Roughly half of all car trips in Los Angeles are 3 miles or less. If people feel safe biking, walking or rolling from one place to another, Angelenos can reduce their dependency on cars (and reduce costs, traffic & emissions).
We're headed through Chinatown, Mariachi Plaza, MacArthur Park, and the Civic Center for CicLAvia–Heart of LA on our birthday, Sunday, October 10!

When we open streets in LA (by briefly 'closing' them to cars), we're still amazed how quickly & smoothly everyone adapts to traveling by foot, by skate, by bike. Our free pedicabs carry as many ppl as a car would, take up less space, and pose no danger to cyclists & pedestrians.
The most important thing about this amazing Paris transformation is how fast it happened — how fast people on bikes “appeared” — once streets were transformed. You can’t write this off as “Paris was always this way,” because it wasn’t.
It took leadership.
