I’m gonna say it. TOTK actually has one of the strongest narratives in the series. The opening scene alone efficiently sets up every single element and plot point up to and including the ending. So many Zelda games overlook the “legend” aspect, but TOTK feels like an actual myth.

I know a few vocal fans have complained that TOTK Zelda is "blander" and "watered down" from how she was in BOTW, but I really disagree. She's very much the same person, but more mature. She no longer has the crushing self-doubt, and she's also not a teenager anymore.

The irony of Zelda fans complaining about “lack of continuity” between Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom is that these two games have the strongest sense of shared continuity of any games in the whole franchise. Even Zelda’s character in TOTK is a logical progression.

That’s the beauty of Frieren. The characters don’t have to yell at each other to show their emotions, their actions speak for themselves. They all exhibit a level of maturity that reflects their true nature. Sorry if you expected a story populated by the usual shonen archetypes.

@thalassashells “The ending was a cop out with no setup.” Wrong. Notice how in both scenes, Sonia is the first to extend her hand to assist. Rauru couldn’t restore Link’s arm at the start because Sonia wasn’t there. It’s thanks to Sonia that Zelda changed back.
