GTAIV 15 years old! Bloody hell, time fliiiiiiieeeess by. Because the game was getting so detailed we artists (me, Anthony Macbain and Steven Olds) had to start painting the artwork with more detail and less black line.

TLAD logo design. I based it on old fashioned script hand writing found on mugshot photos from around early 1900s - the police recording name, date and crime of a villain on a police photo.

Esquire mag cover for Rockstar. Original painting had the hummingbird snorting coke from the flower. Esquire wanted that removed. One of the best parts of my job at Rockstar was the freedom to design non video-game lifestyle branding. Only brief was to capture the Rockstar vibe.

Rockstar lifestyle branding. Monolithic music machine powered by a dinosaur on a treadmill, and screams of workers being beaten. Music is played by the girl on piano and notes are sung by cats on the right. Main inspiration for this was Monty Python especially the animation.

Fresh from my hard drive. Ink sketch of Candy Suxx from the Vice City days. See the ink strokes too right? That’s where I was rolling the brush hair to form a perfect sharp point and even out the amount of ink on the brush, so I could paint those fine lines.

@PSRetro_ This is the first cover I painted back in ‘01. Little did I know how huge GTA would become!! After 9/11 I had to make a new cover for US, had to take out guns, fires etc. So I cut this cover up and put non-violent pics into black frames. That’s how the box grids on GTA came about

Probably the first RDR mag cover, showing the early original limited color style. We would paint the characters onto paper, using brushes or old fashioned scratch pens dipped into ink, scan to Photoshop, paint color, tidy the black lines and rough strokes, et voila!

My parents came to NYC in ‘05. Every ad space in Union Sq was filled with Warriors artwork. I think seeing all those paintings in such a huge space confirmed that letting me go to art school was a good idea, and a better idea than sending me off to the navy (when I was 16) .
