This is a national emergency, firms of all sizes are telling us they are not ready for a 'No-deal' Brexit, we have got to find a way forward that protects livelihood and jobs of ordinary people.
The Canada deal was designed for two countries this far apart in terms of trade, to bring them closer together. For two parties already aligned as the UK & EU are, it would be disaster, moving us further apart.

The Brexit deal might not be perfect but respects the result of referendum, it is a compromise but it does 3 key things:
1⃣ It takes no deal off the table
2⃣It opens up a pathway to frictionless trade
3⃣It allows us to get back to the domestic priorities that really matter
Labour is in absolute agreement on 3 great challenges within CBI’s Programme for Prosperity - skills, inequality, climate change.

Our country is facing a national emergency. Decisions of recent days have caused the risk of no deal to soar. Firms and communities across the UK are not ready for this outcome. The shock to our economy would be felt by generations to come.
The immigration system today will leave firms in some sectors left wondering how they will recruit the people needed to run their business. With low unemployment, firms in care, construction, hospitality, food and drink could be most affected.

The UK currently benefits from extensive trade agreements as an EU member, spanning 70 countries. If the UK leaves with a no-deal, these exports risk having immediate tariffs imposed overnight, potentially costing the East of England economy millions of pounds in lost orders.
