I can no longer stand idly by and allow this behavior to represent my community and our city. I am taking the steps to hit the pavement hard again and run for New York City Council CD18.
My 9 yr old brother: “Look at the croissant moon”
Me and my mom: “the what?!”
Him confidently: “the croissant moon, it’s shaped like a croissant”
Me: “you mean crescent”
Him: “same thing”
LOL
How is it that the Community Board I reside in just blocked me on Twitter? For no reason I may add.
Is it because the District Manager is running in the race for CD18 and is using community board resources and time for politics?
Sus.
Yesterday I was sworn into the
@NYCCouncil
to serve as Council Member for the 18th City Council District!
I’m so grateful to have this opportunity. Just a kid from the block now representing us in City Hall. So surreal and I’m ready to work for the people of
#CD18

This fire is tragic
Ultimately, our communities have been begging for years for this city to show up for them
Updating our infrastructure in buildings like heating systems, elevators, removing mold etc ain’t new issues
This came from a space heater, a need for adequate warmth.
New Council Member Orientation complete! 💁🏻♀️
Feeling a lot of emotions today - humble, grateful, excited, anxious, committed, among the few - but mostly READY.
Ready to represent Council District 18 in 2022 in City Hall!

I’ve spent the last decade investing in the same community that invested in me—that’s why I’m running to represent District 18 in the NYC Council.
I know that no issue is too big to solve when you have the community in your corner—& I’m in yours.

, without telling me you’re from the bronx.
Me: Nameplate with my new title 💁🏻♀️

I keep getting compliments on this and wanted to share the best gift from my brother 💗
I spent over 3yrs in job training for prev incarcerated ppl, immigrants, District 75 students, older adults & many more - there is no such thing as “unskilled labor”
What we lack is opportunity & investments where ppl can cont to grow in the workforce
That shit hit my gut
I will say again, we should not allow the Board of Elections to be hired by the BPs and electeds of each borough.
How can a system that is supposed to be democratic and unbiased work that way when by moment of hire they are brought in under pretense.
Democratic source says
@MelindaKatz
is AHEAD of
@CabanForQueens
by 20 votes.
Final count has now been completed, including absentee ballots and affidavits.
This will likely trigger a full recount.
I am so proud to announce we have won the Democratic Primary! I am humbled by the love, support & energy behind our race that’s led to this moment. We have fought for this bc
#CD18
deserves it & they showed up.
I can’t say it enough, but THANK YOU!
Statement in photos.

Really happy NYC Comptroller Democratic Nominee
@bradlander
came out to visit and learn more about

Excited to work together for The Bronx and our City.
After he loses tonight, repugnant homophobe Ruben Diaz Sr. can still run for re-election to the NYC Council.
@AmandaFariasNYC
ran competitively against him last time and is running again. Let's make sure she puts Diaz in the ash heap of history in 2021.
Today we stood at City Hall announcing our endorsement of Rep.
@AOC
’s
@CouragetoChange
PAC as the First Choice Candidate for CD18!
I’m looking forward to working w/ this slate to make our city more equitable in our fight for transparency, affordable housing & climate action.
Talking about progressive change in
#TheBronx
isnt enough, it’s about doing the work with fighters for change.
I am proud to receive the endorsement of
@SenatorBiaggi
.
Together we are going to fight for all our communities, workers, students & seniors.
After my team & I spent the week counting absentee & affidavit ballots at the BOE & with last night's RCV results, we are confident in our lead.
Thank you to all those who placed their trust in me, our campaign & our people-powered movement - I can't wait to work
#ForThePeople

I just want to remind everyone that there will be one more budget that this body votes on before 2021 candidates get in.
Meaning 2021 candidates-elect will come in on a budget in 2022 and have to negotiate one for FY23.
We have to hold their feet to the fire.
When your Sergeant-at-Arms saw that you’re a plant person and comes to Stated with a cutting from a plant from his town in PR for you 😍🥰
It’s the Tío energy for me 🌿
This is a reminder of what I’m up against in the community.
This entire message is shameful.
I’ll always choose black community members lives over the NYPD.
I'm thrilled to announce that I'll be serving as Chair of The Committee in Economic Development.
Thank you to Speaker Adrienne Adams for the trust and appointment, I look forward to working with her, my colleagues, & Mayor Eric Adams to make our economy inclusive for all NYers.
Diaz’s exit makes our path to victory clearer, but a lot can happen in the next year. So, the work doesn’t stop.
This is where our movement goes full speed ahead.
If you can:
• make a donation
• sign up to volunteer on our website
Let’s go!

News: Ruben Diaz Sr., who lost his
#NY15
House bid, appears to announce he’s not running for re-election to NY City Council.
Subject line: “EVERYTHING HAS ITS END”
I voted!
Seeing myself on the ballot for a
#GeneralElection
is surreal. This was made possible thru hard work, persistence & community!
We’re almost there & I’m grateful for this opportunity to represent all of us in
#CD18
! Go out & vote, polls close at 9pm.
#ForThePeople
I am overjoyed by all the love, support & congratulatory messages. This is something we fought hard for & WE WON!
Thank you everyone for helping us secure this

I want everyone to know I’m celebrating my birthday at a local bar, drinking a drink called Latin Passion, wearing my big ass gold hoops and listening to Dispet.
You literally can’t get more Bronx than this.
Cheers to more life!
#AmandaTurns30
Seeing Kamala have to smile thru being interrupted makes me so angry and cringe.
We’ve all been in the convo, at that table, on the zoom conference where we have to still be likable while being disrespected.
Let’s put a max of 5 cent fee per bag & plan a comprehensive campaign distributing reusable bags to low income communities to educate & empower.
Language & implementation of leg is critical bc it can be detrimental to communities of color. We do care about the environment too.
Suffolk County placed a 5 cent fee on plastic bags.
In the year since, 1.1 billion fewer bags have been given out.
That's fewer bags clogging sewers, getting stuck in trees, harming wildlife, or filling landfills.
Long past time for NYC to do the same.
✨WE ARE ON THE BALLOT! ✨
Thank you to everyone who volunteered to help us collect signatures.
We collected and wrapped up early, and just officially submitted for both our Democratic Primary and Working Families Party Lines.

I just parallel parked my car in one move and a guy just yelled out:
“Whip that shit babygirl! I see you!”
And now I’m dying in my car but appreciate the appreciation.
I love my neighborhood ❤️

City Hall’s cobblestone got me today
😅😅😅
Is this reimbursable? Asking for a friend…
(don’t worry I had flats in my office, I was not hobbling around lol)
ENDORSEMENT ANNOUNCEMENT
I’m am beyond excited to be endorsed by Public Advocate
@JumaaneWilliams
today. He’s a testament to the fighting spirit that grassroots, progressive power needs to expand communities like ours in CD18. Jumaane has been a proven leader for our City.

Folks, I’m walking home from the E 180th train station & it’s a pretty desolate/commercial walk but-
I just witnessed a cat, a skunk, and a possum all eating cat food from two bowls that someone left in an open garage. Like what?!
In The Bronx everything is possible.
Had a great time showing some Bronx love to Brooklyn tonight for my great friends and kick-ass leadership of NYC -
@bradlander
&
@JumaaneWilliams
!
Only a few people would get me out to BK and I’m happy to be supporting them. ✊🏽💗
Today I stood in solidarity w City Council Staff as a frmr staffer who’s experienced harassment & knows the threats, both real & implied, each person faced by participating in today’s action at City Hall.
We’ll continue making noise until all staff are protected

As many know, this run is my 2nd go at City Council, and it matters who continues to show up for you and your community.
Really proud to be re-endorsed by

for my race and excited to do work together to get a WIN in 2021!

As a survivor of workplace sexual assault, I understand it takes a lot to get to a place to tell your story.
Because women gain nothing from publicly speaking out. If anything, it’s a toll on their mental, physical well-being to relive a traumatic experience.
Believe women.
So, what you’re saying is you are going to deliberately skirt your MANDATORY responsibility to report sexual harassment?
Boys club over protecting women any day and at all costs.
Let me tell y’all why bodegas in my hood are the best.
I just got a banana, a large tea, and an old fashioned donut (I’m an old lady lol) all for $2.75.
And I got to pet a cat.
You can’t beat that. Ever.

Whoever fed this to the NY Post is SHAMEFUL.
Attacks on women and the LGBTQ+ community will not be tolerated.
Waiting to see who calls them out for writing this and who doesn’t.
As I’ve always said, ALLYSHIP IS A VERB.
The women of The Bronx need an elected official who will work to dismantle the toxic workplace culture that protects predators & silences victims. Sadly, Council Member Diaz has shown he is not up to that task.
TY CMs
@HelenRosenthal

@RitchieTorres
for standing up for women
Domestic Violence is a growing epidemic across the borough. The 2021 City Council need to take this serious through action based policies.
I’m proud to partner with
@ElisaCrespoNYC
to release our Domestic Violence Action Plan.
Add your name here:
This is the result of no investments made to make a community multi-modal or have equitable access to transit options.
In CD18- we don’t have citibike, are not apart of the e-scooter pilot, and are a two-fare zone to utilize the ferry to go to our jobs outside of our community.
I am proud to have built a diverse coalition of Bronx leaders who have rallied behind our campaign. When I set out to run for office, it was to challenge the status quo. Our community has been stagnant. Years of the same leadership has left our community disengaged.

Heading to a meeting downtown and gotta love all our beautiful decor at our subway stations!
Who knows what stop has these beautiful mosaics in The Bronx?
35 of you have nothing to lose on this vote, but your communities have everything to lose without reinvestment and programmatic dollars.
Do the right thing
#BudgetJustice
#DefundNYPD
48/51 city councilors are dems, 21/51 are in "progressive caucus", Council Speaker is too. 35/51 are term limited so they all vote their true beliefs
and only 11 of them are willing to

Truly shameful
If you have an oz of respect for people of this city: Vote No
When your staff is shocked you’ve never had a pear, and then kindly (but with judgement lol) bring you one 🍐
I rate the pear 7/10 - undecided on the texture, might buy in the future.

Do white people realize they can go right back to where they came from too?

This photo is from my first political campaign I worked with no political experience
Never did I think a decade later I’d be in the midst of it all in NYC politics

Just drove passed a poll site w/ doors closed at 9:11pm & about 60 ppl outside demanding to vote.
Officer inside was so rude saying her supervisor said doors close at 9pm & they are waiting for him to advise
I told her - he’s not an election lawyer & these people can vote 1/2
