We are greatly saddened by the news today of the death of Her Majesty the Queen.
The University flag will be flown at half-mast as a mark of our respect during the period of formal national mourning.
We were honoured that His Royal Highness Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh, accepted an honorary degree from our university in 1967.
Today, we join with so many other organisations and individuals in expressing our sorrow at the death of the Queen’s beloved husband.
The University of Southampton stands firmly against racism and violence towards members of the black and minority ethnic community both at our University and across the globe.

Students - we've heard reports that some of you are being sent home from polling stations due to administrative errors, with instructions to retrieve your polling card to prove you can vote.
You shouldn't ever have to, but we recommend you take your card with you just in case.
You shouldn't NEED to take your polling card to vote but I recommend you do as lots of students are being told they're not on the list even though they're registered. If this happens, you call the Electoral Register to check. But just to avoid the faff, take your card!
