise this week. My husband started feeling sick with fever and body aches. He got tested and surprise! He was positive for COVID, even though he’s fully vaccinated. He didn’t get that sick and is now mostly recovered.

Two weeks ago, 70 tenants lost their belongings and home when a Mount Pleasant apartment building was gutted by fire. The same landlord owned a Burnaby apartment building that had two serious fires - including one death - in 2009 and 2013.

Me, my husband and our older son are all fully vaccinated. Our younger son is under 12, so is unvaccinated. Public health now says that vaccinated close contacts don’t have to isolate, but we’ve decided to keep both kids home from school until the end of the quarantine period.
