If you live in Dublin Bay North this leaflet will be coming in your door soon.
I’m voting
@shanefolan
No. 1.
Our local TD should be hard-working, compassionate & decent.
Shane is all those things & more.
I’ve known him for 15 years & he is the change we need.
#ShaneIsChange
There’s a time for politics & a time to echo the sentiments of an Irish leader on the international stage speaking with compassion & decency.
We should expect no less of an Irish leader given our history but it should be applauded none the less.

If your response to the
#SarahEverard
case is to say
#notallmen
then you’re part of the problem.
Do we really have to raise our daughters to be careful to walk home at night? Because they might get murdered?
This is a man problem. We need to own it, challenge it and change it.
Friend of mine was spat at on the day of the Marriage Equality referendum in 2015.
Right in his face.
He married his boyfriend today.
Hope that cheers you all up on a wet Monday in October.

We’ve a TD who objected to the minute silence for George Floyd.
Another TD who says asylum seekers need to be deprogrammed.
Another called them free-loaders, blackguards & hoodlums
Another said they’re here to sponge off the system.
@eamonryan
isn’t the problem.
Lads...
You don't want to be that guy in years to come...
With a distraught woman in your arms...
Knowing that when you had the chance to help her...
You voted no...
Or didn't vote at all.
It might be your wife, your girlfriend, your sister, your daughter.
Vote yes on Friday.
For every social advance in Ireland, the No side always said the sky would fall in.
But the sky would fall in if you were pregnant and you didn't want to be - because of the 8th amendment.
Take a stand for the women that we love on May 25th.

Teacher-bashing over re-opening of schools is pretty ridiculous.
How many of these voices have been campaigning for lower class sizes or increased investment in education over the years?
Teachers often step in when society lets a child down. Let’s have some perspective please.
For the love of....
Dear 🇬🇧:
The. Backstop. Was. Your. Idea.
There. Will. Be. No. Change. To. What. You. Already. Agreed. To.
The. Backstop. Is. Not. Going. To. Be. Changed.
Good. Luck.

“I think it’s been a very positive day… What today has shown is there is a majority for the prime minister’s deal plus some changes to the backstop,” says Liz Truss, chief secretary to the Treasury, adding that it is "a significant way forward”

Jesus Christ.
I’m so tired of this.
The country is deeply wounded and scared with a mountain of problems and you’re playing more stupid political games.
Please get out of your student politics mode and start working for the Irish people.
This is a good read. He is correct and I was wrong. The party currently called Sinn Féin in the Dáil was indeed created in 1970 not 1971. It has no meaningful connection to the Rising or War of Independence. That’s just made up. Cue bots... via

I’m voting yes because, as a man, there is no medical procedure unavailable to me to protect my life or my health.
I want the same for women.

A heartfelt thank you to the people of Dublin Bay North who have chosen me as one of their representatives in Dáil Éireann.
Thanks to my campaign team who’ve been with me every step of the last four years.
Onwards. 🌹

Unfortunately
@johnredwood
just cut short an interview on Irish radio as he didn’t like the line of questioning. The arrogance and indifference of hard Brexiteers to the real fears of others never ceases to amaze.
@TodaySOR
This disappointing document confirms that this negotiation does not deliver Brexit, and does not give us control of our laws, money and borders, any time soon, with the risk that it might never properly do so.
She’s 105 years old - and she’s voted yet again in the Presidential election . Meet Ireland’s oldest voter Nancy Stewart from Clonard county Meath speaking to

For those of us who want to see a United Ireland in our lifetime, the sight of people marching in balaclavas and others throwing bottles at police vans makes that possibility less likely.
I hope they might learn that.
Delighted to welcome Sadhbh O’Reardon-Byrne to the world.
Little sister for Anna & beautiful daughter for me & mammy Nicola.
Life can certainly surprise.
Just when you think you’ve lost more than you can cope with, a ray of sunshine arrives.
Is grá linn thú a stór. Go deo.
Just to remind undecided voters that we as a Republic turned our backs on a 12 year old pregnant rape victim last year because of the 8th amendment.
Could you tell a 12 year old in your life that she has no choice?
If that makes you ashamed then you must vote yes.
#Repealthe8th
Thanks to everyone for their support over the last few days.
When I was small I remember my hand being too tiny to fit in his so I used to hold his finger instead.
He was the biggest person in the world to me then & he always will be.
Rest in Peace Dad.
Driving back from Athlone listening to Bruce Springsteen’s “We take care of our own” and my mind is awash with emotion.
To hell with 1980s Ireland.

I’ve worked in the public service for 22 years as a teacher, principal & Oireachtas member.
Every single work day has begun with a prayer.
Whenever I raised it I was always told it was a trivial matter.
But it goes to the heart of what a Republic is, as does the NMH debate.
I understand that schools have not as yet received official notification from the Department of Education that they are not to open on Monday.
This really is government by press release.
No plan since last school lockdown
Jan 6 announcement made with no consultation
Jan 13 announcement made with no agreement
Jan 15 school letter sent with no agreement
No hands-on engagement from Ministers
No schedule for priority vaccination
Now spinning against unions?
Unthinkable that Irish politicians would attend US Ambassadors’s July 4th reception in Dublin while images such as these are transmitted around the world.
I’ll be hosting briefing for Oireachtas members with
@USVisaLawyer
on Wednesday on situation.
Time for another

Tánaiste, this invitation is unnecessary, unwelcome and unwise.
We have an historic & moral responsibility to stand for something internationally.
An invite to this most decredited of American presidents is an insult to the values of most Irish people.
#IrishStand
President Trump will visit Ireland in November. The US President is always welcome in Ireland. Our two countries have such strong historic, economic, cultural and family ties. Maintaining those connections is always a top priority 🇺🇸🇮🇪🇪🇺
An irresponsible headline designed to wind people up.
Sex education is complex & sensitive. Those engaged in making it relevant & successful for young people are balancing many things.
The area deserves greater respect than a sensationalist characterisation such as this.

“SNAs did their bit to ensure that schools opened up from 11th February on the basis that, among other safeguards, they would be prioritised for vaccines."
@apike1
Lots of troubling scenes and ugly language used over the last number of months.
We need to remember who we are and what we have been through.
We’re better than this.
Israel ordered Palestinians to move to Rafah. Now they are burning them alive. Including babies.
Israeli is governed by a blood-thirsty administration that no body count of children will shame.
We need an absolute boycott of the Israeli state. Now.
I’ve been making the case to phase out single gender schools for many years now.
We’ve introduced a bill that would end single-gender school within 10 years at primary level & 15 years at second-level.
Creating contrived environments to separate children serve no purpose.
So grateful to
@UCDSU
for producing these powerful posters.
If you’re undecided please ask yourself:
Could you look a woman or girl in the eye & tell her she should have no option?
That she must continue with her pregnancy against her will?
If you couldn’t then vote yes.
Remember these arguments?
Divorce? Bye, bye daddy.
Contraception? Will lead to promiscuity.
Decriminalisation of Homosexuality? Will lead to Jamie Bolger case here.
X Case legislation: Women will pretend to be suicidal.
Children’s Rights: ‘Austerity man’ will take your kids.
I’ve just called
@alankellylabour
to congratulate him on his election as leader of the
@labour
party.
I can’t thank my campaign team & my family enough for their support over the last few weeks.
Time now to unite and work together for our great party and our country.
🌹
Credit where credit is due.
The only reason we’re not waking up to images of far-right protests and violence is because of effective policing work over the last number of weeks by
@gardainfo
.
We can be quick to criticise them, only fair that we praise them too.
Within two hours the message from govt has changed from “there is no reason to close schools” to “we’ll make a decision on Wednesday”.
Doesn’t breed confidence.
This has now spiralled completely out of control.
Minister was allowed move on from a comment last week when describing non SEN students as ‘normal’.
Now there is comparisons with Mother and Baby Homes.
Taoiseach needs to intervene before more damage is done.
Just now on
@TodaywithClaire
, I mean I thought I was hearing things, but
@josephamadigan
just compared concerned teachers to - and bear with me on this one - mother and baby homes...
Can open. Worms everywhere.
Hearing reports of minority of schools enforcing unreasonable uniform policies while students are in cold classrooms.
For example: demanding girls wear skirts at school is outdated practice - demanding it in current circumstances is ridiculous.
Time for some common sense.
This is how you engage with someone you don’t agree with.
Politics is important. This has been the hardest election I’ve ever fought. Criticism is fine - abuse isn’t.
We can all do better.
Have just had enough of this fraud.
READ SOME HISTORY
@Jacob_Rees_Mogg
!
Start with WW2 (the reason for the founding of the EU) and then have a go at Northern Irish history from the 60s to today.
Then read the Good Friday Agreement.
Then cop yourself on.
With 50% of students opting not to sit the written Irish paper it’s clear we have a problem.
@labour
are advocating for at least one year in every primary school to be taught exclusively through Irish.
Time to think radically about the future of the language.
COVID isolation is offering me this:
1pm Dublin V Donegal (TG4)
2.15 Wales V Italy (RTÉ)
4.45 Ireland V Scotland (VM)
5.15 Boro V Chelsea (BBC)
5.45 Tyrone V Mayo (RTÉ)
6pm Bohs V Wexford (LOITV)
7pm Athlone V Shels (LOITV)
8pm France V England (RTÉ)
What do I do until 1pm? 🤔
Me & 5 year old daughter’s chat just now about going to the Dubs game today.
Her: is it the boys or the girls?
Me: The girls.
Her: I like when it’s the girls cos I can pretend it’s me playing.
Me: I KNOW!
Her: Will you come to my matches when I’m older?
Me: ❤️

Robbed.
Absolutely robbed.
Maybe some of the ‘experts’ on here who support English teams & wouldn’t be able to tell Tolka Park from Tayto Park will finally give Stephen Kenny some credit.
Incredibly proud of that side.
#COYBIG
Part of a non-violent struggle.
Unlike the IRA who once bombed a bus of schoolgirls that included
@DUPleader
Arlene Foster.
Non-violence leads to understanding, empathy & healing.
Violence leads to entrenchment and bitterness.
You reap what you sow.
No we absolutely don’t welcome the
@vp
here Ambassador.
His administration is now internationally reknowned for sowing division and spewing hateful xenophobic rhetoric.
Pence is a disgrace to his Irish immigrant past.
#IrishStand
Hate to comment as someone from Dublin, but on trips to Newry as a child we were ‘welcomed’ by British soldiers armed to the teeth inspecting documentation etc.
Was that not a hard border?
@DearbhailDibs
help me out here?
Arlene Foster states “as someone who lived through the troubles we never had a hard border in Ireland”.
Extraordinary, disingenuous assertion that will come as news to many.
Constituent tell me there is a 35 month waiting list for the intervention her 6 year old child needs.
35 months is 3 years.
He’ll be seen when he is 9 years old.
We can’t go ‘back to normal’ when ‘normal’ is the problem.
It has come to my notice that Ukrainian refugee teachers are being charged €390 to register with the
@TeachingCouncil
.
Given the urgent need for language support in our schools for Ukrainian children, I have written to the Education Minister asking for this fee to be waived.
Have been thinking about this all day. Taking due process into account, I’m absolutely aghast that the captain of the national rugby side thought it appropriate to attend this trial.
IRFU have to respond, as this is an utter disgrace.
#RoryBest
For those who never lost the faith over 35 years.
For our daughter Anna who is now a full and equal citizen in our Republic.
Thank you for all the campaigners across the country who have done this for her and every Irish girl and woman.

Fairly disgusting performance by Israeli Ambassador to Ireland Ophir Kariv on
@RTENewsAtOne
.
At what point do we decide that we've had enough? The next massacre?
Israeli Defence Minister says: "We don't need moral lessons from other countries."
They do from Ireland.
This is bang out of order.
Ireland is a democracy where politicians are accessible and freely mingle with the people.
This is cowardly nonsense.
If this is your way of expressing your viewpoint, you need to reassess your argument.
I’ve spent 20 years working with SNAs as a teacher, a principal and a politician.
These are workers who change lives every day but are treated with incredible disrespect.
They stand apart in this debate and deserve support in this campaign.

Taoiseach, Tánaiste & host of Ministers at today’s game.
Ireland’s first home loss to England in 60 yrs. We’d better get used to it if funding doesn’t change.
Outside of San Marino & Liechtenstein, no side has fallen more in FIFA rankings in the last 20 yrs than Ireland.
This happens because the international community allow it to happen.
No country gets more of free pass for flouting international law than Israel.
Nine children are dead.
These scenes will be repeated for another fifty years until the world says stop.
