pups have arrived at Georgia Aquarium! Meet Gibson and Mara, the floofiest pups you've ever laid eyes on 😍 Get the scoop:
We’re deeply saddened to announce on Thursday afternoon we said goodbye to beloved sea otter, Oz. His health rapidly declined after several unexpected seizures he suffered Tuesday. Oz was an ambassador for his endangered species & will be deeply missed.💙
Our Asian small-clawed otters have tested positive for SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. They showed mild symptoms: sneezing, runny noses, lethargy, & coughing. We’re happy to report they’re doing well & expected to recover. They’re off exhibit & being cared for.
How adorable is this?! Whisper, a 20-year-old beluga whale at Georgia Aquarium, just welcomed a calf! Get to know the little one a little better:

At more than 300lbs and 6 feet in length, Shila is all spunk! This beluga calf is very bold and curious with her environment and has some pretty impressive swimming skills:
Warning: our social media team fainted from the impossible cuteness of this photo of Gibson. We are not responsible for it's effects on our followers.

calf is fiery and all spunk! Our animal care & health teams were excited to learn the sex during the calf’s first exam with momma Whisper by her side.
You can't handle the floof! Rescued sea otter pups Mara and Gibson met for the first time last week and we can't get enough of this duo 😍
#FloofPupdate
Shila is simply stunning.😍
Look closely and you’ll see the skin around her mouth is shedding – this is completely normal! All belugas are constantly shedding their skin – and it’s especially noticeable on a calf.
Mara and Gibson nom nom nomin' away! 🦦These two Southern sea otters were rescued over a year ago after being stranded near the California coastline. They have really made a home for themselves bonding with the other otters and their trainers!
Happy 1-month, Shila😊 Here are a few updates on this growing

Like mother like daughter 😍 Shila seems to enjoy tongue rubs, too!
Shila’s almost 2 months old & is discovering new things. She’s gotten more curious when mom Whisper interacts with our trainers & joins her to check out what they’re doing and take part in the playful session!

Check out some of our newest and cutest rescues, these sweet baby rays!✨These motoro rays came to Georgia Aquarium from confiscated illegal wildlife trafficking.
Even our sea otters are getting ready for Thanksgiving! Sea otters can eat upwards of 25% of their body weight, so this may be the perfect holiday for them. 😄
