During the Easter holidays we tore out our garden, so we could make a seating area and re-turf. In the intervening weeks this happened. It's just stunning
I googled bin collection day. I put the bin out in the pouring rain - the only one on the road. I had a moment of doubt. I now hear the bin lorry. I am winning at life!
Just listened to R4 - so Ofsted failed to see abuse of vulnerable young people in care homes - the same Ofsted who will judge safeguarding in my school? How can we have faith in this!

@kelechnekoff
So the race director found that the race director was allowed to interpret the rules in a way they have never been interpreted before - just beyond believable!
@kelechnekoff
I think Bernie Eccleston's comment about how Lewis should retire rather than take over Schumacher's record - that was the point I thought this won't be allowed to happen
After the longest year of my 22 in education I've made it! I didn't celebrate being appointed vice principal but I'm celebrating getting to the end of the year as vice principal. Positive vibes to all those still going - nearly there!
@jonsopel
@RishiSunak
Maybe because he is on holiday with his children, just before the anniversary of the death of his mother and his gran. Maybe he wants to watch it a home with his daughter?
Morning

already dropped the eldest off for a flight, walked the dog and discovered the OH and youngest took the bacon camping! Poached egg on toast it is then. Very much going to be a slow day today. Enjoy
@CensoredHead
Yep - 'we' ll follow the science until we don't like the science and then we'll pretend that we know more than people who've studied this their entire careers' or words to that effect
@llewelyn20
Well, if they were inspecting their own safeguarding they should have followed up this call several days later to check action had been taken - sounds like an inadequate response to me!
@Blakesleybird
@KirstieMAllsopp
Why do schools need to lead? I’m a parent and a teacher. I alone am responsible for educating my child about their smart phone - I put it in their hands. School can support and provide help but what I can’t do as a teacher is make up for a parent who fails to parent their child
Don't even know where to start with this headline from the Daily Fail. 'Be careful women, know your place' appears to be the message. As a 'high flying' woman myself it's just ridiculous that this tragedy has been reduced to this
Unexpected moments of joy - came to make my coffee this morning to find the OH had left this. Each day has a little message. Just what was needed this morning
Morning

feeling emotional this morning -difficult session with CAMHs, then found out my uncle had died. This job doesn't always allow the space to work in a 'less than' mode that others do to allow some time to pause. so here's a cat to cheer me up
Morning folks - taking a few moments to let the dust settle after what was an emotional day yesterday. Today it's a celebration lunch for them before the football while I carry on my celebrations. And being a new headteacher - you need new notebooks right?
Morning
#teacher5oclockclub
new times in our house as the OH resigned from teaching yesterday - another one burnt out by a system. Needing positive words from those who've left and thrived - all feels unsettling
Morning
@PaulGarvey4
beginning the last leg of our trip today. Have been spoilt by locations but my highlight was swimming in this lake in Yosemite. No filter needed.

decision made yesterday to close today due to the forecast. So a strange morning. Will set my work and then use the bonus day to clear some tasks. Then maybe enjoy a bit of snow with the dog, before more work in front of the fire.
Morning
#teacher5oclockclub
yesterday was a difficult day. I think increasingly what pastoral staff are being asked to do is so far away from educational support. It's draining and at the moment it feels like there is no slowing up. So a big shout out to those pastoral heroes
Morning

running race for life in memory of an amazing young person who lived life to the fullest. Today is about being in the moment, and enjoying every single second of it because life can turn on a six pence. So take a second to breathe and enjoy the sun

if you could arrange for schools to be properly funded and hungry children fed then maybe school leaders could focus on school improvement rather than supporting families because there is no one else to support them

#TinyVoiceTalks
vice principal about all things safeguarding, pastoral and inclusion. Trying so hard to switch off from work - it's a struggle! Planning some days of r'n'r to help. For those already gone back - enjoy!
4 years ago the police told me someone I loved and trusted had betrayed my family and I in the worst way. I think of the experience of these 4 years as a scar. Yesterday I made my scar a sign of healing to remind me each day I have survived.

off to the butchers for 7am. No one told me adulting involved so many 7am starts! Then a day of wrapping, preparing, fire and reading. Enjoy this time folks, it precious
I've seen posts of people out running this morning. I know I won't be able to run during the week for the next 6 months. Not because I can't be bothered but because I don't want to go out in the dark on my own. How have we got to the stage that women are scared to go out?
Sat in bed, contemplating the fact that my eldest is 18 today. I can remember sitting cuddling her in hospital 18 years ago. Time really does fly. Lunch and cocktails on the menu today. Every 18 year old deserves cocktails on their birthday
Morning
#teacher5oclockclub
. Last day for me today. So very tired, but Xmas jumpers and beige buffet await. This year has been monumental - going to take a while to de-stress. To those with another day to go - almost there folks!
Morning
#teacher5oclockclub
yesterday was one to forget. Trying to get my mojo back for today so that today's doesn't slip away. It's also mental health awareness week - check in with people, ask them twice. I think we are programmed to pretend everything is fine
Morning
#teacher5oclockclub
it's going to be a long Tuesday. Finishing the day with governors and every minute in between has something to do. Might have accidentally started listening to Xmas tunes, with Xmas lights last night so truly embracing the winter/darkness feel.
Morning folks - I officially count this as my first day of the hols. A day of 'maintenance' gym, hair, facial so I should feel truly relaxed by the end of it. Also hoping to fit in some reading as well - my target for the hols is get my reading mojo back.
Morning
#teacher5oclockclub
lots of stuff keeping me awake. Transition day to look forward to, other difficult stuff to navigate, everything feels so high stakes at the moment, not sure there will be enough left in the tank to get the weekend, let alone the end of term!
Morning folks - can't say I've slept, but I've rested. Already my head is fizzing with a million things to be done today. Once I'm in school I'm sure everything will click into place - Summer 1 let's get this underway
Morning
#teacher5oclockclub
it's mum duty today - youngest due to be minus an appendix in a couple of hours. So lucky to have great colleagues who have swept in and sorted today for me. Although I'll do some remote stuff - it's my coping mechanism! Need coffee for sure
Morning
#teacher5oclockclub
been a little absent. Got some stuff going on. Being strong for everyone is quite tiring, and the new cat has escaped. Just wanted to say check on those who are supporting those who are struggling with mental health - it's sometimes a lonely place
My dad with The Queen. He organised the 50th anniversary celebrations of the Battle of the Atlantic in Liverpool. Showed it to the youngest today. She's now in awe of her grandad and desperate to ask him questions. I'm sure he'll oblige her
Morning
#teacher5oclockclub
beyond frustrated yesterday with external factors. All I can say is austerity and the last 13 years have failed and school feels like the last service standing. Anyway, we go again, lots to do today, so we'll move forward. Enjoy Tuesday
Morning
#teacher5oclockclub
unexpectedly tough day yesterday. Safeguarding is so challenging sometimes - the decision-making is so difficult and it can feel a very lonely place. Today is a new day. Resilience is definitely needed - along with coffee
Morning. I realised why I love where I work last night. It was prom. The green flower is a student from the year group who we sadly lost, the yellow flower from last year's group. The kids make these so their friends are always with them. That's love.

1st Monday of Summer 2 - stright back into a full day of meeting and teaching. Definitely going to be a full on term - lots going on so self-care will be the thing this term. Have a great Monday!
Morning
#teacher5oclockclub
yesterday was unexpectedly long due to a safeguarding issue - home after 7pm. So already feeling jaded and today looks already jam-packed. Hoping Tuesday brings better levels of productivity than yesterday
Morning
#teacher5oclockclub
2 more days to go and hopefully it'll all go smoothly. Got some time today to actually tidy my desk - the old office is looking somewhat chaotic at the moment! Hope everyone has a good Thursday
Morning
#teacher5oclockclub
up and kind of ready for the day. Feels very dark and very early. Think it's all meetings to navigate today, but some tricky stuff as well, along with pondering the latest on attendance as well. Hope everyone has a fab Monday
Morning
#teacher5oclockclub
let's see what Friday has to offer. Maybe snow? Many meetings? Definitely teaching. I'm sure lots of other fun. I'm proper tired today. This short term packs a punch . 1st March brings hope of lighter and brighter days . Just Friday to survive!
Morning
#teacher5oclockclub
today is absolutely rammed so definitely need to make sure I find some little pockets of time. Then a lovely outdoor swim to end the day. Hope everyone has a good day
Morning
#teacher5oclockclub
absolutely shattered today. Planning on leaving early today to make up for yesterday. This morning is full on, then some space to catch up with myself. Hoping the rain stays away as well - bit too soon for us all to be cooped up in a building all day
Morning
#teacher5oclockclub
more time acting up this week. Parents eve tonight with a speech to parents - no pressure! Going to have to cancel a few things to fit everything all in this week. Still 2 weeks to go for us so each day needs to count. Have a great Monday
Morning
#teacher5oclockclub
woke to the sounds of Alexa, so I know I have an alarm. Don't have the usual Sunday dread yet - is it because I know the big O can't ring this week - we spend a lot of time carrying the mental health of others - looking after yourself is important
Morning
#teacher5oclockclub
the rain is pouring. Going to be a long day. Another day at the helm - definitely tired. Doing 2 jobs is proving tough. But will do it as well as I can. For those breaking up - yay. For us, another week. Whichever - enjoy!
Morning
#teacher5oclockclub
long day yesterday but parents evening is always lovely to share how well young people are doing. Today is another busy day, and I've actually possibly committed to too much. It'll all be 'reyt' as they say. Enjoy the sunshine
Morning
#teacher5oclockclub
another week - some of it at the helm. Think I need to channel my inner Picard. A LEAD day for us. Lots going on so it always feels hectic, but it's always worth it. Let's get Monday started
Morning
#teacher5oclockclub
another hot day on the cards. Back to back meetings this am then teaching all afternoon. Hoping to get home and enjoy a cool walk with the puppy and then it's nearly the weekend. Enjoy Wednesday
Morning
#teacher5oclockclub
so hot last night! All the storms missed us. Going to be a hot day today. Lots to do and then welcoming out trust team for safeguarding to school today for our meeting this term. Have a lovely day everyone
Morning
#teacher5oclockclub
had a rubbish night's sleep because of an Ofsted dream - they came in October!! So shake this off the dog and I are off and adventure later. I am not a confident rambler and have no sense of direction - what could possibly go wrong! Enjoy Saturday
Morning
#teacher5oclockclub
I'm on snow watch - apparently it's snowing up the road. It should all be fine but it's an added stress. Busy day ahead, wrestling with spreadsheets - not my skillset - and other meetings and teachings. Have a great Tuesday
Morning folks - proper tired after prom but it was a lovely night. Also celebrating the eldest getting a 1st in politics in the week of a general election is pretty damn cool. Another long day with govs tonight - going to need some caffeine to keep me going today
Morning
#teacher5oclockclub
it's proper frosty! Definitely a day for extra layers. Every day at the minute feels like a bit of a challenge - everyone is tired so it's even more important to look after your pastoral colleagues - often on the 'front line' big shout out to them!
Morning folks - summer 2 - and sort of my first day in charge. A good mix of nerves and energy this morning. Job 1 is to figure out the diary for the next 7 weeks - gonna be a busy one! Hope everyone feels refreshed after a week's rest. Have a great Monday
Morning
#teacher5oclockclub
Friyay. Utterly exhausted. Need the energy to meet my safeguarding governor and then teach back to back 3 lessons. I love my job but sometimes it leaves you so depleted. Heading out for a swift half after with me scouse beastie - it's all good
Morning folks - wednesday. Teaching first then some planning and prep for next year. Making the decisions rather than feeding into them is a scary space to be in but also exciting. Need to remember to keep coming back to principals. Then hopefully time to enjoy the sunshine
Morning
#teacher5oclockclub
tired. Yesterday was manic as I brought a new definition to the concept of multi-tasking! And I forgot to have a drink during the day so paid for that with a headache! Must do better today, while watching the weather tomorrow -did someone say snow?
Morning
#teacher5oclockclub
tired and cold this morning. Productive day yesterday -got a day weighted to teaching this morning and a couple of meetings. The to-do list is already piling up. Today's target is to to see daylight - didn't manage it yesterday!
Morning
#teacher5oclockclub
so tired. It been a roller coaster of a week but so glad, much as I love my job, in 10 hours I can have a rest. I think the phrase is 'as wrung out as a dishcloth'. Enjoy Friday
Morning folks. Posted yesterday about how I was feeling in a moment, maybe hoping for some solidarity. Ended up feeling judged. Twitter is a strange place. So on a wet Wednesday here's some cats - judge away
Morning
#teacher5oclockclub
who needs an alarm when there's a storm raging outside. Glad I don't need to drive to school. Off out later with a mate for a bottom brunch, what could possibly go wrong! For those still in school, we salute you!
Morning
#teacher5oclockclub
Wednesday - no doubt it will be busy with the wind and the rain. Still at the helm, and thinking about impressive leaders in film and TV. Today a bit of imposter syndrome to work through but if nothing else I've got the hair for this one
Morning
#teacher5oclockclub
the end of the longest short term ever! Youngest is back home and on the mend. The weather sounds like the worst autumn day ever! Just gotta get through 8 hours and then definitely sleeping a long time - this week has caught up with me.
Don't drink much these days but definitely earnt this. Cheers to Storm Babet which made me close school just before midday - 2 hours to get buses away, waiting for last pick ups an hour later and then an hour's stressful drive home and it's still raining!
Morning folks - definitely Tuesday! This weekend felt like a luxury. Lots to do this week - including first 2 big meetings as a psuedo-headteacher, and then govs to end the day. Gonna be a long one, so extra food and snacks packed.
Morning
#teacher5oclockclub
the weekend is in sight but today is full on. We have our annual CRY screening for Y11s and lots of other things as well . I need to remember I'm teaching. I'm sure I'll forget something along the way!
Morning
#teacher5oclockclub
finally the end of Jan! Brighter times to come hopefully. Today's jobs allow for a bit more thinking time and time to do the list of jobs from the last 2 days! Then maybe leaving work in daylight for a nice walk with the dog . Enjoy wednesday folks
Morning
#teacher5oclockclub
end of a busy week, with a busy day. Also thinking if I was Education sec I'd definitely look at the role of DSL - the responsibility for out of school as well as in is huge. So check in on your DSLs today - it's a tough job. And it's a Friday!
Morning
#teacher5oclockclub
Tuesday is rammed! Meetings and lots of teachings plus assembly and a lunch meeting! Going to put some breaks in my diary for next week, but until then it's busy! Today is also about work experience - I bet eurocamp still miss me!
Morning folks - week 3 - hoping for something less frenetic but I guess the last week before GCSEs is unlikely to be so! Some meetings today and parents evening tonight so long day to start the week. Looks like the weather might be improving - I really hope so
Morning
#teacher5oclockclub
it's finally stopped raining, and after a very blustery night in the tent it sounds and feels a bit calmer! Hoping to get out with Denzel and the OH today. Denzel is very much enjoying his first holiday. Enjoy Thursday
Morning - feel like I've pretty much slept for the last 24 hours - how does school do this to you?! Anyway today, currently an overwhelming need to deep clean the house from top to bottom and do some clearing out . Let's see how I get
