Yes yes yes. This is a topic rarely discussed and much needed. You can’t give from an empty cup or eventually burn out will happen.
We’re graded by records but we need more support and also learn how to rest and recover.

Currently experiencing burnout for the first time in my career. Regaining my strength, battling mental fatigue and re-orienting myself to self-care has been a task. Would’ve been great to have support. We need to address issues not only with student-athletes, but coaches as well.

We address it in many of our episodes. I’m very intentional about it via the line of questions. However, it cannot be overstated how important the mental health of leadership is in the profession.

This is a conversation that's being had, but the right people don't always listen to us. Also, unfortunately, sport (especially competitive sport) is still often a place where it's difficult to have these conversations with people who are responding in good faith.

There a mental health fighters for coaches and numerous studies that touch the ideas of burnout, work-related stress, health effects etc., needs to be in the forefront of mental health topics in sports.

This is so important!!! We have to do a better job with this as a community. For our athletes and coaches. The coaching burnout is too high because we don’t put enough emphasis on this !!
