My thoughts on the UMass news today. UMass never planned to be independent in football for a decade. When they turned down the original MAC all-sports offer in 2014 they had no choice because the A10 was a 5 bid conference & looked to stay that way.

Wife just texted me. Every single patient she has had in her ER today has been a COVID patient. And every single one of those patients was unvaccinated. She has had ZERO patients come in with vaccine side effects. You unvaccinated morons are making her life miserable.

Girl #2 arrived last night at 11:39pm. 7lbs 5oz. Her mom is a champ and doing well after 14 hrs of labor. Kiddo decided to be born face up, so a little bit of swelling, but other than that all healthy!

The UMass Football program means a lot to me and a ton of other people. I’m going to continue to support it. This will get back on track. I’m looking forward to the new hire. The new transfer rules make this something that can turn around quickly.

One major thing about yesterday in Amherst that I want to say is, finally a good job by @UMassAmherst to allow the students to do their own tailgate again. For too many yrs they tried to police it, which was a huge fail. Everything was back to the old days yesterday w/ no issues.

Sources: #Indiana is set to hire Walt Bell as offensive coordinator. Former OC at Maryland, Florida State and Arkansas State had been UMass head coach the past three seasons. An announcement is expected Tuesday. Bell will replace Nick Sheridan.

I am so ready for Don Brown and his staff to use the portal to help UMass Football bounce back quickly. I really think the defense will make some major upgrades this offseason. Will likely have to wait until after spring ball to really fill out the roster, but the new rules help.

Made it safely back to NJ. Another UMass season of home football games down. My wonderful wife and family make it possible for me to come hang out with all you crazy’s on Saturday’s in the fall. I know it will continue to get harder as the kids get older, so I enjoy the moment.

People think I’m crazy for driving from NJ to Amherst and then back for football games, but I left my house at 6am and got home at 7pm. That’s basically my normal work week day. But no matter how bad we lose it’s still so much better than going to work.
