In a way, this incident ended up altering the course of the playoffs for both drivers when they returned to Charlotte five months later. Larson got wrecked on the ensuing restart and didn’t win, costing him five playoff points that would have kept him ahead of Briscoe yesterday.

Did a bit of research out of curiosity. The last time Ford scored three-straight Cup wins without a Team Penske or Stewart-Haas Racing victory was in 2010-11. Carl Edwards won the last two races of 2010 for Roush, Trevor Bayne opened 2011 in victory lane for the Wood Brothers.

NASCAR's slowly leaning further into the late start times on Sundays. Examples: - Clash @ 8 p.m. (Was 6) - Nashville @ 7 p.m. (Was 5) - Chicago @ 5:30 p.m. (RA was 3) - Atlanta 2 @ 7 p.m. (Was 3) Martinsville 1 is no longer a night race, though. It's moved to Sunday @ 3 p.m.
