Eight years ago today, Savita Halappanavar, 31, was admitted to hospital in Ireland. She was miscarrying her baby and asked for an abortion. Staff refused. Days later, she died from an infection. RIP Savita. Solidarity with women around the world denied safe and legal abortion.

In 2019, I had the immense honour of taking my nieces to Wembley for their first ever football match. We went to watch the England Lionesses take on Germany. The girls invited two of their friends, we were a tribe of inter-generational daughters of immigrants.

On my way to see a friend I came across a woman at a tube station sobbing her heart out facing a wall in the tunnel. She was distressed. I stopped a short distance from her and said “Hello. I see you are not ok. How can I help? Do you need help?” She turned around and nodded.

A six-year-old boy has found a fossil dating back millions of years in his garden after receiving a fossil-hunting kit for Christmas. Siddak Singh Jhamat said he was "excited" to find the fossil in his garden in Walsall after digging for worms.

An imam and a priest are not the same thing. Any man can be called an imam if they lead the prayer. A woman can also lead the prayer. There are women imams in the UK, they’ve been around for a very long time. We need to see much better religious literacy across our media.
