George Best was in great form at the start of the 1971/72 season. I’m sure you’ve seen all these clips, but always worth a watch. p.s only allowed short vids on here!

George Best was in fine form on A Question of Sport in 1999. Here’s a couple of clips alongside John Parrott, Jenny Pitman, Ally McCoist, Sue Barker, Dickie Bird, and old pal Ilie Nastase.

George Best. Hopefully there will be a couple of clips in here that you won’t have seen. Enjoy it!

This all took a while so a coffee would be appreciated! 😉
Not George Best related, but we’ve had a great couple of days at Old Trafford. We saw Kenny Dalglish who was there signing the book of condolence for Sir Bobby. He stopped for a chat with Jude and a picture, a class act.

I have been after this for years! A frame of snooker from 1987 between Steve Davis and George Best. George plays well and knock a few in here. Full frame is on the link thanks to Billy Whicher for the excellent youtube channel.

Love this clip from February 1982. A few former greats given an ovation at Old Trafford. Sir Matt, Johnny Carey, Jack Rowley, Stan Pearson, Tony Dunne, Pat Crerand, George Best, and Bobby Charlton.

August 1991 and George Best entertains Old Trafford for the last time, the charity game before Sir Matt’s testimonial. Full video is here- Thanks to

George Best. After the last tweet I received messages asking how fast he was.. Here’s a good example of his speed and balance, against Huddersfield in 1971. Great play by Willie Morgan and the finish by Denis Law.

George Best never won BBC Sports personality of the year, the closest he came was 1971 when he finished second to Princess Anne... though the following year he did get this shout out from Muhammad Ali.

George Best and Bobby Charlton. For a couple of year it was frosty between them, the rest of the time there was total respect. Simply put, Sir Bobby was one of the greatest footballers to have ever played the game.

Because I’ve been asked about the tackles George Best and others received every week in those days, here’s a quick 3 examples you may not have seen from the 71-72 season. Southampton and Spurs in the league and Southampton in the FA Cup. It wasn’t all fun.

George Best. Not a ‘rare’ match, but often overlooked. Spain 3 Northern Ireland 0. It was from 1970, and here’s a bit of Bestie to cheer you all up!

George Best: Scoring the winner against Newcastle following death threats, chopped down after a bit of skill against Nottingham Forest, and as a bonus I’m sure you’ve all seen his 6 goals against Northampton so here’s a couple of other bits from that game. Cheers.

I took the wife and young un to Old Trafford today. His first time and he said he loved it! Did all the touristy things, plus paid respects to Sir Bobby.

George Best. Some clips you might not have seen (how do I know!).. Couple of shots against Leeds and Man City, at The Cliff with Barry John, dribbles against Northampton, Chelsea, and Crystal Palace, rarely shown goals v Huddersfield and West Ham.

George Best. Three more clips here, the first one where George ends up flat on his face graced the beginning of Match of the Day in the early 70s… The other two are just 100% skill.

Football 50 years ago-The players were not as fit as now, the pitches were sometimes awful, the kits were plain, boots were basic, crowd safety wasn’t really thought of, yet I still prefer it every time to nowadays. I’m stuck in 1970, and I’m happy here!
